Greetings, friends! I hope you are all doing well!
I decided to participate in Zingtober!
I had planned to make my entries with traditional materials, and I even bought markers and paper. However, at least in this entry, I wasn't able to achieve the details I wanted, so I'm not ruling out the idea of doing one in ink later on.
Well, day 5 corresponds to “DEER,” and there are only two characters in Holozing that fit this theme. A couple of months ago, I drew Shinaara, and I wanted to reference that drawing in this new one. Instead of just changing the pose, I thought it would be great to go a little further and add Naara and make a strong reference to a cartoon that traumatized many of us as children... Haha, I'm talking about Bambi with his mother.
I want to tell you that I really felt out of my comfort zone working in monochrome. I had to be very careful with the shades of gray so that the details would stand out. I don't know if it's just me or if I'm just very used to color. Either way, I really enjoyed the change.
There's another very subtle reference that I'll mention at the end of the post.

Me anime a participar en el Zingtober!.
Tenia pensado hacer mis entradas con materiales tradicionales, incluso compré marcadores y hojas. pero al menos en esta entrada no fuera podido lograr los detalles que quería hacer, no descarto la idea que más adelante haga una en tinta.
Bien, El dia 5 Corresponde a " DEER" y hay solo 2 personajes en holozing que se ajustan a esta temática, hace un par de meses atrás dibuje a shinaara y quería hacer referencia a ese dibujo en este nuevo en lugar de solo variar la pose pensé que seria genial ir un poco más halla agregar a naara y hacer una fuerte referencia a una caricatura que a muchos nos traumó de pequeños... jaja hablo de bambi junto a su madre.
Quiero comentarles que realmente me sentí fuera de mi zona de confort al trabajar en monocroma, debía tener mucho cuidado con los tonos de gris para que se notaran los detalles. No se si es idea mía o es que ya estoy muy acostumbrado al color. Sea como sea me gusto muchísimo variar.
Hay otra referencia muy sutil que dire al final del post.

The theme for day 5 is Deer, so we will use Naara and Shinaara.
Although it is not a reference, it is part of where the idea for this illustration came from. There is a part of the movie where Bambi goes out to eat with his mother, and I wanted to do something just as cute as that. Of course, this time without hunters, haha.
El tema del dia 5 es Deer, por lo que usaremos a Naara y Shinaara.
Aunque no es una referencia si es parte de donde salió la idea para esta ilustración, hay una parte de la película donde bambi sale a comer junto a su madre, quería hacer algo igual de tierno que esto. claro esta vez sin cazadores jaja.
Process/Proceso
Before I begin... I had many, many doubts about how to approach this. Should I use a style that emulates ink? Should I make a drawing that emulates pencil? The idea of doing it traditionally still seemed better to me, but it has certain disadvantages.
I had to make a color drawing and then convert it to grayscale. It would have been easier, but I feel like I would be defeating the purpose of Zingtober and, in a way, cheating.
Okay! Relax, breathe, Sephi, and trust the process...
Antes de empezar... Tenia muchas muchísimas dudas sobre como abordar esto, debía hacer un estilo que emulara la tinta? debia hacer un dibujo que emule el lapiz? la idea de hacerlo de forma tradicional aún me parecía mejor, pero tiene ciertas desventajas.
Debía hacer un dibujo a color y luego pasarlo a escalas de grises, " fuera sido más fácil, pero siento que estaría rompiendo el propósito del Zingtober y en cierta forma haciendo trampa".
Bien! Relajate respira Sephi y confía en el proceso...
Here is the brush I used. It's not the one I used for the other illustrations. I won't even try to say its name, which I can't read. We'll call it “the best brush for drawing lines so far.”
Aqui les dejo el pincel que use, no es el que usaba para las otras ilustraciones. Ni siquiera intentaré decir su nombre que no puedo leer, lo llamaremos "el mejor pincel para dibujar lineas hasta el momento"
Please note that I have included a very subtle detail that I will reveal at the end of the post. I wanted to create an image as if it had been taken with a camera that has a fisheye effect. To help me achieve this, I made the background slightly curved, and I also thought about adding objects to the sides of the drawing to further enhance the effect.
Atención en este punto integre un detalle muy sutil que revelare al final del post, quise hacer una imagen como si se fuera tomando con una cámara que tienen ese efecto de ojo de pescado. Para ayudarme de ello hice que el fondo se viera algo curvo, también pensé en ayudarme mas adelanta con objetos por los laterales del dibujo.
I created a kind of gradient in several layers. By mistake or happy accident, the brush was very hard, so I left it like that for the moment. My initial intention was to add details from the start, as it would only be a shade of color.
I added mountains in the background, following the rule that the further away some objects are, the lighter they tend to look, and the closer they are, the darker they look.
I don't want to be dramatic, but at this point, I really wanted to erase everything and start over :( .

En varias capas hice una especie de degradado, por error o accidente feliz la dureza del pincel era mucha y lo deje así de momento, mi intención inicial era darle detalles desde un inicio, pues solo sería un tono de color.
Agregue montañas en el fondo siguiendo la regla de que mientras mas lejos algunos objetos tienden a verse más claros y mientras más cerca más oscuros.
No es por hacer drama, pero aquí tenía muchas ganas de borrar todo y volver a empezar :( .

The two characters are on the same layer because they are almost the same shade, that is, gray.
I added some clouds and felt that the drawing was coming to life. I really liked how they turned out.
Los dos personajes estan en la misma capa pues son tonos casi iguales, o sea grises.
Aplique algunas nubes y sentí que el dibujo ya iba tomando vida. Realmente me gusto mucho como quedan.
Remember I mentioned that it was a happy accident with the background? Well, I used these to give the clouds more logic and follow the fisheye effect.
I think this idea also came partly from the fact that I've seen a lot of news lately about an asteroid called Atlas, I don't know... anyway, I'm getting off topic.
I used several brushes to add details to the ground. Although it took a while, I think the result is nice. I varied between three different shades, and in some parts, such as the background, I blurred them.
Recuerdan que les mencione que era un accidente feliz lo del fondo? Pues me ayude de estas para darle mas lógica a las nubes y seguir el efecto de ojo de pez.
Creo que también en parte esta idea nace de que eh visto últimamente muchas noticias de un asteroide Atlas no se que... en fin me sali del tema.
Me ayuda de varios pinceles para dar detalles en el suelo, aunque tarde un poco siento que el resultado es bonito, varíe entre 3 tonos diferentes, y en algunas partes como el fondo difumine.
Add a few leaves to the front with a leaf brush. We use darker shades to show that they are closer, always maintaining that circular shape.
Now we can add details to the characters, starting with Naara. I had planned to do this with textures, but that would break the style I already used in the background, so I tried not to overdo it with the textures.
Agregue unas cuantas hojas en el frente con un pincel de hojas, usamos tonos mas oscuros para que se entiendan que estan mas cerca, Siempre manteniendo esa forma circula.
ahora podemos darle detalles al los personajes empezamos por naara. tenia pensado hacerlo con texturas, pero aquí estaría rompiendo el estilo que ya hice en el fondo por lo que trate de no exagerar con las texturas.
We finished the little naara and added a variety of tones to Shinaara. I tried to follow a certain logic in the lighting for both characters.
It may not seem like it, but I also added texture to their little horns. You can enlarge the image. It took me a while, but it looks nice if you look at it up close.
Terminamos al pequeño naara y agregamos una variedad de tonos a Shinaara trato de seguir cierta lógica en la luz en los dos personajes.
Pareciera que no pero tambien le agregue textura a sus pequeños cuernos xD pueden agrandar la imagen, me llevo tiempo, pero se ve bonito si se ve de cerca. jeje
Everything was done in the same layer, but there are parts such as the horns and mane that required a different technique, such as bristle-style brushes and a dot brush for the horns.
I also used strong pencils for the highlights and darker areas.
Todo fue en la misma capa, pero hay partes como los cuernos y la melena que tenían una forma de trabajo diferente, como los pinceles estilo cerdas, y el pincel de puntos para los cuernos.
también los lápices fuertes para las luces y zonas de mayor oscuridad.
Finally, this was the result. There are details that I am overlooking, but there are so many that I wanted to mention the most relevant ones. As the birds in the background are painted with a special brush, it helps a lot for this type of background.
Finalmente, este fue el resultado hay detalles que estoy pasando por alto pero es que son muchos y quise mencionar los mas relevantes. como las aves del fondo son con un pincel especial ayuda mucho para este tipo de fondos.

Well, I promised to reveal a little hidden reference: the circular shape of the drawing emulates the view of a camera or the sight of a rifle. Making even more reference to the movie Bambi. “What a disturbing fact” haha, I really hope I did it right. I had a lot of doubts about the result and whether it fits 100% with the challenge. I checked the rules several times before starting and I think everything is correct.

Bien les prometí revelar una pequeña referencia oculta, la forma circula del dibujo émula la visión de una cámara o también el de la mira de un rifle. Haciendo aún más referencia a la peli de bambi. "Vaya dato perturbador" jaja, realmente espero haberlo hecho bien tenia muchísimas dudas sobre el resultado y si se ajusta al 100 con el reto revise las reglas varias veces antes de empezar y creo que todo está correcto.
