Needlework Monday - Another cool baby hat 👶

in NeedleWorkMonday3 years ago

This post is my contribution to #needleworkmonday challenge founded by @crosheille and hosted by @muscara, and @marblely .

As the cold season approaches, it is time to get creative and improve my knitting skills. Especially now, when I was blessed with my first grandchild, who is an adorable boy!

This time I made a hat with ear flaps, because there is no way he will keep a regular beanie on his head. Let’s hope this one will stay put. Look at his face! I bet he will take the hat off in a minute!

Well… when we go out I can tie it under his chin and he will not have any other choice. Hopefully he will still have this cute smile on!

Now, let’s get to the technical part. I started with a regular beanie hat. 60 knots. I decided to make some swirls for design purpose.

After I finished the beanie, I divided the 60 knots by 5. So I have 5 parts of 12 knots each. One part is the back of the hat, one part left ear flap, one part right ear flap and two parts the front (forehead).

I used a crochet hook to create knots for each part and work on the flaps and front part, as shown in the photo. I hope my words make sense, it is hard to explain properly.

That’s it! It took me a couple of hours to make it, I like it, do you?

PS - I ran into a storage problem because of too many craft items all over the place, inclusive yarns and unfinished projects. To save space and $$$ I am recycling cardboard boxes. Check this storage box I just made. I will do a short tutorial soon, I think it’s a must-do for all the crafters out there!

Thank you, I appreciate the comment. 🙂

You’re welcome ma

That hat is really cool plus that baby is so cute. Would you mind if I pinch his cheek? Hahaha, kidding. But really, he was the perfect model of your hat. Good thing he didn't take it off while you're taking pictures of him. Plus he showed his adorable smile. A very heartfelt gesture from a baby. Anyway, thank you for sharing your project and God bless you and the baby. ☺️
