Hi everyone! Sharing with you a recent colored pastel portrait of a young boy. Here, I wanted to experiment with the expressive lines of the pastel incorporated into the pencil drawing. In future however, I will aim to hide the pencil marks for the final piece and try doing it all in pastel as I'm not sure if the pencil marks complement the rest of the colors. I will also try one colour in future as the orginal artist did.
Process
Completed on A5 paper with coloured pastels
Head of an Infant in Profile to the Right, ca. 1527
Red chalk
9 3/4 x 7 in. (24.7 x 17.8 cm)
Galleria degli Uffizi, Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe, Florence
Artist: Andrea del Sarto
Andrea in this drawing displays excellent technique and sensitivity with the way the lights touch the face. There is definitely a lot more to learn from the drawings of this renaissance artist.
A good drawing in pencil and pastel, which achieves quality in the imitation of the original work. Greetings, @iansart.
