Healing my relationship with money:
It's not numbers, it's life energy.
Not long ago, I told you here how getting out of those “concrete boxes” and returning to nature was my cure for anxiety. I told you how, after spending 53 years among buildings and now 16 here in rural Ontario, I felt like my lungs and my head were finally breathing properly.
But, to be honest, there's another “box” that's really hard to get out of, even if you live in the quietest forest: the box of financial worries.
Today I want to bring up a topic that sometimes, in growth communities like Holos&Lotus, we find difficult to discuss, as if money were at odds with spirituality. At Hive, we spend our time looking at charts, analyzing cryptos, and talking about trading, but we almost never talk about the emotion behind that little red or green candle. What happens when the market crashes (like right now) and Christmas is breathing down your neck?

I want to invite you to change your perspective: stop looking at finances from a place of fear and start looking at them from a place of energy.
That heavy suitcase we carry from Venezuela
Living in Venezuela for more than half a century is no small feat; it leaves its mark. Beyond missing our homeland, many of us carry what I call “survival trauma”. For years, my relationship with money was pure fear: fear of not having enough, fear of money slipping through my fingers, fear of not being able to afford the basics.
That state of constant alertness blocks your root chakra, the one that gives you security. And here's something curious: even though I now live in Canada, in a very peaceful place, I sometimes find myself with the same knot in my stomach when I watch the news or when our rewards on Hive drop a little. That's when I realize that poverty or wealth are not just numbers in the bank, they are states of consciousness.
I remember very well what Deepak Chopra says in The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. He explains that material abundance is only a small part of the abundance of the universe; that true wealth comes from consciousness and creativity. Understanding this was key to stopping seeing money as an enemy that was slipping away from me and starting to see it for what it is: energy that comes and goes.
“Material abundance is only one representation of the abundance of the universe; the true source of wealth is consciousness, the ability to create.” — Deepak Chopra.
Lessons I learned from the forest (and Wall Street doesn't know)
Being here in Ontario, seeing how the forest works, I understood more about economics than I did from reading the news. Nature does not hoard out of fear. An apple tree does not save its apples “just in case” the sun does not shine next year. The tree trusts. It releases its fruit and knows that the earth will nourish it again.

It's the same with money. It's flow. There's a Japanese author, Ken Honda, who talks about “Happy Money.” He says something that blew my mind: “Money is energy. It can be happy or unhappy depending on how you receive it and how you let it go... Say Arigato (thank you) to your money when it comes in, and Arigato when it goes out.”
How often do we pay for a service with anger? Or buy Christmas gifts with guilt? By doing so, we are polluting that energy. I have learned, little by little, to pay my electricity bill with gratitude that I have heating so I don't freeze in this Canadian winter, instead of complaining about how expensive everything is. That little change in mindset, from paying with pain to paying with gratitude, changes everything.
The “Crypto Winter” and the Christmas Test
I am writing this right now, with Christmas upon us, that time of year that has been sold to us as a spending spree. And to top it all off, for those of us who live on Hive, we see the market going down. Just yesterday, I was talking to my friend @sacra97 and she told me how she felt her voting power was flying away these weeks; and of course, that shows in her wallet.
It's easy to panic. It's easy for that old ghost of scarcity to reappear. But that's when we need to apply the concept of personal growth and observe ourselves.
Instead of stressing about the price of currency, I choose to focus on the value of people, in communities like this one. Instead of worrying about not putting expensive gifts under the tree, I remember my Christmases in Venezuela. What I miss most today are not the toys, but the hallacas with my family, the gaita, the bochinche.

Here in Canada, Christmas is super commercial, but in my home, I try to rescue what is real. True financial well-being is not having millions to splurge, it is having the peace of mind of knowing that you have enough and that you deserve to be well, whether the market is up or down.
A little exercise in self-worth
To conclude, here's something I do when I feel that stress about money is disconnecting me from myself. It's inspired by Louise Hay:
- Take a deep breath (that forest breath we talked about last time).
- Repeat to yourself mentally: “My worth as a person has nothing to do with my bank balance or the price of cryptocurrency. I am a source of creativity and I deserve prosperity, wherever it comes from.”
Healing your relationship with money is healing your soul. It means stopping acting out of fear of not having enough (so typical of us immigrants) and starting to trust in life.
From my snowy corner in Ontario, I wish you a Christmas where abundance is measured in hugs, health, and peace of mind, rather than material things.

¡Qué buena conexión has hecho!
