The Latin name for this herb is Coprinellus flocculosus, a species of agaric mushroom in the Psathyrellaceae family. This fragile spore-bearing mushroom has a dark brownish cap and a white stem. Its texture is brittle and easily broken at the stem or cap, which is easily broken.

The cap has fine hairs on it, and it can also open wide. Other varieties of this mushroom have a dark orange color.
