I reckon the problem, as with most collectives, is a lot of people are clueless (myself included) and go on as though these things don't impact them, assuming surely, someone else will decide (and hopefully in a way that suits me well).

The bystander effect :))
In a way, but I mean in a more ignorant way. The bystander effect assumes I know something is wrong, just expect someone else to act. What I mean is, I think a lot of us here don't really concern ourselves with these things (though obviously, that's foolish and we should).
Well, some people tend to act at least :)
