Splinterlands / Hugo Strongswordd
I wanted to make some crafts as a tribute to the characters of Splinterlands, so different with personality, powerful color palettes, etc. and after thinking so much, inspiration finally came to me:
I recently finished the series Dexter, which I absolutely loved. In it, Leon Prater is a billionaire who not only has a fascination with serial killers, but also organizes a secret society of killers and even has a personal museum, or "Trophy Room," where he keeps artifacts and memorabilia.
Leon Prater's "Trophy Museum" served as an inspiration to me. Just as Prater obsesses over the unique memorabilia of serial killers, I've decided to channel that fascination into creating content around the characters of Splinterlands and their weapons. I find it equally intriguing and worthwhile to explore the diversity of the characters and the personalized weaponry that defines each of them.
Quería realizar algunas manualidades como Tributo a los personajes de Splinterlands, tan diferentes con personalidad, poderosas paletas de colores, etc. y de tanto pensar, por fin me llegó la inspiración:
Hace poco terminé la serie Dexter la cual amé, y en ella Leon Prater es un multimillonario que no solo tiene una fascinación por los asesinos en serie, sino que organiza una sociedad secreta de asesinos e incluso tiene un museo o "Sala de Trofeos" personal donde guarda objetos y recuerdos.
El 'Museo de Trofeos' de Leon Prater me sirvió de inspiración. Al igual que Prater se obsesiona con los recuerdos únicos de los asesinos en serie, he decidido canalizar esa fascinación para crear contenido en torno a los personajes de Splinterlands y sus armas, me parece igualmente intrigante y valioso explorar la diversidad de los personajes y el armamento personalizado que define a cada uno de ellos.
Splinterlands / Hugo Strongswordd
I decided to start with Hugo Strongsword because it has a very elegant and understated sword and shield. I think they'll look great on the base I made previously to display the weapons I'm making. It's a round base covered in adhesive paper that simulates marble, since I want to use stop motion for the weapons I make, as a display.

Decidí comenzar con Hugo Strongsword porque tiene una espada y un escudo muy elegantes y sobrios, creo que se verán excelentes en la base que realicé previamente para exponer las armas que voy haciendo, es una base redonda forrada en papel adhesivo que simula mármol, ya que quiero hacer Stop Motion a las armas que haga, a manera de exhibición.

- Black, gold, and silver cardstock
- Florist's wire
- Gold pellets
- Hot glue
- Scissors, box cutter, and awl
- Ruler and compass

First, I started creating the sword design. For this, I used a set square, a pen, and a piece of paper.
Since the design was as similar to Hugo Strongsword as possible, I cut out the three parts it comprises. I'll keep them separate so I can cut this pattern in the corresponding colors.
For the sword blade material, I used matte silver cardstock, which I cut twice. Then, I glued a piece of florist's wire to give it structure.
Primero comencé a crear el diseño de la espada, para esto utilicé una escuadra, bolígrafo y una hoja.
Al tener el diseño lo más parecido a la espada de Hugo Strongsword, corté las 3 partes de la comprenden, las tendré por separado para poder cortar este patrón en los colores correspondientes.Para el material de la hoja de la espada, utilicé cartulina plateada mate, que corté 2 veces. Luego, pegué un pedazo de alambre de floristería para darle estructura.

I glued the other silver piece of the sword blade with hot glue, so the wire sits between the two. It's important to leave the wire exposed at the top of the sword blade to continue the design and maintain the strength of the wire structure.
Then, I cut a strip of black cardstock and wrapped it around the top to simulate the handle of Hugo Strongsword.
From gold cardstock, I cut the piece corresponding to the sword design twice and glued it side by side to the border of the sword blade and handle.
Pegué con silicón caliente la otra pieza plateada de la hoja de la espada, de manera que el alambre queda entre las dos. Es importante que el alambre quede expuesto en la parte superior de la hoja de la espada para seguir con el diseño y que tenga la fuerza de la estructura del alambre.
Luego, corté una tira de cartulina negra, y la enrollé arriba para simular el mango de la espada de Hugo Strongsword.
En cartulina dorada, corté 2 veces la pieza que corresponde al diseño de la espada, y la pegué de lado y lado en el límite de la hoja de la espada y su mango.

To finish the sword, I attached a gold pellet to the top tip with hot glue, and it fit perfectly into the pellet hole and the florist's wire that reached that point.
With the florist's wire providing structure, the sword is easier to handle and will have more integrity than cardboard alone.
Para terminar con la espada, coloqué un balín dorados en la punta superior, con silicón caliente, y entró perfecto en la perforación del balín y el alambre de floristería que llegó hasta ese punto.
Con el alambre de floristería dando estructura la espada se puede manipular mejor y tendrá más integridad que solo la cartulina.

For the shield, I drew it following the design, which consists of two gold pieces and two black pieces. I cut them out and then glued them in place.
Para el Escudo realicé el dibujo siguiendo el diseño que son dos piezas de color dorado y dos piezas de color negro. Las recorté y luego pegué en su respectivo lugar.

Although the back of the shield isn't visible in the Hugo Strongsword card or image, I imagine it must be made of a very strong piece of leather for this warrior to be able to hold the shield. So I cut a strip of brown leather, folded its ends inward, and glued it to the back of the shield, leaving a space for Hugo to insert his powerful arm.
On the round base for displaying the weapons, which I had made prior to this tutorial, I decided to place a piece of florist's wire in the center and secure it with hot glue underneath. This will allow me to place the weapons vertically so I can display them from all sides.
Aunque en la carta o imagen de Hugo Strongsword no se visualiza por la parte de atrás el escudo, pues imagino que debe tener una pieza de cuero muy fuerte para que este guerrero pueda tener el escudo. Así que corté una tira de color marrón, doblé sus puntas hacia adentro y pegué en el reverso del escudo dejando un espacio para que Hugo pueda meter su poderoso brazo.
En la base redonda para exhibir las armas, que había realizado previamente a este tutorial, decidí colocarle un trozo de alambre de floristería en el centro, y fijé con silicón caliente por debajo. Esto me permitirá colocar las armas de forma vertical para poder mostrarlas por todos sus lados.

This is how Hugo Strongsword's Sword and Shield turned out. I loved it. The camera doesn't do it justice for how beautiful it looks on my desk.
The wire in the center of the round base was really useful for display, and it will continue to be so with future creations.
Así quedaron la Espada y el Escudo de Hugo Strongsword, me encantó, la cámara no le hace justicia para lo bello que se ve en mi escritorio.
El alambre en el centro de la base redonda realmente me fue muy útil para exhibir, y lo seguirá siendo con las futuras creaciones.
I was very pleased to see the final result. I think I'll gradually improve, because practice makes perfect. So I'll continue developing this idea of content creation and paying tribute to the spectacular characters of Splinterlands.
Me dio mucha satisfacción ver el resultado final, creo que progresivamente iré mejorando, porque la práctica hace al maestro, así que seguiré desarrollando esta idea de creación de contenido, y haciendo mi tributo a los espectaculares personajes de Splinterlandas.

Es una gran idea lo del Museo de las Armas de los personajes de Splinterlands. A veces si, las ideas están en el aire y si prestamos atención las logramos ver.
Cierto, solemos pensar que la idea llega a nosotros, pero es así como dices, nosotros llegamos a ella.
que bonita te quedó la espada, especialmente ese color dorado en el escudo. Toda una belleza.
