We have a New Logo and Design & Preview of our Main Feature

in HiveUP Europelast year
Authored by @tibfox

Welcome European HIVErs!

Slowly but steadily we gain momentum and get in contact with different meetup organizers and meetup groups on the blockchain we are aiming to connect with potential attendees. Recently we got a few complaints that our logo represents the EU flag (which is true but it is also the "European Flag") and this comes with various political attitudes and views. Our concept is not of any political nature and we want to keep governments and politics in general out of the game here so we decided to change our logo to something less controversial. The logo on the right is our "base logo" and we are going to use it for the HIVE Europe community, the @hive-eu account and our discord server.

The new logo symbolizes the community shaking hands in real life and the positive / lovely connections we are building with local meetups together as a community.

A huge thank you to @desro who created the old and the new logos in her spare time. It felt very bad contacting her to create a new logo but she agreed and now we have an even better looking logo in our opinion. Feel free to check out her HIVE channel - she does amazing crafting stuff, photos and photo editing content:

And now we want to show off 2 additional logos @desro made for the initiative:

Peakd Badges

Additional to the logo change we have created 2 new peakd badges highlighting attendees and meetup organizers.

HIVE Europe Meetup Attendee
This is the basic badge which every meetup attendee will receive. For this we rely on the informations provided by the meetup organizers but we are doing our best to find the attendees on our own via the post or comment section of meetups.
HIVE Europe Challenge Cup
This is a very special badge which goes only to one single user. The meetup organizer with the most attendees of the current month. For this we also rely on the informations provided by the meetup organizers and potential recap posts.

It would be super cool if a meetup organizer not only shares his meetup announcement in our community (more on that in another post) but it would be also cool if we receive the list of attendees so we can add them to the list.

Be aware that these badges go only to meetups which have been featured by our community. How to get featured? Check the paragrah "Register a meetup (for organizer and others)" below.

If a month ends and a new meetup happens the trophy goes to the next organizer regardless of the previous holder of the trophy. This way we are going to hand the trophy over and over and hopefully can boost the meetup organizers to search for more attendees. It is born out of a silly idea but perhaps it will be worth and mentioned from some of the meetup organizers.

Register a meetup (for organizer and others)

If you organize a meetup or if you just spot an announcement post for a meetup please please pleeeaase send the link into the discord server or even better: cross-post it into the HIVE Europe community. We know it feels wierd to cross-post other peoples content but it is technical possible and it would help a ton to manage this project. Rewards are declined so you will not receive any rewards for the cross-post. You simply gift the meetup organizer more exposure for the event and with one simple step you help us enormously to serve the european HIVE community. Thank you for your help!

Our Main Feature is Almost Finished

Discord Bot

@tibfox is almost done with coding our discord bot to register new meetups and change them. This is needed to fill our database with meetup data in order to display them on a static map. More features will then follow like: automatic recurring meetups, querying meetups by location via discord, set reminders about meetups and more.

Pinned Map Post

This map will be our one and only pinned post in the HIVE Europe community so people will have only one spot to check about upcoming meetups. Here is a preview of the map with demo data:

export_map_overview.png

For each location we will generate additional images to give more detail and of course include all the needed data like the organizer, link to the announcement post, time data and so on in the post.

The database and meetup entries will get maintained by a small group of voluteers to assure good data quality. As soon as the baseline is done we will wirte a post and ask for helping hands.

Subscribe the Map Post

You will have the oportunity to subscribe to changes of this pinned post to be informed about new meetups fitting your criteria. More on that in a future post.

Thank you for the initial support of this community!

We highly appreciate how well the community responded to this idea. The amount of valuable input, offering help and you messages showed us that it is worth to put our time and energy into this project.

See you soon!

I wish success and good luck to the new community! I know how dedicated you are to everything you do and with how much enthusiasm and good intentions you are starting this, so I hope that all of this will be recognized and supported by the entire community, for the benefit of many.

Great idea to spread the word about #hive

Full !BEER support from the heart of Europe

Yes, I am very excited about the Discord server. My respect for your commitment to Hive Meet Ups. I think if many people get involved it will grow quickly and anything that benefits the community is good for Hive!
