Hello dear friends of Hive DIY, I hope you're all doing well. I recently bought some supplies I needed, like notebooks, paper, and pencils, and among those items, I also bought a folder. It's one of those wooden folders with a paperweight on one of the ends, perfect for taking notes. I thought the wooden board would be perfect for drawing and decorating, so I was inspired by Kenshin Himura from the manga Rurouni Kenshin, which is about a former samurai who became a wanderer. The drawing is done entirely with acrylic paint, and here I'll show you step by step how I did it. I hope you like the result and enjoy it. Let's get started!
Hola queridos amigos de Hive Diy, espero que se encuentren muy bien, recientemente compré algunos artículos que necesitaba, como cuadernos, hojas y lápices, y entre esos objetos compre también una carpeta, es de esas carpetas que están hechas de madera y que en uno de sus expremos tienen un pisa papel, sirven para hacer anotaciones. La tabla de madera me pareció excelente para hacer un dibujo y decorarla, así que me inspiré en Kenshin Himura del manga Rurouni Kenshin, que trata de un antiguo samurai que se convirtió en vagabundo. El dibujo está hecho enteramente con pintura acrílica y aquí les muestro paso a paso como lo hice, espero que les guste el resultado y sea de su agrado, comencemos!

To begin, I prepared the wood, just as I've done in previous projects with MDF. I painted it white to create a canvas. After that, I started sketching Kenshin's face with a pencil, trying to fill as much space as possible. Then I painted the background black so that the central drawing would stand out.
Para empezar, preparé la madera, de la misma forma que he realizado anteriores trabajos en madera MDF, pinté con pintura blanca para formar un lienzo sobre el cual pintar. Después de eso comencé a dibujar con un lápiz el boceto del rostro de Kenshin tratando de ocupar la mayor cantidad de espacio posible. Seguidamente pinte el fondo de negro para que luego pueda resaltar el dibujo central.

Using the finest brush and black acrylic paint, I create a first outline of the drawing so I can see which areas I'll be painting. After finishing that, I begin painting the shadows on the face. Since it's in darkness, the darkest color comes first and then lightens as the face becomes more detailed.
Con el pincel más fino y pintura acrílica negra hago un primer delineado del dibujo, así puedo ver cuales zonas estaré pintando. Luego de terminar comienzo a pintar las sombras que se proyectan en el rostro, como está en la oscuridad, el color más profundo viene de primero y luego se va aclarando a medida que el rostro se va detallando mejor.

Then I start to delve deeper into the colors of the face, although it is a cartoon, the quality of the image demands that it has its details so that the definition is the best, I really like the aesthetic of the 90s in terms of anime, not like now when it looks very artificial.
Luego comienzo a profundizar más en los colores del rostro, aunque se trata de un dibujo animado, la calidad de la imagen exige que tenga sus detalles para que la definición sea la mejor, a mi me gusta mucho la estética d elos 90 en cuanto al anime, no como ahora que se ve muy artificial.

I also painted the eyes. In this case, Kenshin had a kind of dual personality. On one hand, he was a tender and kind samurai who had taken to wandering, but on the other, he had a very dark past, having participated as an assassin in a civil war, eliminating important people from the opposing side. After spilling so much blood, he decided to abandon the war and wander Japan, helping people as penance. In the drawing I'm doing, I painted his eyes yellow, a symbol that the legendary samurai has awakened.
Tambien pinto los ojos, en este caso Kenshin tenía una especie de doble personalidad, por un lado era un tierno y amable samurai que se habia dedicado a vagar, sin embargo tenía un pasado muy oscuro, ya que había participado como sicario en una guerra civil, eliminando a persona simportantes del bando contrario. Luego de derramar tanta sangre decidio abandonar la guerra y dedicarse a vagar por Japon ayudando a la gente como penitencia. En el dibujo que estoy haciendo pinte sus ojos de amarillos, símbolo de que ha despertado el legendario samurai.

Then I painted his hair. Although he's known for being a redhead, the tone of his hair also changes, as do his eyes, turning a purple color that reflects his state of mind, as he prepares to use his sword. I gradually added touches with the brush until I covered most of it. Since I had some space left at the top, I decided to add the official anime lettering, which says Rurouni Kenshin in Japanese.
Luego he pintado su cabello, aunque es conocido por ser pelirrojo, el tono de su cabello también cambia al igual que sus ojos, tornándose de un color púrpura que refleja el estado de su mente, el cual se prepara para utilizar su espada. Voy puntando poco a poco con el pincel hatsa cubrir la mayor parte. Como me sobró espacio en la aprte superior, le quise hacer las letras oficiales del anime, donde dice Rurouni Kenshin en japones.
What did you think of the result? The lettering turned out great; I felt like a real Japanese artisan while I was painting it, haha, even though I'm nowhere near their level of discipline. I really liked this drawing I did; it's the second time I've drawn this character, and I feel like the result turned out better with paint than with colored pencils. I hope you liked it. Qué les ha parecido el reusltado? el acabado de las letras fueron geniales, me sentí todo un artesano japonés mientras las pintaba jejeje, aunque estoy muy lejos de la disciplina que ellos tienen. Me gustó mucho esta representación que hice, es la segunda vez que hago un dibujo con este protagonista y siento que me quedó mejor el resultado así con pintura que haciendolo con lapices de colores.
