Greetings to all! Checking Twitter I came across a tweet from a friend in which he talked about the opening of anime and how they make you want to watch the series when it is very good, and although this is not something that has happened to me in many years because I am one of those who sees all the series that come out in the season and I discard until I stay with the ones I want to see, I got to thinking that there really are series that have openings and endings well done and that have a great mix between animation and music. Looking through the series I have seen I realized that there are several that I have loved either recently or years ago and I wanted to see their openings again and even listen to the whole song in a loop. Therefore, I decided to share and talk a little about some of the opening of the series I've seen that I personally consider have the perfect balance between good animation and music, of course I will not name many because it would be a very long post but I will name the ones that stood out in my memory.

Revisando Twitter me encontré con un tweet de un amigo en el que hablaba sobre los opening de los anime y como éstos te hacen querer ver la serie cuando es muy bueno, y aunque esto no es algo que me haya pasado en muchos años porque soy de los que ve todas las series que salen en la temporada y voy descartando hasta quedarme con las que deseo ver, me puse a pensar que realmente hay series que tienen openings y endings bien hechos y que poseen una mezcla genial entre animación y música. Revisando entre las series que he visto me di cuenta que hay varias que me han encantado sea desde hace poco o desde hace años y me dio por querer ver sus opening de nuevo y hasta escuchar la canción completa en un loop. Por ello, decidí compartir y hablar un poco sobre algunos de los opening de las series que he visto que personalmente considero tienen el equilibrio perfecto entre buena animación y música, por supuesto no nombraré muchos ya que sería una publicación muy larga pero si de los que resaltaron en mi memoria.
In no particular order, I will begin:
Sin ningún orden en particular, comenzaré:
1)Beastars 2 - Opening
I think many people know this anime because of the fanservice it had for a while and one that I personally like because of the story it has and its good use of CGI (although many criticize it). If this anime is also characterized by its openings of both the first and second season because they show something quite different from what is usually seen. In the first season puppets were used throughout the opening but in this second one they used both 3D and 2D scenes, with many silhouettes that hinted at the danger and the events that would occur in that story arc. Colorimetry was the protagonist throughout as the color changes in the scenes showed the nature of what was happening but the colors that caught my attention the most were black and red, used to show the violence and wild side of Legosi or perhaps carnivores in general. The animation used for Legosi's running scene was spectacular and there was a lot of care in the details taking even consideration of when he almost stumbles from turning at high speed. The design of the city to then perform the panel swapping so fluidly of scenes that didn't even last two seconds and finally closing with the pursuit of Legosi's dark side, his beast instinct to his beloved Haru but finally being rescued by the Legosi who wants to suppress those desires and get out of it.
As for the song, YAOSABI is an excellent artist and the lyrics not only fit perfectly with the series but the animation studio really made sure that each verse and the chorus fit as well, with no delays and giving the perfect intonation.
Creo que muchos conocen este anime así sea por el fanservice que tuvo durante un tiempo y una que personalmente me gusta por la historia que tiene y su buen uso de CGI (aunque muchos lo critican). Si de algo también se caracteriza este anime es por sus openings tanto de la primera temporada como la segunda porque muestran algo bastante diferente a lo que usualmente se suele ver. En la primera temporada se usaron marionetas a lo largo de todo el opening pero en este segundo usaron escenas tanto 3D como 2D, con muchas siluetas que insinuaban el peligro y los eventos que ocurrirían en ese arco argumental. La colorimetría fue el protagonista en todo momento ya que los cambios de colores en los escenarios mostraban la naturaleza de lo que estaba ocurriendo pero los colores que más llamaron mi atención fue el color negro y el rojo, usados para mostrar la violencia y el lado salvaje de Legosi o tal vez a los carnívoros en general. La animación usada para la escena de Legosi corriendo fue espectacular y hubo mucho cuidado en los detalles tomando incluso consideración de cuando casi tropieza por girar en alta velocidad. El diseño de la ciudad para luego realizar el intercambio de páneles de manera tan fluida de escenas que no duraban ni dos segundos y finalmente cerrar con la persecución del lado oscuro de Legosi, su instinto bestia a su amada Haru pero siendo finalmente rescatada por el Legosi que quiere suprimir esos deseos y salir de ello.
En cuanto a la canción, YAOSABI es una excelente artista y la letra no solo encaja perfectamente con la serie sino que el estudio de animación en verdad se encargó de que cada estrofa y el coro también lo hiciera, sin retrasos y dando la entonación perfecta.
2) Fate/Zero - Opening 1
Of course I had to put something from Fate and although I consider that there are several excellent openings that fall into the category of the post, I decided to talk only about Fate/Zero for this occasion. Although I don't know if it's cheating to leave this opening here, why do I say so? Because the animation studio of this spectacular series is Ufotable, yes, the same of Kimetsu no Yaiba and to complete the song is performed by LiSA, but with such a powerful combination, is this opening really good? Yes. It is. Overall the animation has lots and lots of scenes that try to cover every aspect of the series in terms of characters, scenery and fighting. The beginning of the song is soft and a glow of light leads the way to the title through the waters of Fuyuki City, the location of the story's events. As soon as the song's lyrics begin, we are shown the four main characters in their different facets in short intervals of time. Then they show us the other Masters, some with their Servants and others with their family, but a very good point is that they have left between the frame of the happy family of the Tohsaka and the frame of Kariya Matou on the rooftop already invaded by the particular type of sorcery of his family, to the image of Sakura alone on a dirty floor, this is an extremely important point not only in Zero but in all that is Fate/Stay Night (and even brought repercussions in the Grand Order universe but that's another story). Once the characters are introduced, the chorus begins and with it different action scenes between Servants and Masters until closing again with the characters.
Something that I find particular about this opening is that it is designed with great care and order to show exactly what is necessary and according to categories and that at the same time coincides with the lyrics of the song but with good drawings and without giving spoilers of what would happen in the first part of the series.
Por supuesto tenía que colocar algo de Fate y aunque considero que hay varios openings excelentes que entran en la categoría del post, decidí hablar por esta ocasión solo de Fate/Zero. Aunque no sé si sea trampa el dejar este opening acá ¿por qué lo digo? Porque el estudio de animación de esta espectacular serie es Ufotable, si, el mismo de Kimetsu no Yaiba y para completar la canción es interpretada por LiSA, pero con tan poderosa combinación ¿es realmente bueno este opening? Sí. Lo es. En general la animación tiene muchísimas escenas que intentan cubrir cada aspecto de la serie en cuanto a personajes, escenarios y combates. El inicio de la canción es suave y un resplandor de luz va guiando el camino al título a través de las aguas de la ciudad Fuyuki, lugar de los eventos de la historia. Apenas empieza la letra de la canción nos muestran a los cuatro personajes principales en sus diferentes facetas en cortos intervalos de tiempo. Luego nos van mostrando a los demás Masters, algunos con sus Servants y otros con su familia, pero un punto buenísimo es que hayan dejado entre el recuadro de la familia feliz de los Tohsaka y al recuadro de Kariya Matou en la azotea ya invadido por el tipo particular de hechicería de su familia, a la imagen de Sakura sola en un suelo sucio, este es un punto sumamente importante no solo en Zero sino en todo lo que es Fate/Stay Night (y hasta trajo repercusiones en el universo de Grand Order pero esa es otra historia). Una vez presentados los personajes empieza el intervalo que da inicio al coro y con ello diferentes escenas de acción entre Servants y Masters hasta ir cerrando nuevamente con los personajes.
Algo que me parece particular de este opening es que está diseñado con mucho cuidado y orden para mostrar exactamente lo necesario y según categorías y que a la vez coincidiera con la letra de la canción pero con buenos dibujos y sin dar spoiler de lo que ocurriría en esa primera parte de la serie.
3) Horimiya - Opening
This is a very beautiful anime for me, it came out last year if I remember correctly and it's one that made me want to go back to high school and experience more things with my friends and even fall in love. It's easy to connect with the characters and there's a very beautiful and pure energy there in many ways without getting over the top and so unrealistic. This opening looks at first glance very different from what the anime seems to be but it is actually focused on the emotional part of Miyamura, in fact, most of the scenes in this opening are from his perspective leaving in certain parts the perspective of Hori and in others the interaction with his friends. Visually I think it can be interpreted in many ways depending on the viewer. At the beginning there is a lonely desk and a clock without hands, I think it symbolizes Miyamura's loneliness in his life as a child and teenager and how time is no longer perceived because everything is always the same. His eyes are focused to show his melancholy. The following is a mix of images using dynamic frames, the scene on the bridge where Hori and Miyamura are supposedly seeing each other I think it represents how far and close they had been at the same time, you can tell they were not at the same time by looking at the trees in the background. They immediately switch to his emotional points and you see the other main characters, his best friends. Now, if you are watching the opening I guess you noticed a field of sunflowers but then the image is distorted and in less than a second it looks like a silhouette of a person sitting with something giant on him, well, I suspect that is Miyamura and that huge is his depression. After a few images finally the four of them are seen in a single image but something happens, the four of them are in different "phases" so to speak, in different frames, together but far away. Hori is seen seeing his high school with the passing of the seasons because the story takes place in his last year of school. The following are emotional outbursts from the four characters especially Miyamura, I think the little box he holds are his feelings.
The song is sentimental and I think it's a reflection of Miyamura's insecurities and fears about him having feelings for Hori.
It's a beautiful series, I repeat, I totally recommend it and it's animated by Cloverworks studio so it's guaranteed art.
Este es un anime muy hermoso para mí, salió el año pasado si mal no recuerdo y es uno que me hizo querer regresar a la secundaria y vivir más cosas con mis amigos e incluso enamorarme. Es fácil conectarse con los personajes y hay una energía muy bonita y pura ahí en muchos sentidos sin llegar a lo exagerado y tan irrealista. Este opening se ve a simple vista muy diferente a lo que pareciera ser el anime pero en realidad está centrado en la parte emocional de Miyamura, de hecho, la mayoría de las escenas de este opening son desde su perspectiva dejando en ciertas partes la perspectiva de Hori y en otros la interacción con sus amigos. Visualmente creo que se puede interpretar de muchas maneras o dependiendo de quien lo vea. Al inicio se ve un pupitre solo y un reloj sin agujas, creo que simboliza a la soledad de Miyamura en su vida de niño y adolescente y a como el tiempo ya no lo percibe porque todo es igual siempre. Los ojos de él son enfocados dejando notar su melancolía. Lo siguiente es una mezcla de imágenes utilizando cuadros dinámicos, la escena del puente donde está Hori y Miyamura supuestamente viéndose creo que representa lo lejos y cerca que a la vez habían estado, se nota que no estaban al mismo tiempo al observar los árboles del fondo. Inmediatamente cambian a los puntos emocionales de él y se ven a los otros personajes principales, sus mejores amigos. Ahora, si andan viendo el opening me imagino notaron que se observa un campo de girasoles pero luego la imagen se distorsiona y en menos de un segundo parece una silueta de una persona sentada con algo gigante sobre él, pues, sospecho que ese es Miyamura y eso enorme es su depresión. Tras algunas imágenes finalmente se ven los cuatro en una sola imagen pero algo pasa, los cuatro están en diferentes “fases” por decirlo así, en distintos cuadros, juntos pero lejos. Hori se ve viendo su preparatoria con el pasar de las estaciones porque la historia ocurre en su último año escolar. Lo siguiente son explosiones emocionales de los cuatro personajes especialmente de Miyamura, creo que la cajita que sostiene son sus sentimientos.
La canción es sentimental y creo que es un reflejo de las inseguridades y miedos de Miyamura con respecto a que el sienta algo por Hori.
Es una serie hermosa, lo repito, la recomiendo totalmente y está animada por parte del estudio Cloverworks así que es arte asegurado.
4) Juuni Taisen - Opening
Juuni Taisen is a fairly simple anime in terms of what it is about, it is a battle royale, twelve warriors representing the Chinese zodiac signs must kill each other and the one left standing will be granted a wish, simple as that. It is a series with excellent animation and soundtrack and the fights are realistic in the sense that they don't last fifteen minutes of just punching each other. Its opening is very good in every way and I think it's wonderful that they were able to make something so good despite the story being so direct and short, CGI was used very well in conjunction with 2D, similar to what we saw with Beastars showing at the beginning the image of the city where the events occur and then the silhouettes of the warriors. Using different color palettes, they show part of the face or body of the different characters one by one with an image of some object or symbol that somehow also represents them, also using images of some key places. The chorus begins by showing different parts of Usagi, the rabbit warrior, giving him prominence in some way. Then they focus on each warrior with CGI animation in combat mode until closing the opening with images full of symbolism referring to the story.
The lyrics of the song show almost no relation to the series but it is certainly very good and the animation studio did a good job in fitting with the different scenes.
Juuni Taisen es un anime bastante sencillo en cuanto a lo que trata, es un battle royale, doce guerreros que representan a los signos zodiacales chinos deben matarse entre sí y el que quede en pie se le concederá un deseo, así de simple. Es una serie con una excelente animación y banda sonora y los combates son realistas en el sentido que no duran quince minutos de solo darse golpes. Su opening es muy bueno en todo sentido y me parece maravilloso que hayan podido realizar algo tan bueno a pesar de que la historia sea tan directa y corta, se usó muy bien el CGI en conjunto con el 2D, parecido a lo visto con Beastars mostrando al inicio la imagen de la ciudad donde ocurren los eventos y luego las siluetas de los guerreros. Usando diferentes paletas de colores, van mostrando parte del rostro o cuerpo de los diferentes personajes uno a uno con una imagen de algún objeto o símbolo que de alguna forma también los represente, usando además imágenes de algunos sitios clave. El coro comienza mostrando diferentes partes de Usagi, el guerrero del conejo, dándole protagonismo de algún modo. Luego enfocan a cada guerrero con animación CGI en modo de combate hasta cerrar el opening con imágenes llenas de simbolismo referentes a la historia.
La letra de la canción no muestra casi relación con la serie pero es sin duda muy buena y el estudio de animación hicieron un buen trabajo en encajar con las diferentes escenas.
5) Tales of Zestiria the X - Opening 1
This is the anime adaptation of the Play Station 3 video game of the same name, and just like Fate/Zero, it is animated by the great studio Ufotable. From the start, the visual quality indicates that this studio always aspires to the top even for projects that are not as well known as others. The opening shows us a beautiful setting, with excellent details in plants, rocks, clouds, everything, allowing us to really immerse ourselves in the world in which Sorey and his team are living. In the first seconds we are shown the scenarios where the first events of the series occur, from the place where the protagonist resides and the kingdom while showing us some characters in the process. I want to mention the part where Alisha enters with her teacher to a large room surrounded by guards that are put in formation when she passes, it is incredible the quality that had that part, a lot of fluidity and with a combination of colors and spectacular lighting. In this anime they also make use of CGI for some scenes, especially those involving dragons, and although one is seen briefly, there is a great amount of detail in every part of it. As the chorus begins, the animation changes drastically to be more choppy as they go into combat scenes showing the abilities of the different seraphim and their elemental affinities, as well as the protagonist's human allies. At the end they show what would be Sorey's "power up", being able to receive the power of one of the seraphim and thus change his appearance and use his new powers and weapons and I at least was impressed with what they did by animating the shooting of the magic water arrow, the camera change and the use of small lights as ambience without producing discomfort.
The song is a reflection of the protagonist, that pure spirit, positive without being annoying, determined and smiling. Sorey is a real song.
Ufotable is usually very organized in the way they elaborate their openings, everything must fit and show what is necessary without telling what the story is about and they do it in a way that is not noticeable at first sight.
Esta es la adaptación en anime del videojuego para Play Station 3 del mismo nombre y así como pasó con Fate/Zero, está animado por el grandioso estudio Ufotable. De entrada la calidad visual nos indica que este estudio siempre aspira a lo alto incluso para proyectos que no son tan conocidos como otros. El opening nos muestra una ambientación hermosa, con excelentes detalles en las plantas, rocas, nubes, todo, permitiéndonos sumergirnos realmente en ese mundo en el que Sorey y su equipo están viviendo. En los primeros segundos nos muestran los escenarios donde ocurren los primeros eventos de la serie, desde el lugar donde reside el protagonista y el reino mientras nos van mostrando a algunos personajes en el proceso. Quiero hacer mención a la parte donde Alisha entra junto con su maestra a un gran salón rodeadas de guardias que se ponen en formación al ella pasar, es increíble la calidad que tuvo esa parte, mucha fluidez y con una combinación de colores y de iluminación espectacular. En este anime también hacen uso del CGI para algunas escenas, especialmente las que tienen involucrados a dragones, y aunque se ve uno brevemente, hay una gran cantidad de detalles en cada parte del mismo. Al comenzar el coro, la animación cambia drásticamente a ser más movida al entrar en escenas de combate mostrando las capacidades de los diferentes serafines y sus afinidades elementales, así como a las aliadas humanas del protagonista. Al final muestran lo que sería el “power up” de Sorey, poder recibir el poder de uno de los serafines y así cambiar su aspecto y usar sus poderes y armas nuevas y yo por lo menos quedé impresionado con lo que hicieron al animar el disparo de la flecha de agua mágica, el cambio de cámara y el uso de pequeñas luces como ambiente sin producir molestia.
La canción es un reflejo del protagonista, ese espíritu puro, positivo sin ser molesto, decidido y sonriente. Sorey es una verdadera canción.
Ufotable suele ser muy organizado en cuanto a cómo elabora sus openings, todo debe encajar y mostrar lo necesario sin decir de qué trata la historia y lo hacen de una forma que no se nota a la primera vista.
Well, these were some of the openings I wanted to share, there are many I would like to show so maybe another time I will do it with endings or more openings. It is extraordinary when animation studios love a project and make an effort to make quality openings and endings where the viewers can forge a bond with them and we simply can't skip them when they start. Bueno, estos fueron algunos de los opening que quise compartir, son muchas las que desearía mostrar así que tal vez en otra oportunidad lo haga con endings o más openings. Es extraordinario cuando los estudios de animación le agarran cariño a un proyecto y se esfuerzan en hacer openings y endings de calidad donde los espectadores podemos forjar un vínculo con ellos y que simplemente no podemos saltarlos cuando empiezan. Otros que te recomiendo escuchar, si gustas, son el primero de Jujutsu Kaisen y el primero de Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. El ending de Jujutsu Kaisen también es buenísimo.

Oh es cierto!! Tienes toda la razón! No puedo creer que haya olvidado los Opening de Jujutsu Kaisen! En especial el segundo, ese está lleno de referencias artísticas por lo que vi en un Tweet hace tiempo. Esos opening son arte puro y las canciones son espectaculares.
Y que bueno que te he brindado nuevas series a las cuales puedes revisar, todas son muy buenas a mi parecer, tal vez Tales of Zestiria sea la que se sienta "corta" porque es una versión condensada de todo el juego de PS3 y con un final alterno.

Personalmente no he visto ninguno de los animes que has mencionado en el post, si que he visto uno que otro reel e inclusive aparecían en el inicio cuando me ponía a ver otros, pero si debo decir. Que están muy buenos! Además con el mini resumen introductorio, es perfecto para poder dar al menos, algo de contexto a quienes no los conocen (como yo jiji).

Jjaajaj que bueno que te hayan parecido interesantes, si lo tuyo es la acción puedes ir con Juuni Taisen, si quieres magia y un buen storyline ve por Fate/Zero, si te gustan las cosas de la vida, comedia, drama y romance ve por Horimiya, si te gusta la magia con algo de acción y te agrada la idea de ver una adaptación de un juego puedes ver Tales of Zestiria the X y si te gusta ver cosas de la vida con ciencia ficción puedes ver Beastars. Hay mucha variedad, de todos esos los que más me gustaron fueron Fate/Zero y Beastars haha
Quiero que sepas que eres otra de las señales para ver Beastars DIOOOOS tengo que verla el opening es muy bueno y me llamaaaa

Jajajajaja ah ves! Tienes que verlo, Beastars es muy interesante y considero que debido a su buen storyline y libreto, se te pasa por alto que de hecho son animales los que están como personajes humanoides. Y hay un toque psicológico muy bueno. Y eso que no has visto el primer opening, lo iba a colocar pero preferí el segundo. El primero tiene un toque de jazz incluso.
Jajaja estoy a favor de ese debate! Tenemos que hacerlo.
De todos los que mencionaste solamente he visto Horimiya y la verdad que me pareció un OP increíble, su ritmo me gusto bastante y lo escuchaba muy seguido :D
Yo soy de los que suele empezar a ver un anime por su opening, pero aunque conozco varios de los openings acá mencionados, solo he visto Horimiya. El Opening de Beastars 2 es espectacular, tanto la animación como la canción, pero aún me he decidido a ver el anime jajaja. Quizá le de una oportunidad pronto.
Si!! Debes ver Beastars, es muy bueno y aunque algunos se quejaron del CGI me parece que es de las pocas series que lo ha manejado bien. Horimiya es una joya, quedé con ganas de más pero deberías ver al menos Fate/Zero si te gusta la idea de magia y un lore inmenso.
Bueno, los veré a ver qué tal. Realmente mi género favorito, o al menos el que más me gusta recientemente, es el Isekai. Encuentro cierto placer en verlos, aunque sean todos la típica historia del héroe de otro mundo que viene a salvar un mundo de fantasía. Ojo, están sus excepciones que rompen el "molde prefabricado" del isekai, y esos me gustan aún más jajaja. Pero sí, cuando tenga un tiempito libre veré Beastars y Fate/Zero.
