Hello my amazing people of @hivediy community, today I’m here with you with another tutorial of how I make this shoe design. I’m also happy to share it here with my amazing friends on Hive.
So, let’s go into how I made it.
At first, I gathered all the necessary materials and tools that I would use for the work. I did this to make everything easier for me while working.
I used the straight shape for the top of the shoe. I marked it into four places to make a pair of shoes. After marking it, I cut everything into shape. Then I applied this beautiful fancy on top to make the shoe more attractive. Without the fancy, the shoe would not look as attractive, but adding the fancy gave it more beauty.
After I finished cutting the top into four pieces and applying the fancy, I took it to the sewing machine. I sewed around the edges and made sure everything was sewn properly. This sewing part is very important because it gives the shoe a better look and also helps to hold the top together well.
Next, I cut the insole of the shoe. I started by cutting a faceless for the insole and applied it to a light black leather. After fixing it, I marked it, applied gum and folded it roundly. This part needs to be done carefully because if you don’t fold it properly, it can make the shoe look rough. So, I followed it gently to give the shoe a better shape.
After I finished folding the insole, the next thing I did was cut the sole of the shoe. I used black Nora for the sole. I marked it and carefully cut it into shape.
After marking the sole, I placed the insole we just folded at the middle side of the back sole. Then I applied gum around the edge and also applied gum to my welt. I left them to dry in the sun for about 40 minutes.
This part is very important because the gum needs to dry well so that it can hold the shoe tightly. If you don’t do it properly, the welt can start pulling when the owner is wearing the shoe. So, it is important to use quality gum and allow it to dry well before joining the parts together.
After applying the welt to the sole, I hammered the edges properly where the welt was applied. Then I took it to the filing machine and smoothed around the edges of the sole. Without smoothing it, the shoe can look rough, so this part is also very necessary.
Then I picked up the top that I had cut into four pieces and sewn. I also picked up the insole, applied them together and lasted the shoe properly. As I normally say, lasting is one of the difficult parts that some shoemakers face. It is not just about picking up the top and applying it. You have to follow it properly so that the shoe will fit the owner appropriately.
For this shoe, I used my leg to last it because the owner uses the same size as me, so I was able to use my leg to last the shoe.
After that, I pickedPicture up the back sole together with the top that I had just lasted. I applied gum to the back area of the shoe and left it to dry in the sun for over 1 hour 30 minutes so that it could catch and hold the shoe properly. After it dried, I joined the shoe together and hammered it carefully.
And this is the final look of the shoe.
I sincerely enjoyed making this shoe because I didn’t have any problem during the process. Everything worked smoothly, and just like my last tutorial, I didn’t have any problem with light during the work. It took me 2 days to finish making this shoe, and I’m glad that I was able to make it successfully and also share the tutorial here with my friends in this amazing @hivediy community.
I also noticed that I have been making mostly men's shoes lately, so in my next tutorial, I will be making a lady's shoe, and I am sure you will like it.
