Deep in the hinterland of North Aceh, there is a waterfall spot that local people call the Blang Kulam twin waterfalls. There, the damselfly habitat was found with a colorful body.

Based on the physical appearance of the damselfly, it can be identified that it is a species of Euphaea variegata, commonly known as the Sundanese gossamerwing, a species of damselfly belonging to the family Euphaeidae.

They are not far from the surroundings of the waterfall; you can find that they fly low over the water and perch on river rocks or weeds that grow along the banks of the river. Yes, it is an environment that provides many sources of food for damselflies and other insect predators.

Euphaea variegata has a stocky body and is somewhat larger than most damselflies. It has a black chest with green stripes, wings that are blackish brown with purple markings, and a slender black abdomen that is about 3–4 cm long.

Apart from the Euphaea variegata species, other damselfly species also live in this relatively wet environment. I will share them next time.
