Cocoon of an Acraea terpsicore butterfly

in Nature Observer6 months ago

Hello dear friends #natureobserver good afternoon wherever you are.....

Look there is something interesting hanging gracefully on a piece of a plant branch. It is a cocoon of an Acraea terpsicore butterfly, it hangs quietly on the branch hiding the secret of its metamorphosis. The cocoon is small in size but its bold pure white color decorated with black lines and a few orange spots, managed to attract my attention. I was stunned by its pattern.

If observed closely the pattern of the cocoon is like a tribal painting hanging gracefully in the middle of nature surrounded by fresh green leaves. When I meet interesting things that are magical like this, I always pause for a moment and imagine how extraordinary the process of a change that takes place slowly but surely.

The cocoon that just stayed still on the branch managed to amaze me, especially later when it has wings and has other striking colors. Surely its appearance is much more amazing like a rock star on stage. If I ever have time to go to this place, I want to monitor this cocoon. I want to see when its wings first open to the world.
