El sol es la fuente de vida en nuestro planeta, pero no es inagotable como pudiéramos pensar, porque como todo en este universo, evoluciona y cambia. En unos millones de años dejara de ser la estrella amarilla llena de luz para convertirse en una enana roja. Habrá transformado parte de su energía y cuando esto pase todo lo que depende del sol cambiará. Pero para eso falta mucho tiempo y no debemos preocuparnos.
Las plantas utilizan la energía solar para producir alimentos en un proceso único y esencial para la vida... la fotosíntesis y así en su gran variabilidad, algunas especies necesitan estar recibiendo sus rayos de luz directamente, mientras que otras pueden vivir en lugares sombreados o en penumbra.
El cactus había nacido a plena exposición solar, en un parque del centro de la ciudad, pero su vida va a cambiar. La Sra. Luisa a la cual le encantan las plantas, ha tomado un hijo pequeño y lo separó de su madre, se lo llevó a su apartamento y lo ha sembrado en un pote con tierra. Como tenía raicillas formadas ha podido sobrevivir al trasplante, pero la luz que recibe a través de la ventana es muy poca y aun cuando ha ido creciendo, no está en las mejores condiciones. El siente que le falta energía a su vida.
Sus compañeros, una cala hermosa y pretenciosa con flores de color rojo intenso, una planta millonaria con muchas hojas de color verde brillante, una planta de cintas cuyos hijos cuelgan de ella como si los columpiara y la sansevieria, larga como una jirafa, están preocupados por el pequeño cactus.
La Sra. Luisa no se ha dado cuenta aún de que el necesita estar en otro ambiente y tampoco sabe cómo cuidarlo. Cuando riega a sus otras plantas también le echa agua y el suelo está muy húmedo. Es demasiado, no la necesita y puede morir.
El pequeño cactus, trata de adaptarse, pero no puede y sus amigos tratan de animarlo. La Cala le da el aroma de sus flores, la Cinta les dice a sus hijos que jueguen con él. La Millonaria conversa sobre temas muy interesantes como por ejemplo la suerte y las buenas energías que ella otorga a quien la tiene y la Sansevieria le cuenta chistes para que se ría, como por ejemplo que a ella la llaman lengua de suegra…por lo larga y a que la Sra. Cinta le dicen mala madre porque bota a sus hijos. Pero esto no lo ha ayudado mucho, a pesar de la buena intención de sus amigos.
La Sra. Luisa tiene la visita de sus nietos a los que no ha visto desde hace meses porque están estudiando y viven en otra ciudad. Ella está feliz de que hayan podido ir a pasar sus vacaciones con ella. Maribel y Julio son dos jóvenes muy amorosos con su abuela. Maribel está estudiando Agronomía y Julio es músico.
—¡Abuela ya tienes varias plantas en tu jardín, que bonito se ve! —le dice Maribel acercándose para ver cuales plantas tiene.
—Qué bueno que sabes de plantas mi querida nieta así me puedes ayudar. Mira, el cactus no está bien y no sé qué hacer para que mejore. Le echo agua, le he puesto fertilizante y hasta le he aplicado un insecticida natural, el que tú me enseñaste a hacer con la semilla de aguacate, por si acaso tiene algún insecto. Tú sabes mi niña que yo a esta edad no veo muy bien y hay algunos muy pequeños.
Maribel observa el cactus que tiene sus tallos muy blandos y casi sin color.
—¡No abuela! este pequeño cactus no puede estar acá, porque no recibe suficiente luz, el necesita estar a pleno sol, tienes que cambiarlo de lugar o morirá. Y yo creo que en el apartamento no hay un espacio bien iluminado.
—¡Ay mi nieta querida! y ¿Dónde lo puedo poner?
—Bueno abuela si tú no quieres que muera, debes llevarlo a un lugar donde él pueda recibir mucho sol.
—Tienes razón hija, voy a sembrarlo de nuevo en el parque.
Sus nietos apoyan a su abuela y la acompañan al parque. El pequeño cactus se despide de sus amigos y promete no olvidarlos. Y allá está, al lado de otros de su especie y de otras plantas, recibiendo los maravillosos rayos del sol que lo están ayudando a crecer, sus tallos ahora son verdes y suculentos con muchas espinas, para protegerse y quizás en algún momento formará una preciosa flor que atraerá a muchas abejas y pájaros que le darán alegría y otro sentido a su vida.

The sun is the source of life on our planet, but it is not as inexhaustible as we might think, because like everything in this universe, it evolves and changes. In a few million years it will cease to be the yellow star full of light to become a red dwarf. It will have transformed part of its energy and when this happens everything that depends on the sun will change. But that will be a long time away and we should not worry.
Plants use solar energy to produce food in a unique and essential process for life... photosynthesis and so in their great variability some species need to be receiving its rays of light directly, while others can live in shady places or in semi-darkness.
The cactus had been born in full sunlight, in a park in the center of the city, but its life is about to change. Mrs. Luisa, who loves plants, has taken a small son and separated him from his mother, took him to her apartment and planted him in a pot with soil. As it had formed rootlets it has been able to survive the transplant, but the light it receives through the window is very little and even though it has been growing, it is not in the best condition. He feels that his life lacks energy.
His companions, a beautiful and pretentious calla with deep red flowers, a millionaire plant with many bright green leaves, a ribbon plant whose children hang from it as if it were swinging them and the giraffe-like sansevieria, are worried about the little cactus.
Mrs. Luisa has not yet realized that it needs to be in another environment and does not know how to take care of it. When she waters her other plants she also waters it and the soil is too wet. It is too much, it doesn't need it and may die.
The little cactus, tries to adapt, but he can't and his friends try to encourage him. La Cala gives him the scent of her flowers, La Cinta tells her children to play with him. La Millonaria talks about very interesting topics such as luck and the good energies that she gives to those who have it and Sansevieria tells him jokes to make him laugh, for example that she is called mother-in-law's tongue...because of her long mother-in-law's tongue...because Mrs. Cinta is called a bad mother because she throws her children away. But this has not helped him much, despite the good intentions of his friends.
Mrs. Luisa has a visit from her grandchildren whom she has not seen for months because they are studying and live in another city. She is happy that they have been able to spend their vacation with her. Maribel and Julio are two young people who are very fond of their grandmother. Maribel is studying Agronomy and Julio is a musician.
"Grandma, you already have several plants in your garden, how beautiful it looks!" says Maribel approaching her to see which plants she has.
"It's good that you know about plants, my dear granddaughter, so you can help me. Look, the cactus is not doing well and I don't know what to do to make it better. I pour water on it, I have put fertilizer on it and I have even applied a natural insecticide, the one you taught me to make with avocado seeds, just in case it has any insects. You know, my girl, that at this age I can't see very well and there are some very small ones."
Maribel observes the cactus whose stems are very soft and almost colorless.
"No grandmother," she says, "this little cactus can't be here, because it doesn't get enough light, it needs to be in full sun, you have to move it or it will die. And I think that in the apartment there is not a well-lit space."
"Oh my dear granddaughter! where can I put him?"
"Well grandmother, if you don't want it to die, you should take it to a place where it can get a lot of sun."
"You are right daughter, I will plant it again in the park."
Her grandchildren support their grandmother and accompany her to the park. The little cactus says goodbye to his friends and promises not to forget them. And there it is, next to others of its kind and other plants, receiving the wonderful rays of the sun that are helping it to grow, its stems are now green and succulent with many thorns, to protect itself and perhaps at some point it will form a beautiful flower that will attract many bees and birds that will give joy and meaning to its life.

Bendiciones amiga, me encantó tu post, es muy interesante saber que la mayoría de los cactus son de tierra árida, se ven en los desiertos y en nuestros hogares no ameritan de mucha agua, sino que extraño se alimentan prácticamente del sol. Yo tengo cactus en mi casa y no la riego casi nunca, ellas consumen el agua de llovía, en tiempo de invierno.
Hola @nara61. Ellos están adaptados a vivir con muy poca agua y con mucho sol, por eso pueden vivir en los desiertos.

Que linda reflexión acabas de brindar en esta escritura, porque el sol es muy importante para muchas plantas, hay muchas que no necesitan tener su luz directa, ya que esto ocasionaría efectos contradictorios, pero hay otros que al contrario necesitan su mayor aporte, el sol es tan importante en la humanidad, que espero que lo que dices ocurra cuando ya encuentren la manera de generar los efectos que necesitamos de el, sabiendo que la era tecnológica avanza cada día más.
