Today I’m sharing a brand-new illustration inspired by one of the characters from the wonderful @holozing universe. Being part of this creative community always fills me with excitement and inspiration.
This artwork is my entry for day 25 of Zingtober, the inktober challenge hosted by holozing, and the keyword for today is Inferno — a word that instantly awakened imagery of hypnotic flames, heat-driven power, and dangerous charisma.
For this piece, I chose to interpret the male ocean healer, but with a fiery twist — stepping beyond his usual calm aquatic aura and imagining him in a state of overwhelming elemental transformation.
His presence feels intimidating yet elegant, exuding that theatrical confidence that only a true ruler of chaos could possess — heavily inspired by Hades from Disney’s Hercules, whose energy is chaotic, witty and dangerously fascinating.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una nueva ilustración inspirada en uno de los personajes del maravilloso universo de @holozing. Ser parte de esta comunidad creativa siempre me llena de emoción e inspiración.
Esta obra forma parte del día 25 de Zingtober, el inktober organizado por holozing, y la palabra clave de hoy es Inferno, una palabra que de inmediato despierta imágenes de fuego hipnótico, poder ardiente y carismas peligrosas.
Para este dibujo decidí reinterpretar al male ocean healer, pero con un giro ardiente, imaginándolo fuera de su habitual calma oceánica y envuelto en una transformación elemental poderosa.
Su presencia se siente intimidante pero elegante, con esa confianza teatral que solo un verdadero soberano del caos puede poseer, muy inspirada en Hades de la película Hércules de Disney, cuyo carisma es caótico, ingenioso y peligrosamente fascinante.
The character stands engulfed in blazing flames, his hair itself transformed into living fire that rises wildly above him. His expression is sharp and mischievous, with an unnerving confidence behind that wide grin — the kind of smile that says he knows exactly how much power he holds. He wears a toga-style garment adorned with triangular patterns and a shell clasp on his shoulder, hinting at his oceanic origins despite the infernal setting. His hand is raised, channeling energy as swirling embers dance at his fingertips, and around him the flames bend like they obey his will. The entire illustration is monochromatic, allowing the lighting, contrast and heat intensity to speak louder than color — everything feels alive, volatile and theatrical.
El personaje se encuentra envuelto en llamas ardientes, con el cabello convertido en fuego viviente que se eleva salvaje sobre su cabeza. Su expresión es aguda y traviesa, con una confianza inquietante detrás de esa amplia sonrisa — el tipo de sonrisa que deja claro que sabe perfectamente el poder que posee. Lleva una túnica de estilo clásico adornada con patrones triangulares y un broche en forma de concha sobre el hombro, insinuando su origen oceánico a pesar del entorno infernal. Su mano se alza, canalizando energía mientras las brasas giran entre sus dedos, y a su alrededor las llamas parecen obedecerle. Toda la ilustración es monocromática, permitiendo que la iluminación, el contraste y la intensidad del calor hablen más fuerte que el color — todo se siente vivo, volátil y teatral.
Process / Proceso
I began with a loose sketch to capture the pose, the direction of the flames, and especially the attitude — the smirk was essential to convey the character’s personality. I focused on composition, making sure his energy felt dominant and central.
Inicié con un boceto suelto para establecer la pose, la dirección de las llamas y, sobre todo, la actitud — la sonrisa era fundamental para transmitir la personalidad del personaje. Me concentré en la composición, asegurándome de que su energía se sintiera dominante y central.
Then I moved to the lineart, defining sharp features, expressive hands, and the flow of the toga. I used dynamic, confident lines to give movement and intent to every part of his silhouette.
Luego pasé al delineado, definiendo rasgos marcados, manos expresivas y el movimiento de la toga. Utilicé líneas dinámicas y seguras para dar intención y fluidez a cada parte de su silueta.
Once the structure was solid, I applied the base tones in grayscale, keeping the values clean and readable. Monochromatic work demands clarity from the very first layer.
Con la estructura definida, apliqué los tonos base en escala de grises, manteniendo los valores claros y legibles. El arte monocromático exige claridad desde la primera capa.
Next came the shadows — this is where everything began to feel alive. I emphasized the fire-generated contrast, carving depth into his expression and dramatic lighting across his face and clothing.
A continuación trabajé las sombras — aquí fue donde todo empezó a cobrar vida. Enfatizé el contraste generado por el fuego, definiendo profundidad en su expresión e iluminación dramática en su rostro y vestimenta.
I then added strategic highlights, especially around his flaming hair and fingers, making the light feel like it was truly emanating from him rather than merely illuminating him.
Después añadí brillos estratégicos, especialmente en el cabello en llamas y los dedos, haciendo que la luz pareciera emanar de él en lugar de solo iluminarlo.
Finally, I created the background — a roaring inferno twisting organically behind him. The motion and glow of the flames were the final piece to solidify the infernal mood.
Finalmente trabajé el fondo — un infierno en llamas retorciéndose de manera orgánica detrás de él. El movimiento y resplandor de las llamas fue lo que terminó de cimentar la atmósfera infernal.

Creating this piece was exhilarating — I love when a character allows me to push personality and lighting to dramatic extremes. Working monochromatically gave me the freedom to tell the story through energy and contrast alone. Huge thanks to @acidyo and @holozing for continuously supporting my creations — this community truly fuels my artistic evolution.
Crear esta obra fue emocionante — me encanta cuando un personaje me permite llevar la personalidad y la iluminación a extremos dramáticos. Trabajar en monocromático me dio la libertad de contar la historia únicamente a través de la energía y el contraste. The tools I used for the drawing were the following:
- Android tablet.
- Capacitive pen (Stylus).
- Ibis Paint X program.
- Brushes: Pencil, Airbrush, Fuzzy, Marker.
