Hace unos días las instituciones educativas recibieron una invitación de la Iglesia Las Buenas Nuevas Multisede para participar de manera gratuita en una capacitación sobre el abuso infantil llamado “Soy un Guardian” dicho programa cumplió 10 años de creación por lo que decidieron hacer un evento especial financiado por la empresa privada dirigido a docentes de todas las etapas.
A few days ago the educational institutions received an invitation from the Good News Multi-Site Church to participate free of charge in a training on child abuse called "I am a Guardian". This program celebrated its 10th anniversary, so they decided to hold a special event financed by the private company and aimed at teachers of all stages.

El programa “Soy un Guardián” es una capacitación contra el abuso y maltrato infantil que busca crear una cultura de prevención, para ello realizan jornadas de capacitación a voluntarios que se unan a este propósito, Como lo hacen? Entrenando a padres y representantes, desarrollando talleres para niños, niñas y adolescentes, y por último difunden materiales que apoyan dicha labor.
Dentro de los principales objetivos de esta capacitación se encuentran: prevenir el abuso y maltrato en niños y niñas, dar a conocer los derechos de los niños y niñas; producir, distribuir y promover materiales educativos en apoyo a la prevención del abuso y del maltrato infantil en diversas instituciones y a través de diversos medios de comunicación; también instruir a padres y representantes para que sean los primeros guardianes de sus hijos; capacitar a docentes para que en su rol de orientador, incorporen en su planificación la enseñanza del Programa de Prevención “Soy un Guardián” en sus instituciones.
The program "I am a Guardian" is a training against child abuse and mistreatment that seeks to create a culture of prevention, for this purpose they conduct training sessions for volunteers who join this purpose, how do they do it? By training parents and representatives, developing workshops for children and adolescents, and finally disseminating materials that support this work.
Among the main objectives of this training are: to prevent abuse and mistreatment of children, to raise awareness of children's rights; to produce, distribute and promote educational materials in support of the prevention of child abuse and mistreatment in various institutions and through various media; also to instruct parents and representatives to be the first guardians of their children; to train teachers so that in their role as counselors, they incorporate in their planning the teaching of the Prevention Program "I am a Guardian" in their institutions.
Ahora bien, la capacitación se llevó a cabo en las instalaciones de la Iglesia Las Buenas Nuevas Multisede en su sede de la calle 48 de la ciudad de Barquisimeto. El mismo comenzó a las 8 am, y al llegar lo primero que debíamos hacer era una fila para registrarnos y que nos hicieran entrega del material.
Al comenzar fuimos recibidos con un número musical a cargo de los niños y jóvenes que hacen vida activa dentro de esta iglesia, además que la animación estuvo a cargo de la presentadora regional Gaby Terán. Ella dió entrada a un panel con cuatro expertos, el primero de ellos fue el Psicólogo Álvaro Rea quien nos explicó psicológicas y emocionales que trae el maltrato y abuso en los niños, todas las implicaciones que esto conlleva en el futuro. La segunda experta fue la Abogada Arelis Andueza quien nos conversó sobre los procesos legales, procedimientos y entes a los que se puede acudir cuando se está en presencia de un abuso o maltrato infantil.
Now, the training was held at the facilities of the Good News Multi-Site Church at its headquarters on 48th Street in the city of Barquisimeto. It began at 8 am, and when we arrived the first thing we had to do was to wait in line to register and to receive the material.
At the beginning we were greeted with a musical number by the children and young people who are active in this church, in addition to the animation was in charge of the regional presenter Gaby Teran. She gave entrance to a panel with four experts, the first of them was the psychologist Alvaro Rea who explained to us the psychological and emotional consequences of mistreatment and abuse in children, all the implications that this entails in the future. The second expert was the lawyer Arelis Andueza who talked to us about the legal processes, procedures and entities to which you can turn to when you are in the presence of child abuse or mistreatment.
Seguidamente, una pediatra forense de la cual no recuerdo el nombre compartió con todos nosotros las implicaciones físicas que trae un abuso, además del proceso que realizan cuando ocurre este lamentable hecho. Por último el Sr. Edgar Perozo experto en publicidad habló sobre el abuso cibernético, además de instruirnos en algunos términos como grooming y sexting; además de alertar sobre lo peligroso que pueden ser las redes sociales sí no se usan con responsabilidad.
Next, a forensic pediatrician, whose name I do not remember, shared with all of us the physical implications of abuse, as well as the process they carry out when this unfortunate event occurs. Finally, Mr. Edgar Perozo, an expert in advertising, spoke about cyber abuse, in addition to instructing us on some terms such as grooming and sexting; in addition to warning about how dangerous social networks can be if they are not used responsibly.
Cuando el panel finalizó se realizaron algunas preguntas las cuales los expertos respondieron con mucho profesionalismo. Después de culminar se hicieron algunas dinámicas con él público, además de un número musical muy hermoso llamado SOY LA CASITA DE DIOS, que de verdad me encantó y me quebrantó muchísimo.
Después de la presentación musical, otra abogada tuvo nuestra atención al hablarnos de las leyes que protegen a los niños y niñas. En su presentación hizo mucho hincapié en los errores de la educación sexual integral que se pretende impartir en las instituciones educativas, que no pretende formar una educación sexual sana, sino todo lo contrario.
When the panel ended there were some questions which the experts answered with great professionalism. After the panel ended, there were some dynamics with the audience, and a very beautiful musical number called SOY LA CASITA DE DIOS (I AM GOD'S LITTLE HOUSE), which I really loved and was very moved by.
After the musical presentation, another lawyer had our attention when she spoke to us about the laws that protect children. In her presentation she emphasized the errors of the comprehensive sexual education that is intended to be taught in educational institutions, which does not intend to form a healthy sexual education, but quite the opposite.
Ya para finalizar la actividad, la Mgr. Aura Ballesteros de Rea nos habló de algunos casos muy tristes, pero también de niños empoderados que al verse en peligro se han podido defender ante cualquier tipo de agresividad, esto gracias a la capacitación recibida del programa Soy un Guardián. Ya como despedida se entregaron reconocimientos a todo el equipo que durante 10 años han trabajado en estás capacitaciones y son parte del equipo. Cabe resaltar, que se hizo muchísimo hincapié en convertirnos en multiplicadores de esta información y a no quedarnos con el material guardado.
Aura Ballesteros de Rea told us about some very sad cases, but also of empowered children who have been able to defend themselves against any type of aggression, thanks to the training received from the I am a Guardian program. As a farewell, awards were presented to all the team that for 10 years have worked in these trainings and are part of the team. It is worth mentioning that a great emphasis was placed on becoming multipliers of this information and not to keep the material in storage.
Sinceramente, poder ser parte de la capacitación de Soy un Guardián fue sin duda una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido, en ocasiones creemos poder saber todo cuando en realidad es todo lo contrario. Es por ello, que debemos instruirnos para poder cuidar a esos seres inocentes que no tienen la culpa de nada y que son blancos fácil de personas malas que quieren hacerles daño, para satisfacer sus más asquerosas necesidades. Es necesario entender que es nuestro deber proteger a cualquier niño de un abuso o maltrato, porque hoy puede ser cualquier pequeño, pero el día de mañana puede ser un hijo, sobrino, primo, o cualquier otro familiar.
Honestly, being able to be part of the training of I am a Guardian was undoubtedly one of the best experiences I have had, sometimes we think we know everything when in fact it is the opposite. That is why we must educate ourselves to be able to take care of those innocent beings who are not to blame for anything and who are easy targets for bad people who want to harm them, to satisfy their most disgusting needs. It is necessary to understand that it is our duty to protect any child from abuse or mistreatment, because today it could be any child, but tomorrow it could be a son, nephew, cousin, or any other relative.
