Hello friends! this time I share the creation of a ornamental bonsai that I made with copper wires that I extracted from recycled cables.

Hola amigos!

Materials and tools used:

  • Recycled network cable to make the bonsai.
  • Recycled power extension cable to be placed at the base of the tree to simulate the ground.
  • A lid of a tin container that works as a pot for the tree.
  • Knife, scissors and cutting pliers to separate the copper wire from the plastic cover of the cables.
  • A small cylindrical object on which we can wrap the copper wire around in an area of about 3 cm long, in my case I used a small screwdriver.

Materiales y herramientas utilizadas:

Let's get to the process || Vamos con el proceso

Once the copper is extracted from the cables, we proceed to roll up pieces of wire from 5cm to 10cm approximately until we obtain the shape of a spring.

Then we stretch the spring a little bit. ||Luego vamos estirando un poco el resorte.

We press until the spring is flattened so that it looks like in the next image.

We make a kind of spiral by bending inwards until we obtain a shape like the one in the following image.

We repeat the process until we have enough to start assembling the tree.

We begin to shape the tree by twisting each branch into the desired position.

Once the tree is assembled, we prepare the base by opening small holes to set copper wire and anchor the tree to the pot.

As a last step we add the thin copper wires to the base of the tree.

Here are some photos of the finished Bonsai as you can see its tonality can vary according to the light it reflects.
