Zingtober Day #9 Heavy 𝄂𝄂—𝄂𝄂

Too cute to move

Hey Healers! As you can see, I’ve completely lost control of Inktober. I slacked off for a couple of days, and any hope of keeping up with the challenge went out the window—but I’m not giving up yet! It’s too early for that.

🔅 Ninth Prompt: Heavy

For this prompt, I wanted to stick with something cute—so I drew a little Miu perched on one of the buffest Holos, Terraox. I’d never drawn these two before, so I thought it’d be perfect to feature them together in a fun scene.

🧠 TOOLS USED:

  • Photoshop (as always, my digital salvation).
  • Brushes: my trusty brush pack, with a few new ones featuring glitter effects
  • Resolution: 2048x2400 px

(Thx to @holozing for such adorable creatures to bring to life!)

⏰ CREATIVE PROCESS

✏️ Phase 1: Ibis Paint for Sketching

First of all, I want to thank @emanate-artworx for showing me how to flip all layers at once in Ibis Paint. It was actually super simple—I just didn’t figure it out on my own. Being able to flip a drawing horizontally is a game-changer, and I highly recommend it for fixing mistakes and keeping things from looking crooked.

I wanted to draw Terraox for the first time—a dragon I hadn’t drawn until now. But trying to draw him from a direct head-on view ended up complicating my life. No matter how much I sketched, I felt like it didn’t look enough like the original design of his head. I stubbornly refused to draw it in the same pose as the original design because it felt like just redrawing the same thing—and I already had Miu in a basic pose anyway.

🎨 Phase 2: Lineart

As I mentioned earlier, I really had a battle with myself trying to get Terraox's head right. Maybe on another occasion I'll give his head a better design that highlights his horns more prominently, but I did manage to capture his expression of effort—bearing the full weight of Miu's cuteness. By the way, here Miu ended up looking a lot like the robot cat from the Buzz Lightyear movie. 🐱🚀

🌗 Phase 3: Ink

I tried to shape Terraox's muscles to show the strain of supporting Miu's weight. To emphasize the heaviness even more, I added vertical lines that simulate gravity or the pressure from Miu

🌟 Phase 4: Final Touches

I separated Miu's little ears so it would stop looking like the Buzz Lightyear cat, made its pupils really dilated, and added lots of tiny sparkles to make it look super cute. I finished off the effort effect with a motion blur filter.

And you? Are you doing Inktober, or focusing on Zingtober? Or maybe following a different prompt list?

Let me know in the comments—I’d love to check out your art and see how you interpret the prompts!
