Hello dear friends of Hive Diy, I hope you are all doing well. This time I'm back to share a new creation with you. It's been a long time since I last worked with soda cans. They're not easy to find and require more expensive materials. However, thanks to providence, I was able to gather some, so I decided to make a figure. That's how the idea for this keychain came about. Infamous Iron Man is the result of Viktor Doom, known as Doctor Doom, the archenemy of the Fantastic Four, continuing Tony Stark's legacy after his death. By combining magic with technology, he created a new armor that he used to fight crime using unorthodox means. I really liked the story, and even more so his armor, which is why I used the helmet as a reference to make it, gathering drawings and templates from different parts. Without further ado, I'll briefly explain step by step how I did it. I hope you like it.
Hola queridos amigos de Hive Diy, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, en esta oportunidad he regresado para compartir con ustedes una nueva creación. Desde hace mucho tiempo que no trabajaba con latas de soda, no son fáciles de encontrar y demanda el uso de materiales más costosos, sin embargo, gracias a la providencia he podido reunir algunas por lo que quise hacer alguna figura es así como surgió la idea de este llavero. Infamous Iron Man es el resultado de que Viktor Doom, conocido como Doctor Doom, el archienemigo de los Cuatro Fantásticos, siguiera con el legado de Tony Stark luego de que este falleciera, uniendo la magia con la tecnología creó una nueva armadura la cual utilizó para luchar contra el crimen utilizando medios poco ortodoxos. La historia me gustó mucho y aun más su armadura, es por eso que tomé el casco como referencia para hacerlo, reuniendo de diferentes partes dibujos y plantillas. Sin más nada que agregar les comentaré brevemente paso a paso como lo hice, espero que les guste.

I got some cans, some were given to me as gifts and others I found myself. My goal is to make a scale figure, but drawing the parts takes time, so I decided to start with the helmet, but in keychain form. So what I did was wash them clean and then cut them one by one to convert them into aluminum sheets on which to make the templates. Since it's the helmet, it looks very similar to Iron Man's, only with some slight modifications that make it a little simpler and easier to draw.
Conseguí algunas latas, unas me las regalaron y otras las busqué, porque mi propósito es hacer una figura a escala pero dibujar las partes lleva tiempo así que decidí comenzar con el casco pero en forma de llavero. Así que lo que hice fue lavarlas limpiarlas y luego cortarlas una a una para convertirlas en hojas de aluminio sobre la cual hacer las plantillas. Como se trata del casco el cual se parece mucho al de Iron man solo que tiene unas ligeras modificaciones que lo hacen un poco más simple y fácil de dibujar.

First, I started by drawing the front of the helmet. As you can see, it's very similar to Iron Man's original helmet from the comics, with only a slight variation. After converting the cans into thin sheets of aluminum, I glued the template onto it and then gradually cut it out. Once I've cut the piece, I draw lines on top of the can with a pen. These lines are where the mask can later be folded and shaped.
En primer lugar comencé dibujando la parte frontal del casco, como pueden ver es muy parecido al casco original de Iron Man en los comics, solo varía un poco, luego de haber convertido las latas en finas láminas de aluminio, encima de ella coloco la plantilla con pegamento para luego poco a poco recortar. Una vez que ya he cortado la pieza lo que hago es dibujar con un bolígrafo las lineas encima de la lata, estas líneas son por donde la máscara luego se podrá doblar y dar forma.

Next, as I mentioned earlier, I begin to shape it. With one of the gouges, I begin to open the eye area, which I had previously marked with the pen, gradually removing the aluminum layer. Then, with my fingers, I shape the mask, and glue is placed on the top fold to join the parts together.
Seguidamente como había comentado anteriormente comienzo a darle forma, con una de las gubias comienzo a abrir la parte de los ojos, que antes ya había marcado con el bolígrafo, poco a poco voy retirando la capa de aluminio. Luego con los dedos voy moldeando la máscara y en el pliegue de la parte superior se coloca pegamento para unir esas partes.

I applied the glue to the top and then held it in place with clamps until it was very firm. Next, I began cutting the side pieces that cover the head. Just like the previous piece, I glued the template to the can and cut it until both pieces were removed.
Puse el pegamento en la parte superior y luego con uan pinza lo sostuve hasta que quedara firme muy firme. Seguidamente comencé a cortar las piezas laterales que cubren la cabeza, al igual que la pieza anterior, pego la plantilla en la lata y la voy cortando hasta sacar ambas piezas.

Once both side pieces are cut, I begin gluing them to the front, first the left and then the right. To ensure the glue does its job properly, hold the pieces where I applied the glue tightly with clamps for a few minutes.
Una vez que ambas piezas laterales estan cortadas, comienzo a unirlas con pegamento con la parte frontal, primero la parte izquierda y luego la derecha. Para que el pegamento haga bien su trabajo, con la pinza sujeto muy bien por unos minutos por las partes donde puse el pegamento.

Now I just need to add the upper area that covers the skull. This figure has an oval shape. I take its template and glue it onto the green sheet. I cut it out and then shape it with the pen. Once I've modeled it, I apply glue to the tabs and join it together little by little. You can see how the helmet looks when you put this piece in place.
Ahora solo flata agregar la zona superior que cubre el cráneo, esta figura tiene una forma ovalada, la cual tomo su plantilla y la pego en la lámina de color verde, la voy cortando para luego darle forma con el bolígrafo. Una vez que ya la he modelado coloco pegamento en las pestañas y la voy uniendo poco a poco, se puede apreciar como el casco va quedando al poner esta pieza.

To finish, I placed two small pieces of aluminum foil on the front, since the area above the eyes is bulkier. I then placed two pieces on the lower sides to complete the mask, as well as on the neck. Finally, I added the chain for the keychain, and that's it.
Para finalizar, en la aprte forntal coloco 2 pequeñas piezas de aluminol, ya que esa parte que está encima de los ojos está mas abultada. Asi en la parte inferior de los laterales pongo dos piezaspara completar la máscara, así también en la parte del cuello. Por último agrego la cadena para el llavero y así quedó finalizado.
What did you think of the result? The green cans were a little battered, but I think that adds a little aesthetic appeal, as you can see the battle scars. The hardest part was the front, as the cut down the middle of the forehead wasn't easy to join, but I really liked the rest of the result. I was amazed and decided to make the full armor. I hope to have the rest of the materials soon so I can get to work. For now, don't forget to comment on what you think of the result. See you another time!
¿Qué les ha parecido el resultado? LAs latas de color verde estaban un poco golpeadas, pero creo que eso le da un plus en en estética ya que se puede apreciar como cicatrices de las batallas. La parte que más me costó fue la parte frontal, ya que el corte que va en medio de la frente no fue fácil de unir, pero del resto me gustó mucho el resultado. Quedé maravillado y he tomado la decisión de hacver la armadura completa, espero pronto tener el resto de materiales y así pondré manos a la obra. A true craftsman! It's incredible that you achieved such a fantastic result with soft drink cans. I think it's not easy at all, not only cutting each part and shaping it, cutting the small eyes and doing it as precisely as possible, but also because everything is small and working on a small scale is complicated. But you did a great job!
You chose a spectacular character and the green colour gave it style, and as you say, the fact that the can was battered is like battle scars. The helmet has expression and you've ended up with an original and very handcrafted keyring. Congratulations! A big hug!
