Schizophyllum commune or the gill fungus is a species of fungus in the genus Schizophyllum . This fungus resembles a dense coral reef fan. It has gills that vary in shape from creamy yellow to pale white. It is known as the split gill fungus because of the unique characteristic of the "gills" that are split lengthwise on the underside of the cap. This fungus is found worldwide. wikipediA
