Drawing with Friends! | Using Aggie.io for collaborative art

A couple of days ago, four of the @coarebabes hung out via a Zoom call conference. Present were myself (Eya), @debilog, @charlocked (Mia), and another one, Phil, who didn't like her self mentioned anywhere (but I would, because I could).

The agenda was initially simple: help @charlocked trade some of her liquid tokens, because if we wouldn't be proactive enough, they would collect dust and she wouldn't even bother. Haha.

Later on, Phil joined in and @debilog had to leave. The three of us that remained went in pursuit of a satisfying artwork.

The collaborative drawing

So here's the artwork we managed to whip up. I tried really hard to search for the reference we used, but I unfortunately couldn't find it.

Yep, we used a reference... it was just that we didn't exactly follow through. :P As I was the only person out of us three who had a stylus, I got to do the initial and base sketch. Both Phil and Mia started coloring and adding "extra" features as I go through the sketch.

How did we collaborate?

We first needed a program of sorts that would allow us to share our workspace. Phil met a friend who introduced her to Aggie.io, a browser-based platform that allows collaborative workspace for drawing.

You could find who's who in the upper right side, the same way you would in a shared and collaborative Google file. You can even chat with the others in it, too. How the layers worked (accessibility) was difficult to figure out. It appeared that not just anyone can delete a layer.

It still leaves much to work on, but it at least does its job. :) The whole experience was funny and engaging, and everyone of us got to release our inner surrealistic artistry.

Below is a zoomed version of the finished piece. Phil kept saying she was proud of how the face turned out, especially the eyes and mouth. Mia on the other hand was very particular about her flowers and butterflies. Hahahaha.

More to go

We were actually pleased about the outcome. Sure, it looked weird, but surprisingly artistic. Can't wait to have our next art sessions! I'll try to take note of our reference next time, so we can compare our final output to how it initially was intended to be. :P
