Hello dear artist friends, I hope you are doing very well, doing the things you like most. I've seen a lot of posts about Christmas and I think I'm the last one getting on that wave, so I want to share my first Christmas post with you. I have made a drawing of a beautiful golden Christmas ball, one of those that we put on our tree and that our cats love to knock down without mercy, this drawing is made on black paper, it seemed more appropriate to highlight the color and also a 3D effect, I hope you like it, let's get started!
Hola queridos amigos artistas, espero que se encuentren muy bien, haciendo las cosas que mas les gusten. He visto muchas publicaciones referente a la navidad y creo que soy el último que se esta subiendo en esa onda, así que quiero compartir mi primera publicación navideña con ustedes. He realizado un dibujo de una hermosa bola de navidad de color dorado, de esas que ponemos en nuestro árbol y que a nuestros gatos les encanta derribarlas sin piedad, este dibujo está realizado sobre papel negro, me pareció mas adecuado para resaltar el color y también un efecto en 3D, espero que les agrade, comencemos!

I started with a circle, I made several sizes since I couldn't decide on one in particular, until I made one of a size where the 3D effect could be made better, I started the sketch with a white wax pencil that is easy to erase and cover using Other colors.
Comencé con un círculo, hice varios tamaños ya que no me decidía por uno en especial, hasta que hice uno de un tamaño donde pudiera hacerse mejor el efecto 3D, comencé el boceto con un lápiz blanco de cera que es fácil de borrar y cubrir usando otros colores.

I filled the drawing with base colors, starting with white, so that the tones to achieve the golden color would be clear, after this I began to use a very light yellow tone, the lightest of all, and from this base I began to darken. The figures that are reflected in a chrome sphere are always distorted, and to make this distortion we must use figures of arcs, everything we are going to do must be done in the shape of an arc and thus use colors.
Rellené el dibujo con colores bases, empezado con el blanco, para que así los tonos para conseguir el color dorado quedaran claros, luego de esto comencé a usar un tono amarillo muy claro, el más claro de todos, y a partir de esta base comenzar a oscurecer. Las figuras que se reflejan en una esfera de cromo siempre se distorsionan, y para hacer esta distorsión debemos usar figuras de arcos, cada cosa que vayamos hacer debemos hacerla en forma de arco y así utilizar los colores.

In the next step I changed the tones to darker ones, such as an ocher yellow, in the same way I also used black to highlight small details, unlike other types of drawings, here the color black is used directly since the cardboard is black, and this can darken a little more. The first light reflections I make are made using the white charcoal color.
En el siguiente paso fui cambiando los tonos a unos más oscuros, como por ejemplo, un amarillo ocre, de la misma forma también utilicé color negro para resaltar pequeños detalles, al contrario de otra clase de dibujos, aquí si se utiliza el color negro directamente ya que la cartulina es de color negro, y este puede oscurecer un poco más. Los primeros reflejos de luz que hago, los realizo usando el color blanco de carboncillo.

Then I start from the beginning, applying the same colors using the same strokes, this is like turning up the volume to a song that we like. In this way we will make the line more uniform and you can see the effect of the reflection of light and the environment in the sphere. Another important step is to make flashes of light on the edges of the circle, this makes the effect achieved faster.
Después comienzo desde el principio, a aplicar los mismos colores usando los mismos trazos, esto es como subir más el volumen a una canción que nos gusta. De esta manera hacermos que el trazo tenga más uniformidad y se pueda ver el efecto del reflejo de la luz y el ambiente en la esfera. Otro paso importantes es hacer destellos de luz en los bordes del círculo, esto hace que el efecto pueda lograrse más rápido.

Next I added other details, such as the place where the ball is attached to the Christmas tree where it has a small rope, I also drew that part. And as for the color, I used a light brown and a terracotta red to finish making a degradation of the tone and thus achieve the golden effect, at the base of the ball I made a small white light reflection and on the other side with black I made a shadow, which when taking the photos at an angle you can see the 3D effect
Seguidamente agregué otros detalles, como el lugar por donde se sujeta la bola al árbol de navidad donde trae una pequeña cuerda, esa parte también la dibuje. Y en cuanto al color utilicé un café claro y un rojo terracota para terminar de hacer una degradación del tono y así conseguir el efecto dorado, en la base de la bola hice un pequeño reflejo de luz blanco y por el otro lado con color negro hice una sombra, que al tomarse las fotos de manera inclinada se puede ver eel efecto 3D
