Hello trainers!
We continue talking about the story I have planned with Holozing. In the previous post, we talked about how I could merge my story with the development team's premise. They gave me several tips on how to do it, and I found it very interesting to create two different lores: one set at the time when humans first meet the creatures, and another where the creatures seem extinct.
In both periods, there were all kinds of tensions and objectives. Today we'll continue with the main story, that is, where humans confront the creatures and get to know them in depth. This time, we're going to talk about the powers of the holo-creatures and why humans are so interested in having their power and creating tools to use them.
The Elemental Islands
A while ago, I introduced the concept of elemental islands to my story, saying that they are a handful of sediments that have accumulated over thousands of years until they float 5 islands, each developing life with strange powers.
Those powers were a match, yes, you guessed it, the Elements
Fire, Air, Earth, Water...
The point is that these islands also developed their own secondary ecosystems. There, the creatures' powers became even stranger, almost unpredictable,
as if nature itself played by the rules it had originally created. Thus, derivatives emerged from the four classical elements that humans were quick to catalog.
For example, on the Island of Water, in addition to creatures with an affinity for ocean currents or rain, species that manipulated ice, fog, and even lunar tides began to appear. On the Island of Fire, it wasn't all lava and flames: creatures with the ability to generate internal heat capable of healing wounds or causing spontaneous combustion from a distance were also recorded.
The Island of Air produced beings that could create illusions, distort sound, and even shape atmospheric pressure, while the Island of Earth housed creatures capable of altering metals, controlling plant growth, or communicating through the vibration of the ground.
These powers were so varied and valuable that humans saw almost unlimited potential in them. Not only were they fascinating for their rarity, but they offered the possibility of changing everyday life and the way the world worked.
This is where the main conflict arose.
Not all humans shared the same intentions regarding the holo-creatures. For some, they were companions, almost brothers in this new stage of history. For others, they were resources that had to be tamed, locked away...
And at the center of that tension were the creatures, whose intelligence varied depending on their evolution, as I explained in another post.
The first attempts at "holo technology" were quite rudimentary. Some hunters managed to enclose fragments of elemental energy in gems or containers, using them as talismans.
Over time, however, more sophisticated tools were developed: gloves that released gusts of wind, spears coated with perpetual fire, compasses... and with them, people who saw the creatures as mere trophies to be claimed.
In my story, the factions that want to take control of the creatures at all costs are not yet so evident36
Another, much more pragmatic and greedy, saw energy extraction as the key to dominating not only the islands, but the entire known world. And in between, the majority of human communities, simply trying to survive in a world where these creatures could be both a blessing and a threat.
The mystery of the Elemental Islands wasn't limited to their creatures alone. Some ancient tales spoke of a hidden core beneath each island, a primal source that fueled the ecosystem with pure energy.
(you can imagine it as radiation) the source of the creatures' power.
The wisest warned that playing with these cores could have catastrophic consequences, but we already know how human ambition is: the greater the power, the more irresistible the temptation to control it becomes.
Thus, the stage was set: humans and holo-creatures sharing a world in constant tension. The floating islands were a treasure and, at the same time, a curse. And while some dreamed of a future of cooperation, others were already building the first holo-weapons, convinced that only through force would the dominion of the elements be ensured.
