I recall a few of these ones, like walking under a ladder. I think it was a general belief, however, rather than one that came to me from any family member. I asked my father once if he thought walking under a ladder was bad luck and he said that it depends on whether it has something balanced on it which might fall on you. 😆 There was also one about 7 years bad luck for breaking a mirror.
