allocate as Aqua

Hello everyone. I’m back again with my new illustration for this week, dedicated to the Holozing community. This time, I wanted to draw one of their female characters, Aqua. I had already drawn her yesterday, but I decided to bring you another piece of her since she is a very striking character. In this illustration, I wanted to combine her design with another idea.

My concept was simple, although it ended up being a double drawing. The reason is that I made the character of Aqua look very similar to my partner, whom I admire a lot. Although she commented that it didn't look entirely like her, my main intention was to base it on her more than on Aqua herself. Then, I dedicated myself to subtly transforming it to maintain Aqua's appearance and essence. The result is a character in a playful pose, looking directly at us.

As you already know, I like to present my process in steps..

Step 1: The Lineart and Composition I love to work with the lineart first. It’s what I always do. I look for dynamic poses, and over time, I realize that my style is quite similar to other artists I admire. The lineart was simple, especially working with Aqua's outfit, which is quite easy to replicate. Although I focused on the composition, it’s possible there might be some anatomical errors.

Step 2: Base Colors (Skin and Attire) In this section, I focus on applying color in layers. I start with the skin, using very light tones. Then I continue with the clothing, applying semi-purple tones that tend to be dark. Next, I moved on to the water parts or light blue details, to finally work on the hair, which is the outermost layer.

Step 3: Final Details and Ambiance This is my favorite part: the final details. Here I work on the eyes, mouth, and other small elements. I wanted to add some glasses to give her more style and, without being identical to Aqua's, to maintain part of her essence. For the background, I made an effort to create extravagant lighting with two light sources: a pink and a light blue one, which hit from both sides to make the character stand out more.
