Creating black and white artwork is a challenge, as you determine the light and dark values of an object to convey the atmosphere of the environment within the artwork. My Zingtober post, using the DEER prompt, depicts a forest setting with large trees and a meadow where Shinaara gathers with deer grazing in a meadow in the middle of the forest...

The prompt for day 3 was Crown, and I didn’t want to draw the typical king’s crown that’s always depicted. So I called upon our usual protagonist—the beautiful Forest Healer, with her power to heal nature. This character always wears a headband made of roots and leaves, but I imagined a more elevated version, where her head is adorned with a lovely crown of flowers, leaves, and clovers—her signature plant. I created the entire drawing in Photoshop, starting from an initial sketch and laying down the structural foundation. Little by little, I added colors and details, always staying within a black-and-white color scheme...

I had no plans to participate fully in inktober this year, maybe I would've picked a few prompts that resonated with me and drew something in my sketchbook until I saw the zingtober announcement by the @holozing account. I read through the participation rules and was very happy with how considerate it is this year, so I decided I was going to enter with digital paintings so here's my first entry. Nara is a very beautiful deer with cute flowers on her cheeks, tail and horns. Here, she's standing majestically in the forest with bright lights hitting her back, I've never done...

Well, to begin with, my idea was for the main character of the work in this case (Naara) to be right in the center of my canvas. In this case, I drew the deer standing in the middle of the forest with her head down while eating some acorns from the ground. Once I finished my sketch, I moved straight on to the coloring process. For the body of the deer (Naara), I used slightly darker gray tones. I began by creating some volume with my airbrush brush, defining the deer's legs, the shape of its head, its muzzle, ears, and so on...

I made my drawing on white cardboard, I made Verdion little by little, first the sketch of his figure to know how I was going to put each of the accessories on him like the hat, the crow mask, the giant black tunic, also some gloves, small bags and a large staff with the Zing symbol. Since I used three types of black marker, I start with the thinnest marker to make simple lines that outline my entire drawing. So I start with the face, adding each detail I drew earlier, like the crow mask. One thing I do is make its eye visible through the mask's glass...

It’s day 5 of Zingtober and the prompt is “Deer”. So I decided to draw the beautiful Naara for this round. I sketched Naara and to make her look more beautiful I decided to draw some accessories. I started with drawing earrings and then drew a necklace. The two last photos are the final result but I couldn’t choose among them so I share both of them. I like the one without the sparkles better because the focus would be on the Naara but I somehow like the one with sparkles because it...

The theme for day 5 is Deer, so we will use Naara and Shinaara. Although it is not a reference, it is part of where the idea for this illustration came from. There is a part of the movie where Bambi goes out to eat with his mother, and I wanted to do something just as cute as that. Of course, this time without hunters, haha. Before I begin... I had many, many doubts about how to approach this. Should I use a style that emulates ink? Should I make a drawing that emulates pencil? The idea of doing it traditionally still seemed better to me, but it has certain disadvantages. I had to make a color drawing and then convert it to grayscale. It would have been easier, but I feel like I would be...

I sketch the structure, outline and shape of each creature or healer. To execute it, for the most part, I start by making some geometrical figures, and from there, I give body and shape to each creation. I continued applying various shades of brown to give my drawing depth and volume. I also highlighted the edges with a black pencil and a pen...

I've drawn Shinaara in human form a couple of times, but it's the first time I'm drawing him as the original form - a deer. It's somewhat odd for me to draw animals since I'm so used to drawing humanoid characters, even if it's a shot of them having weird magic or even limbs, but I really had a lot of fun going back to the roots of drawing a character and drawing them in their original form this time, in which case it was a deer - the theme for today's Zingtober haha...

I started the piece with a rough sketch to define Naara’s pose and the general composition. I wanted to ensure her stance conveyed gentleness and wonder, with her gaze naturally leading toward the moon. At this stage, I played with shapes and proportions until I captured that delicate and emotional look I was aiming for. Once I had the sketch ready, I moved on to the line art. This part required precision and patience, especially with her antlers and the floral details. Clean, flowing lines helped give Naara’s form a sense of softness and movement, setting the stage for the rest of the illustration...
