Hello everyone! I’m Lorentm, a digital artist passionate about fantasy and vibrant storytelling through art. Today I’m thrilled to welcome you all to my blog and to share with you one of my latest digital pieces inspired by a character from @holozing. This artwork is part of the Zingtober challenge, an incredible artistic journey full of creativity and community spirit. For day 28, the prompt was “Skeletal,” and I immediately knew I wanted to create something special that would blend both cultural symbolism and my love for character art.
The character I chose to portray is the Male Ocean Healer, a mysterious and elegant figure who resonates deeply with themes of life, death, and renewal. While working on this piece, I felt both joy and nostalgia, as it reminded me of the deep meaning behind Día de los Muertos—a celebration that honors life through memory and color, even in its monochrome form here.
In this drawing, I wanted to merge the essence of the ocean healer with the traditional imagery of a skeletal musician, evoking a feeling of festivity and remembrance. His calm expression and intricate guitar details reflect the harmony between light and shadow, sound and silence, memory and eternity.

¡Hola a todos! Soy Lorentm, una artista digital apasionada por la fantasía y las historias vibrantes contadas a través del arte. Hoy estoy muy emocionada de darles la bienvenida a mi blog y compartir con ustedes una de mis más recientes obras digitales inspirada en un personaje de @holozing. Esta pieza forma parte del reto Zingtober, un recorrido artístico lleno de creatividad y espíritu comunitario. Para el día 28, la palabra clave fue “Skeletal”, y supe de inmediato que quería crear algo especial que uniera el simbolismo cultural con mi amor por el arte de personajes.
El personaje que decidí representar es el Male Ocean Healer, una figura misteriosa y elegante que refleja temas de vida, muerte y renovación. Mientras trabajaba en esta obra, sentí tanto alegría como nostalgia, pues me recordó el profundo significado del Día de los Muertos, una celebración que honra la vida a través del recuerdo y el color, incluso en su versión monocromática.
En este dibujo quise fusionar la esencia del sanador del océano con la imagen tradicional de un músico esquelético, evocando un sentimiento de festividad y memoria. Su expresión serena y los detalles intrincados de su guitarra reflejan la armonía entre la luz y la sombra, el sonido y el silencio, la memoria y la eternidad.
Quiero enviar un cálido saludo a toda la comunidad de @holozing. Estoy muy emocionada de compartir esta obra con ustedes y celebrar juntas el arte durante esta temporada creativa.
The Male Ocean Healer in my drawing takes on a skeletal form, his bones outlined with smooth precision and subtle shading to give him both grace and strength. His face, delicately decorated with motifs reminiscent of Día de los Muertos, conveys both peace and energy. The hairstyle adds a lively touch, flowing upward with style and motion, giving him a sense of personality even beyond the skeletal form.
He wears a traditional mariachi-style jacket, detailed with bright edges and carefully marked seams to evoke the attire of a festive musician. In his hands, he holds a beautifully adorned guitar, decorated with floral patterns that symbolize life flourishing even after death. The background captures a warm night scene with papel picado, glowing lights, and desert cacti, setting a tranquil yet celebratory atmosphere—a moment frozen between life’s music and the silence of eternity.
El Male Ocean Healer de mi dibujo adopta una forma esquelética, con huesos delineados con precisión y sombreado sutil que le otorgan elegancia y fuerza. Su rostro, decorado con delicados motivos inspirados en el Día de los Muertos, transmite una sensación de paz y energía. El peinado le da un toque vivaz, elevándose con estilo y movimiento, lo que aporta personalidad incluso más allá de su forma ósea.
Viste una chaqueta al estilo mariachi, con bordes luminosos y costuras cuidadosamente marcadas para evocar la vestimenta de un músico festivo. En sus manos sostiene una guitarra bellamente adornada con patrones florales que simbolizan la vida floreciendo incluso después de la muerte. El fondo retrata una cálida escena nocturna con papel picado, luces brillantes y cactus del desierto, creando una atmósfera serena pero llena de celebración, un instante suspendido entre la música de la vida y el silencio de la eternidad.
Process / Proceso
The first step was the sketch, where I focused on capturing the anatomy and pose of the character. I wanted him to appear relaxed yet expressive, with his guitar held naturally as if caught mid-song. This stage was all about finding balance in composition and emotion.
Next came the line art, which I approached with patience and precision. Clean, confident strokes gave structure to the sketch and defined the rhythm of the piece. Each curve of the bones and folds of the clothing was carefully traced to maintain fluidity and clarity.
When moving on to coloring, I opted for a monochromatic palette to challenge myself artistically. I wanted to evoke the feeling of an old photograph that tells a story without the need for color, relying instead on tone, contrast, and light.
The shading phase added depth and dimension. By carefully placing shadows, I brought volume to the skeletal form and gave the jacket a sense of texture. It’s where the character truly began to feel alive—or, in this case, spiritually present.
Highlights came next, adding subtle gleams to the guitar, buttons, and eyes. This step brought a magical spark, as if light itself were part of the melody.
Finally, I created the background—an important part that connects the character to his world. The soft glow of the lights, the gentle gradients, and the festive banners all contributed to a dreamy, celebratory scene that complements the healer’s presence.
El primer paso fue el boceto, donde me concentré en capturar la anatomía y la pose del personaje. Quería que se viera relajado pero expresivo, sosteniendo la guitarra con naturalidad, como si lo hubieran sorprendido en medio de una canción. Esta etapa se trató de encontrar el equilibrio entre la composición y la emoción.
Luego pasé al delineado, un proceso que abordé con paciencia y precisión. Trazos limpios y seguros dieron estructura al boceto y marcaron el ritmo de la obra. Cada curva de los huesos y cada pliegue de la ropa fueron delineados con cuidado para mantener fluidez y claridad.
En la fase de color, opté por una paleta monocromática como un reto artístico. Quise evocar la sensación de una fotografía antigua que cuenta una historia sin necesidad de color, apoyándose únicamente en los tonos, el contraste y la luz.
La etapa de sombras agregó profundidad y dimensión. Al ubicar cuidadosamente las sombras, logré dar volumen a la forma esquelética y textura a la chaqueta. Fue en este momento cuando el personaje empezó a sentirse realmente vivo, o espiritualmente presente.
Luego llegaron los brillos, que añadieron destellos sutiles en la guitarra, los botones y los ojos. Este paso aportó una chispa mágica, como si la luz misma formara parte de la melodía.
Finalmente, creé el fondo, una parte esencial que conecta al personaje con su mundo. El suave resplandor de las luces, los degradados tenues y los banderines festivos construyeron una escena soñadora y alegre que complementa la presencia del sanador.

Creating this piece was an emotional and fulfilling experience. It allowed me to combine cultural symbolism, personal inspiration, and artistic challenge into one artwork. Through this skeletal musician, I felt I could celebrate both the beauty of impermanence and the joy of creation.
