Hello everyone! I’m Lorentm, a digital artist who loves exploring new interpretations of characters through color, expression, and storytelling. Welcome once again to my little creative corner! Today, I’m excited to bring you a new piece from my digital canvas — a fan art of Grass Raccoon, one of the characters from the Holozing universe, reimagined in a humanized anime style.

From the moment I saw Grass Raccoon, I imagined him as an agile forest explorer — a curious soul, always wandering among the trees, discovering forgotten paths and listening to the whispers of the leaves. That thought filled me with inspiration. I felt like I wasn’t just drawing a character, but giving life to someone with a story to tell. Working on this piece gave me the opportunity to create not just an illustration, but a character design filled with personality, backstory, and heart.

Soy Lorentm, una artista digital que ama explorar nuevas formas de reinterpretar personajes a través del color, la expresión y la narrativa. ¡Bienvenidas y bienvenidos una vez más a mi pequeño rincón creativo! Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una nueva obra salida directamente de mi lienzo digital: un fan art de Grass Raccoon, uno de los personajes del universo de Holozing, reimaginado al estilo anime en versión humanizada.

Desde el primer momento en que vi a Grass Raccoon, lo imaginé como un ágil explorador del bosque — un alma curiosa, siempre vagando entre los árboles, descubriendo senderos olvidados y escuchando los susurros de las hojas. Esa idea me llenó de inspiración. Sentí que no solo estaba dibujando un personaje, sino dándole vida a alguien con una historia por contar. Trabajar en esta pieza me permitió crear no solo una ilustración, sino un diseño cargado de personalidad, trasfondo y alma.

In this fan art, Grass Raccoon takes on the role of a young forest explorer. His expression is confident but friendly — someone who respects nature and learns from it. I wanted his eyes to be large and golden, like lanterns in the dark woods, full of curiosity and a sense of wonder. The black mask around his eyes pays tribute to the raccoon-like origin of the character, while enhancing the anime aesthetic.

He wears an outfit designed for mobility: a green tunic with natural, leaf-inspired patterns, and a belt to hold small explorer tools. His gloves and boots are practical, perfect for climbing trees or sneaking quietly through the undergrowth. His spear is not a weapon of war, but a tool — for clearing brush or marking trails. The leafy tail and tufts of hair shaped like sprouting leaves were key touches for me; they symbolize that he is, in essence, a child of the forest. Even the scarf adds a bit of traveler charm, fluttering with each adventurous step.

En este fan art, Grass Raccoon asume el papel de un joven explorador del bosque. Su expresión es segura pero amigable — alguien que respeta la naturaleza y aprende de ella. Quise que sus ojos fueran grandes y dorados, como linternas en medio del bosque, llenos de curiosidad y asombro. La máscara negra que rodea sus ojos rinde homenaje a su origen de mapache, a la vez que refuerza el estilo anime que busqué para esta obra.

Viste un atuendo pensado para la movilidad: una túnica verde con patrones inspirados en hojas y un cinturón que podría sostener pequeñas herramientas de explorador. Sus guantes y botas son prácticos, ideales para trepar árboles o caminar sigilosamente entre la maleza. Su lanza no es un arma de guerra, sino una herramienta — para apartar ramas o marcar rutas. La cola en forma de hoja y los mechones de cabello que parecen brotes verdes fueron detalles esenciales para mí; simbolizan que él es, en esencia, un hijo del bosque. Incluso la bufanda añade un toque de viajero encantador, que ondea con cada paso aventurero.

Process / Proceso

To bring this idea to life, I began with a freehand sketch where I let my imagination flow. I sketched the character standing firmly in a forest setting, holding his spear with pride. The sketch was dynamic yet grounded — I wanted him to feel like a real young guardian on a peaceful mission. The proportions were deliberately chibi-style, to make him appear more youthful and approachable.

Once I had the pose I liked, I moved on to the line art. This stage required patience and precision. I refined each curve and contour, giving special attention to his hair, ears, and clothing folds. I emphasized the pointed shapes of the leaves and the fluid lines of the scarf to add a sense of motion. With every line, I tried to show the explorer spirit I had imagined from the start.

With the linework complete, I dove into coloring. I chose a palette of lush greens, warm earth tones, and subtle gold accents. The eyes were especially important to me — I painted them with golden amber shades and layered them with light to make them glow. The clothing features various hues of green to reflect the variety found in the forest, and the wooden shaft of the spear adds an organic touch.

The next step was adding shadows. I focused on the underlayers of his clothing, under the arms, behind the ears, and under the scarf. The shadows helped me give weight and shape to the illustration. I kept them soft and warm, avoiding harsh contrasts to maintain the friendly tone of the piece.

After the shadows came the highlights. These brought the entire drawing to life. I added light glints on his eyes, soft highlights on his hair and leaves, and subtle shines on the edges of his outfit. These touches gave the feeling that he's standing in a softly lit forest, surrounded by gentle magic.

Finally, I created the background. The environment had to match his personality — mysterious but welcoming. I painted towering trees, glowing blue light between trunks, and soft vegetation at his feet. I kept the colors slightly muted to let the character pop while still giving depth to the scene. The forest is both his home and his adventure ground, and I wanted the viewer to feel that.

Para dar vida a esta idea, comencé con un boceto hecho a mano alzada, donde dejé que la imaginación fluyera. Dibujé al personaje de pie, firme en un entorno boscoso, sosteniendo su lanza con orgullo. El boceto era dinámico pero estable — quería que se sintiera como un joven guardián en una misión tranquila. Las proporciones fueron intencionalmente estilo chibi, para hacerlo ver más juvenil y cercano.

Una vez que encontré la pose ideal, pasé al delineado. Esta etapa requirió paciencia y precisión. Refiné cada curva y contorno, prestando especial atención al cabello, las orejas y los pliegues de la ropa. Destaqué las formas puntiagudas de las hojas y las líneas fluidas de la bufanda para añadir movimiento. Con cada línea, intenté transmitir el espíritu de explorador que imaginé desde el principio.

Con el trazo terminado, me sumergí en el color. Elegí una paleta de verdes frondosos, tonos tierra cálidos y acentos dorados sutiles. Los ojos fueron especialmente importantes para mí — los pinté con tonalidades ámbar dorado y los llené de luz para que brillaran. La ropa muestra distintas gamas de verde, como las que encontramos en la naturaleza, y el asta de la lanza aporta un toque orgánico.

El siguiente paso fue agregar sombras. Me concentré en las capas internas de la ropa, debajo de los brazos, detrás de las orejas y bajo la bufanda. Las sombras me ayudaron a darle peso y volumen a la ilustración. Las mantuve suaves y cálidas, evitando contrastes duros para conservar el tono amable de la obra.

Después de las sombras, llegaron los brillos. Estos detalles dieron vida a todo el dibujo. Añadí reflejos de luz en los ojos, destellos suaves en el cabello y las hojas, y brillos sutiles en los bordes del traje. Estos toques dieron la sensación de que se encuentra en un bosque suavemente iluminado, rodeado de una magia serena.

Finalmente, creé el fondo. El entorno debía coincidir con su personalidad — misterioso pero acogedor. Pinté árboles imponentes, luces azuladas entre los troncos y vegetación suave a sus pies. Mantuve los colores un poco apagados para que el personaje destacara, pero sin perder profundidad. El bosque es su hogar y su terreno de aventuras, y quería que el espectador lo sintiera así.

Creating this piece was a truly fulfilling experience. Bringing Grass Raccoon to life as a forest explorer allowed me to merge design, fantasy, and emotion into one drawing. Every leaf, every line, every glow was made with care and imagination. It fills me with joy to share this character with you all.
