Hello #Holozing and #Hive community! 👋.

After a few weeks away, I have finally returned with a new illustration. I've been away from home for several weeks because I decided to take a break, and the most complicated part of it all was separating from my desktop PC. Luckily, for this escape, I chose to take my Android tablet with me to keep drawing, but it has certainly been a challenge to adapt to working on this kind of device, because of how simplified the apps can be.

Finally, after so many attempts, I was able to complete an illustration. This time, I decided to work with the character Cinelara so as not to complicate the design too much; the real challenge was in the colouring phase and the final details, which I will talk more about later.

Después de unas semanas desaparecido, finalmente he regresado con una nueva ilustración. He estado fuera de casa durante varias semanas porque decidí tomarme un descanso, y lo más complicado de todo fue separarme de mi PC de escritorio. Por suerte, en este escape opte por llevarme mi tablet Android para seguir dibujando, pero sin duda ha sido todo un reto adaptarme a trabajar en este tipo de equipo, por lo simplificadas que llegan a ser las aplicaciones.

Finalmente después de tantos intentos, pude completar una ilustración. Está vez decidí trabajar con el personaje Cinelara para no complicarme mucho con el diseño, el verdadero reto estuvo en la fase del color y los detalles finales, de lo cual les hablaré más adelante.

Creative Process | Proceso Creativo📘✏️

✒️Sketch and Lineart :

For the sketch and lineart I used the Infinite Painter app. Here, I started sketching the main idea for the character, placing them on a leaf in the middle of nature. After defining the concept, I completed the line art of the character.

Para el boceto y lineart usé la app de Infinite Painter, aquí comencé a bocetar la idea principal del personaje. Situandolo en una hoja en medio de la naturaleza. Luego de definir el concepto, realice en lineart del personaje.

🎨Base Colors :

In the same app, I applied a fill layer to the entire character, then I took colour samples from the reference to fill in the character. This is where my biggest problem started: my tablet screen tends to oversaturate the tones too much, so the colour I see isn't truly faithful. Simply put, I was working a bit blindly at this point.

En la misma app apliqué una capa de relleno en todo el personaje, luego tomé las muestras de color de la referencia para rellenar al personaje. Aquí empezó mi mayor problema, la pantalla de mi tablet tiende a saturar demasiado los tonos, así que el color que veo no es realmente fiel. En pocas palabras, estuve trabajando un poco a ciegas en este punto.

🌄Application of Shadows and Environment :

After that, I started working on the shadows. Here, I decided to switch to the Clip Studio Paint app (Trial Version), mainly because of the brushes it offers. I opted to use one with low opacity to achieve a stroke that was between hard and soft for the shadows. Then, I moved on to work on the leaf and a second layer of shadows for the character, adding a bit more volume to the composition.

Después comencé a trabajar en las sombras, aquí decidí cambiarme a la app de Clip Studio Paint (Versión de Prueba), principalmente por los pinceles que ofrece. Opté por utilizar uno de baja opacidad para lograr un trazado entre duro a suave en las sombras. Luego pase a trabajar en la hoja y una segunda capa de sombras para el personaje, añadiéndole algo más de volumen a la composición.

✨Application of Lights, Background and Final Details :

To finish, I applied colour to the shadows so they would integrate better with the character. For the background, I applied a white colour and created a rectangle with a gradient of green tones, which I shaped into leaves using a textured brush.

Para finalizar aplique color a las sombras para que se integraran mejor con el personaje. Para el fondo apliqué un color blanco e hice un rectángulo con un degradado de tonos verdes, el cual le di forma de hojas con un pincel texturizado.

Finally, I added the finishing details, such as the highlights and reflections, and worked a bit more on the background, thus completing the illustration.

The truth is, this illustration took me longer than I thought it would. As I mentioned at the beginning, I’ve found it difficult to adapt to the Android apps, which is why, in the end, I had to resort to Clip Studio to be able to finish it. All the same, my goal isn't to commit solely to one program, so I will try again and see if I can complete a slightly simpler illustration in a different app.

Finalmente agregué los detalles finales como las luces y reflejos y trabajé un poco más en el fondo finalizando así la ilustración.

La verdad es que esta ilustración me tomó más tiempo del que creí. Como mencioné al inicio, se me ha complicado adaptarme a las apps de Android, por lo que al final tuve que recurrir a Clip Studio para poder terminarla. Igual, mi idea no es casarme con ningún programa, así que volveré a probar y ver si logro completar otra ilustración un poco más sencilla en otra app.
