¡Bienvenido a un nuevo post, querido Hiver!

Ayer fue mi presentación de pasantías, así que hubo mucho trabajo que hacer.

Algo de ello fue realizar regalos para mis profesores con mucho amor y agradecimiento por todas sus enseñanzas, así como consejos que me han dado en la carrera universitaria.

Si me conoces, sabes qué tendrá que ver con plantas, ¿cierto? Por lo que decidí regalarles algunas de ellas.

Como verás, el resultado final es el de la fotografía de la portada, pero, lo que no sabes es la historia detrás de ello, pues estos hermosos cactus fueron sembrados desde que empecé las pasantías, por lo que su tamaño se debe a ese periodo de tiempo.

Justo en ese momento pensé en lo que deseaba darle a mis profesores, algo hecho con amor, algo en lo que pensé, que cuidé con mis manos.

Así que, como siempre es bueno compartir, también quiero mostrarte el paso a paso, para que también puedas darle algo muy especial a una persona importante en tu vida.

Materiales

Macetas. El tamaño es de tu preferencia, y el tipo de maceta también. Las mías son pequeñas como el tamaño de mi mano, mientras que el material es de barro.

Asegurate siempre de que tus macetas tengan huecos de drenaje, de lo contrario deberás hacerlos. En mi caso estas ya los tenían.

Plantas. En cada maceta usé 2 especies de cactus diferentes que aún son pequeños, también le añadí una "mala madre bebé".
Tierra u abono. Para esta ocasión estuve usando una tierra hecha a base de materia orgánica que suelo crear en casa.
Piedras decorativas de tu elección. Ame las que ves en la foto porque brillan un poco, son transparentes y de colores muy lindos.
Un mensaje impreso en cartulina opalina.
Palos de altura.
Silicon.

Proceso

¿Cómo hago un mensaje personalizado?

Como verás, cada maceta tiene un pequeño cartel, en el cual escribí un mensaje, agradecimiento y un versículo que a mí me gusta mucho de la Biblia.

Para ello estuve usando Canva.

Lo primero que hice fue crear un nuevo documento tamaño carta (21,59 x 27,94 cm).

Yesterday was my internship presentation, so there was a lot of work to do.

Some of it was making gifts for my professors with much love and gratitude for all their teachings, as well as the advice they've given me throughout my college career.

If you know me, you know I've got to do with plants, right? So I decided to give them some of them.

As you'll see, the final result is the one in the cover photo, but what you don't know is the story behind it. These beautiful cacti were planted since I started my internship, so their size is due to that period of time.

Right at that moment, I thought about what I wanted to give my professors: something made with love, something I thought about, something I cared for with my hands.

So, as it's always good to share, I also want to show you the step-by-step process so you can also give something very special to an important person in your life.

Materials

Pots. The size is up to you, as is the type of pot. Mine are small, about the size of my hand, and the material is clay.

Always make sure your pots have drainage holes; otherwise, you'll need to make them. In mine, these already did.

Plants. I used two different species of cactus that are still small in size in each pot, and I also added a "baby bad mother."
Soil or fertilizer. For this occasion, I used a soil made from organic matter that I usually make at home.
Decorative stones of your choice. I love the ones you see in the photo because they shine a little, are transparent, and have very pretty colors.
A message printed on opalescent cardstock.
Tall sticks.
Silicone.

Process

How do I make a personalized message?

As you'll see, each pot has a small sign, on which I wrote a message, a thank you, and a Bible verse I really like.

For this, I used Canva.

The first thing I did was create a new letter-sized document (8.5 x 11 inches).

Coloqué un marco y dentro de este hice todo el diseño. Después ese diseño lo dupliqué 3 veces más, debido a que eran 4 macetas.

Una vez estuvo listo y confirmé que todo estuviese bien (porque siempre hay que leer y corregir antes de imprimir), lo guardé en PDF y lo imprimí.

Ahora, comencemos con la acción.

Después de ello compré las macetas, puedes encontrarlas en viveros, y también en tiendas de objetos para el hogar.

I placed a frame and created the entire design inside it. Then I duplicated that design three more times, since there were four pots.

Once it was ready and I confirmed that everything was correct (because you always have to proofread and correct before printing), I saved it as a PDF and printed it.

Now, let's get started.

After that, I bought the pots; you can find them at nurseries and home improvement stores.

Quise que estas fueran pequeñas porque me parecía más elegante y también fácil de llevar a la universidad.

Algo importante es que las plantas que vas a colocar en ella deben de entrar, es decir, ser de un tamaño apropiado.

I wanted these to be small because it seemed more elegant and also easier to carry to college.

An important thing is that the plants you're going to place in it must fit, meaning they must be an appropriate size.

Las "malas madres bebés" fue un invento de último minuto. Pero nada más míralas, se ven perfectas para este maravilloso plan.

Las mías son pequeñas, así que cumplimos con ello.

Luego llenamos las macetas con tierra, uso una pala de jardín para hacerlo. Si no tienes las manos (aunque no lo recomiendo tanto porque la tierra puede dejarlas un poco rústicas), o una espátula sirve para ello.

The "bad baby mothers" were a last-minute invention. But just look at them, they look perfect for this wonderful plan.

Mine are small, so we stuck to it.

Then we filled the pots with soil. I used a garden shovel to do this. If you don't have strong hands (although I don't recommend it as much because the soil can make them a bit rough), a spatula works well.

Ahora empecemos a colocar las plantas.

Primero empecé con las "malas madres bebés", porque son más fáciles de colocar. Estas no tienen espinas.

Now let's start placing the plants.

I started with the "bad baby mothers" first, because they're easier to place. These don't have thorns.

Luego, con mucho cuidado y la ayuda de una pinza para trabajar bisutería, tome los cactus para irlos sembrando dentro de las macetas.

Importante: Usar una pinza o un alicate te ayudará a no pincharte con las púas de los cactus. Esto lo recomiendo siempre porque no es sencillo ni agradable quitarte las púas de las manos. Duele un montón.

Then, very carefully and with the help of jewelry-making tweezers, pick up the cacti to plant them in the pots.

Important: Using tweezers or wire cutters will help you avoid pricking yourself with the cactus spines. I always recommend this because it's neither easy nor pleasant to remove the spines from your hands. It hurts a lot.

Le colocamos las piedras decorativas a nuestro gusto, y así quedaría:

We place the decorative stones to our liking, and this is how it would look:

Ahora solo falta nuestro cartel. Como te comentaba, lo imprimí en cartulina opalina. También lo recorté y pegué sobre los palitos de altura.

Para ello usé silicon frío, también puedes usar silicon caliente.

Una vez que estuvieron bien secos, usé el palito de altura que pegué al cartel para enterrarlos en la maceta con mucho cuidado.

El lugar es el de tu elección.

Por lo que así quedaría el resultado final:

Now all that's left is our sign. As I mentioned, I printed it on opal cardstock. I also cut it out and glued it onto the sticks.

I used cold silicone for this; you can also use hot silicone.

Once they were completely dry, I used the stick I glued to the sign to carefully bury them in the pot.

The location is your choice.

So, this is the final result:
