Lesser dart butterfly

in Nature Observer22 hours ago

Atop a pale yellow flower, a lesser dart butterfly sat quietly sipping nectar. Its charm was as peaceful as a ray of dusk lost in a garden of euphorbias. The butterfly was small, but had a plump body and dense feathers—characteristics rarely found in medium-sized and large butterflies. Its color combination was also very sweet, black blending beautifully with brownish-orange. A very harmonious blend, perfectly suited to the spot where it perched. It gave a peaceful and calming impression.

A pair of black eyes continued to gaze at the world, unblinking. Occasionally, its antennae moved gently, following the gentle rhythm of the morning breeze. Its slender legs rested lightly on the flower petals, not grasping them tightly. Perhaps it realized that beauty should be treated with tenderness. Its long proboscis also caught my attention. It slowly reached out and traced the center of the flower to suck up a drop of delicious nectar.
