When I started this piece, I knew I wanted to do something that felt both ancient and majestic. Hello everyone, I’m Lorentm, a digital artist, and I’m so happy to welcome you once again to my art blog. Today, I’m sharing a very special work based on one of the characters from @holozing. As part of this year’s Zingtober challenge, hosted by @holozing, I created my interpretation of the prompt “Ornate.”
Cuando comencé esta obra, sabía que quería hacer algo que se sintiera antiguo y majestuoso. Hola a todos, soy Lorentm, una artista digital, y me alegra mucho darles la bienvenida una vez más a mi blog de arte. Hoy quiero compartir una pieza muy especial inspirada en uno de los personajes de @holozing. Como parte del reto Zingtober de este año, organizado por @holozing, realicé mi interpretación de la palabra clave “Ornate”.
For this prompt, I decided to portray Emberox, a powerful and mysterious creature whose presence always evokes awe. I imagined Emberox not as a living being this time, but as a sacred symbol immortalized in stained glass, a guardian watching over a gothic cathedral.
Para este día decidí representar a Emberox, una criatura poderosa y misteriosa cuya sola presencia impone respeto. Esta vez no lo imaginé como un ser vivo, sino como un símbolo sagrado inmortalizado en un vitral, un guardián que observa silenciosamente desde una catedral gótica.
Working on this piece felt like stepping into an ancient legend. Every line and every glow of light made me feel connected to something timeless—something that transcends the material world.
Trabajar en esta pieza fue como adentrarme en una leyenda antigua. Cada línea y cada destello de luz me hicieron sentir conectada con algo eterno, algo que trasciende el mundo material.

Emberox, as seen through this stained glass window, takes the form of a dragon — elegant yet fierce. The sharp lines of its wings and the curve of its claws were designed to mimic the style of medieval cathedral glass, filled with geometry and divine symmetry. I wanted its gaze to hold light, as if the creature were alive, glowing from within the glass itself.
Emberox, tal como se muestra a través de este vitral, adopta la forma de un dragón elegante pero feroz. Las líneas angulosas de sus alas y la curvatura de sus garras fueron diseñadas para imitar el estilo de los vitrales medievales, llenos de geometría y simetría divina. Quise que su mirada tuviera luz, como si la criatura estuviera viva, resplandeciendo desde dentro del propio cristal.
The entire scene represents a window in a gothic cathedral — tall, solemn, and filled with mystery. The monochromatic tones give the impression of moonlight filtering through the glass, turning Emberox into both a symbol of strength and serenity.
La escena completa representa una ventana de una catedral gótica: alta, solemne y llena de misterio. Los tonos monocromáticos dan la impresión de la luz de la luna filtrándose a través del cristal, transformando a Emberox en un símbolo de fuerza y serenidad.
Process / Proceso
The journey began with a rough sketch, where I defined Emberox’s pose and the intricate frame of the cathedral window. At this stage, I focused on composition—ensuring that every piece of glass would flow harmoniously within the structure.
El proceso comenzó con un boceto inicial, donde definí la pose de Emberox y la forma intrincada del marco de la ventana de la catedral. En esta etapa me concentré en la composición, asegurándome de que cada fragmento del vitral fluyera en armonía con la estructura.
Once satisfied with the sketch, I moved on to the linework. This was one of the most crucial steps, as the drawing needed precision to emulate the leading of stained glass. Each segment was outlined carefully, creating that distinct gothic feel.
Una vez conforme con el boceto, pasé al delineado. Este fue uno de los pasos más importantes, ya que el dibujo debía tener precisión para emular las uniones del vidrio. Cada segmento fue delineado con cuidado, logrando ese aire gótico tan característico.
The coloring stage was a delicate process. Although the artwork is monochromatic, I played with subtle gradients of gray to simulate the way light passes through glass. This gave depth and volume to each panel.
La etapa de color fue un proceso delicado. Aunque la obra es monocromática, trabajé con sutiles degradados de grises para simular cómo la luz atraviesa el cristal. Esto aportó profundidad y volumen a cada sección.
Next came the shadows, which helped define the dragon’s body and the architectural frame. I used darker tones to emphasize the sense of stone and ancient glass, blending the creature seamlessly with the cathedral’s structure.
Luego apliqué las sombras, que ayudaron a definir el cuerpo del dragón y el marco arquitectónico. Utilicé tonos más oscuros para acentuar la sensación de piedra y vidrio antiguo, integrando la criatura con la estructura de la catedral.
Adding the highlights was one of my favorite parts — small sparkles of light that made the whole piece feel alive. They represent stars, reflections, and perhaps even the breath of Emberox trapped within the glass.
Añadir los brillos fue una de mis partes favoritas: pequeños destellos de luz que dieron vida a toda la pieza. Representan estrellas, reflejos, y tal vez incluso el aliento de Emberox atrapado dentro del vitral.
Finally, I created the background. The soft luminosity behind the dragon symbolizes the night sky, reinforcing the mystical atmosphere and completing the cathedral-like setting.
Finalmente, realicé el fondo. La suave luminosidad detrás del dragón simboliza el cielo nocturno, reforzando la atmósfera mística y completando el entorno de la catedral.

This artwork was both a challenge and a delight. It allowed me to explore texture and light in a new way while paying tribute to one of my favorite Holozing creatures. Creating a piece that feels both ancient and digital at once was an enriching experience.
Esta obra fue tanto un desafío como un deleite. Me permitió explorar la textura y la luz de una manera nueva, mientras rendía homenaje a una de mis criaturas favoritas de Holozing. Crear una pieza que se sintiera a la vez antigua y digital fue una experiencia enriquecedora.

The tools I used for the drawing were the following:
- Android tablet.
- Capacitive pen (Stylus).
- Ibis Paint X program.
- Brushes: Pencil, Airbrush, Fuzzy, Marker.
