On this occasion, I would like to share with you how I made a set of pot holders with a donut and coffee cup motif. I really liked this fabric decorated with donuts when I saw it in the store. It was available in green, which I have already used for several projects, and on my recent visit to the castle, I found one with a blue background, which I also liked because of the contrast between the blue color and the donuts and coffee cups that adorn it. The pattern on this fabric is ideal for decorating the kitchen and sewing various projects, in addition to pot holders, placemats, oven mitts, decorating dish towels, aprons, among others.
These pot holders are reversible: one side features donuts, and the other has a fabric print with boats, which I had left over from a project I did several months ago. I loved the blue color, the boats, and the sky, which evoke a sense of tranquility and relaxation when visiting the beach. I used fuchsia bias tape on the edges to match the strawberry jam on these donuts. It's a simple project to make, and you can combine different fabric colors. Hola, hola amigos artesanos y comunidad @hivediy, es un placer saludarles deseando que tengan un feliz y bendecido día en unión de sus seres queridos, en esta ocasión les comparto la elaboración de un set de agarradores ollas con motivo de donas y taza de café, esta tela decorada con donas me gustó mucho desde que la vi en la tienda, había en color verde, con la cual ya he hecho varios proyectos y en mi reciente visita al castillo había una con el fondo azul, la cual también me gustó por el contraste que tiene el color azul con las donas y tazas café que la adornan, el estampado de esta tela es ideal para decorar la cocina y coser varios proyectos, además de los agarradores de ollas, individuales, guantes, decorar los paños de cocina, delantales, entre otros.
Los agarrradores de ollas, son reversibles por un lado las donas y en el otro una tela estampada con barcos, la cual sobró de un proyecto que hice hace varios meses y me encantó el color azul, los barcos y el cielo, que dan un efecto de tranquilidad y relax cuando visitamos la playa, en los bordes utilicé sesgo fucsia para combinar con la mermelada de fresa que tienen estas donas; es un proyecto sencillo de hacer y en el cual se pueden combinar diferentes colores de tela, les invito me acompañen en el proceso de elaboración

The first step in making the potholders was to cut the pieces; four rectangles of 22 * 16 centimeters in main fabric and two rectangles in cociprint fabric, also two rectangles of wadding to quilt and insulate the heat, for a better finish I rounded the corners of the pieces in the boat fabric.

El primer paso para elaborar los agarradores fue cortar las piezas; cuatro rectángulos de 22 * 16 centímetros en tela principal y dos rectángulos en tela cociprint, también dos retángulos de guata para acolchar y aislar el calor, para un mejor acabado redondeé las esquinas de las piezas en la tela de barcos.
Once the pieces were cut, the next step was to assemble the handles. I placed the donut fabric at the bottom, with the wrong side facing up, then the wadding in the center, and on top of that the boat fabric. I secured it with pins to prevent it from moving while sewing.
Cortadas las piezas, el siguiente paso fue ensamblar los agarradores, coloqué la tela de donas abajo, con el revés hacia arriba, luego la guata en el centro y encima la tela de barcos, sujeté con alfileres para evitar que se muevan al momento de coser.
For quilting, it's advisable to leave a margin of fabric and batting. This makes sewing easier, as the fabric sometimes shrinks due to the various seams. Use the main fabric as a guide, since it's the one that has the shape of the pot holder. I started by sewing a straight stitch from the top to the bottom, forming an X. Then I sewed another stitch through the center of this X, and that's how the pieces are joined. Once the seams were finished, I removed the excess fabric and batting.
Para acolchar es recomendable dejar un margen de tela y guata, esto permite coser más cómoda, ya que las telas a veces reducen su tamaño por las diferentes costuras que se pasan, se toma como guía la tela principal, ya que esta es la que tiene la forma del agarrador de ollas; inicié pasando una puntada recta desde el extremo superior hasta el inferior, formé una X, luego pasé otra costura por el centro de esta y así las piezas quedan unidas, terminadas las costuras retiré el exceso de tela y guata.
Then I glued the bias tape all around the edge, using a straight stitch, right sides together, then turned over to cover the back. When gluing the bias tape, you should check that it covers both the front and back of the piece. With these simple steps, two useful and beautiful pot holders are finished, very useful in the kitchen.
Luego pegué el sesgo por todo el contorno, utilizando puntada recta, enfrentando derecho de la tela y derecho del sesgo, luego se voltea para cubrir la parte posterior, al pegar el sesgo se debe ir verificando que éste cubra tanto la parte delantera y trasera de la pieza, con estos sencillos pasos están terminados dos útiles y hermosos agarradores de olla de gran utilidad en la cocina.
