Hello everyone, I’m Lorentm, a digital artist, and I’m so happy to welcome you all to my little corner of art. Today I want to share with you one of my latest creations inspired by one of the charming characters from @holozing. This work was made as part of the Zingtober challenge, organized by holozing, and for today’s prompt, the keyword was “Weave.”
The character I chose to bring to life is Woolio, a fluffy and adorable creature that immediately captured my attention. While working on her, I felt a special sense of joy because her design radiates warmth and softness. It almost felt like every stroke of the pen carried the tenderness that this character embodies.
Woolio is not just another character; she’s like a little symbol of coziness and creativity. Her fluffy wool reminded me of yarn and knitting, which fit perfectly with the prompt “Weave.” That connection gave me the spark of inspiration to design her in a way that reflects both her cuteness and the essence of crafting something with care.
Finally, before diving into the details, I want to thank @acidyo and @holozing for always supporting my works and giving us a space to share and grow together. I’m truly grateful to be part of this creative community.
Hola a todos, soy Lorentm, una artista digital, y me alegra mucho darles la bienvenida a este pequeño rincón de arte. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una de mis últimas creaciones inspirada en uno de los encantadores personajes de @holozing. Esta obra fue realizada como parte del reto Zingtober, organizado por holozing, y para la palabra clave de hoy, “Weave”, encontré una inspiración muy especial.
El personaje que decidí dar vida es Woolio, una criatura esponjosa y adorable que me cautivó desde el primer momento. Mientras trabajaba en ella, sentí una alegría especial, porque su diseño transmite calidez y ternura. Era como si cada trazo llevara consigo la suavidad que este personaje encarna.
Woolio no es solo un personaje más, para mí representa un pequeño símbolo de creatividad y de confort. Su lana esponjosa me recordó al hilo y al tejido, algo que encajaba perfectamente con la palabra “Weave”. Esa conexión fue la chispa que me impulsó a diseñarla de manera que reflejara tanto su dulzura como la esencia de crear con cariño.
Finalmente, antes de adentrarme en los detalles, quiero agradecer a @acidyo y @holozing por apoyar continuamente mis obras y brindarnos un espacio donde compartir y crecer juntas. Estoy muy agradecida de ser parte de esta comunidad creativa.
Woolio is a small sheep-like character with fluffy wool that looks almost like a cloud. Her rounded face with bright sparkling eyes makes her instantly lovable. She carries a playful yet calm expression, like she’s fully absorbed in her little world of creativity.
In this drawing, I decided to work entirely in grayscale. Using only shades of gray instead of color allowed me to play with depth and contrast in a unique way. Woolio is shown knitting with dedication, her needles shaping the yarn into a woven piece. The grayscale palette emphasizes the textures of her wool, the softness of the yarn, and the delicate details of the scene. She sits on a patterned blanket in a serene outdoor setting, surrounded by light and shadow that highlight the peaceful atmosphere of the piece.
Woolio es un pequeño personaje parecido a una ovejita, con lana esponjosa que parece una nube. Su rostro redondeado con ojos brillantes la hace irresistible y adorable. Tiene una expresión juguetona pero tranquila, como si estuviera completamente inmersa en su pequeño mundo creativo.
En este dibujo decidí trabajar completamente en escala de grises. Usar solo tonos de gris en lugar de color me permitió jugar con la profundidad y el contraste de una forma especial. Woolio aparece tejiendo con dedicación, sus agujas transformando el hilo en una pieza tejida. La paleta en grises resalta las texturas de su lana, la suavidad del hilo y los pequeños detalles de la escena. Ella está sentada sobre una manta con patrones, en un entorno sereno al aire libre, rodeada de luces y sombras que aportan calma y equilibrio a la obra.
Process / Proceso
I started with a sketch to establish Woolio’s round and fluffy form. This step was about finding her balance on the blanket, her pose with the knitting needles, and her gentle expression. Even in rough lines, her essence was already coming through.
Next came the lineart, where I gave precision and personality to the piece. The curls of her wool, the shine in her eyes, and the knitted yarn strands all became clearer through defined black lines.
The grayscale shading was my main focus. Instead of adding colors, I carefully worked with gradients of gray to build volume. The darker tones gave weight and depth, while the lighter ones highlighted her fluffiness and the texture of the woven fabric.
Highlights made the drawing come alive. Subtle touches of white in her eyes and slight reflections on the yarn created a balance that gave Woolio vitality within a monochromatic palette.
Finally, I worked on the background, using gray tones to suggest trees, grass, and light. The patterned blanket beneath Woolio added a homely touch and completed the serene scene, harmonizing the entire composition.
Empecé con un boceto para establecer la forma redonda y esponjosa de Woolio. Este paso me permitió ubicar su postura sobre la manta, su gesto con las agujas de tejer y su expresión tranquila. Incluso con líneas simples, ya se percibía su esencia.
Luego pasé al delineado, donde le di precisión y personalidad a la obra. Los rizos de su lana, el brillo en sus ojos y las hebras del tejido cobraron más fuerza gracias a líneas negras definidas.
El trabajo en escala de grises fue el foco principal. En lugar de añadir colores, jugué con diferentes gamas de grises para construir volumen. Los tonos oscuros aportaron peso y profundidad, mientras que los más claros resaltaron la suavidad de su lana y la textura de la prenda tejida.
Los brillos hicieron que el dibujo cobrara vida. Toques sutiles de blanco en sus ojos y pequeños reflejos en el hilo lograron un equilibrio que dio a Woolio vitalidad dentro de una paleta monocromática.
Finalmente, trabajé el fondo, usando grises para sugerir árboles, césped y luz. La manta con patrones bajo Woolio añadió un detalle hogareño y completó la escena serena, armonizando toda la composición.

Creating this grayscale piece for Zingtober was both a challenge and a joy. Limiting myself to shades of gray pushed me to pay attention to depth, balance, and texture in a way that color sometimes distracts from. Woolio turned out to be the perfect subject to explore these nuances, and I’m glad I could bring her to life in this monochromatic world.
I want to thank @acidyo and @holozing for their continuous support, which motivates me to keep creating and sharing. I hope this artwork conveys warmth and calm to you, and I’d love to hear your impressions and feedback.
Crear esta obra en escala de grises para Zingtober fue tanto un reto como una alegría. Limitarme a los tonos de gris me impulsó a enfocarme en la profundidad, el equilibrio y la textura de una manera en que el color a veces distrae. Woolio resultó ser el personaje perfecto para explorar estos matices, y me alegra haber podido darle vida en este mundo monocromático.

The tools I used for the drawing were the following:
- Android tablet.
- Capacitive pen (Stylus).
- Ibis Paint X program.
- Brushes: Pencil, Airbrush, Fuzzy, Marker.
