This time many inventions are now fast-growing and we admit that we are very grateful for those but we haven't noticed the bad effect to our nature.
Now I'm here to contribute a little conservative way of how to make a pillow out from our natural resources.
kapok tree but alot of name appears when you try to search (doldol in our dialect) a gigantic tree that grows 4 meters per year drops its leafage in the rainy season and flowers occur when leafless(it's amazing that when flowers bloom alot of bats are appearing every night)later on, turns into fibre pods that drop to the ground.
sadly now, using natural fibre is decreasing due to the development of rubber, plastic and synthetic fibre.
We collect it and separate the seeds from the hairy fibre
To make good pillows
Materials needed
- A piece of cloth
- Cotton flowers
- Scissor
- Needle
- Thread
procedures
- Cut the cloth into the desired shape
- Sew and secure but leave a whole
- Stuff the fibre good enough to be compact.
- Lastly, sew and lock.
If you want it more attractive you can simply put pillowcases into it
Now I can have the comfort without speeding much and at the same time helping the environment.

I never knew these resources could be found in trees. That's awesome to make one yourself and friendly for the environment! Well done :)
Thanks, I learned it anyway from my elder relatives before. soon I found out that this tree is available here I never hesitate to make one.
That's awesome, I was just wondering, don't you need to clean it first? Like bowl it or something?
For me, it's optional because base on my experience washing it changes the original texture. So we only remove the seeds . As long as we're picking the clean pods which were not yet opened we are assured 🙂 but maybe to those who have a big manufacturing industry they have the cleaning process.
ah makes sense, as I remember that every pillow (whatever the filling was) came out horrible in the washing machine so I can imagine it wont be helping the texture...
Thanks for the answer, learned something new again!
You're welcome 🙂
Have a great day!
You too!
