Hoy me gustaría hablar de una pequeña reflexión que tuve hace días en el trabajo, vino en el momento perfecto, ya que actualmente he trazado algunas de las metas más grandes de mi vida y estoy trabajando por ellas, lo cual tiende a abarcar toda mi atención y a veces dejo de lado las “pequeñas grandes cosas”, esas que nos van llenando a medida que avanzamos hacia nuestros sueños.
Podría describir el momento como un rayo de sol muy grande de esos que te muestran el camino en medio de un mar de metas y ambiciones. Vino de una persona con un aura realmente radiante y una energía tanto bonita como contagiosa. Pasó en mi lugar de trabajo, en el momento menos esperado y en un lugar que de por si es muy movido y en ocasiones algo desordenado.
Se trataba del almacén donde recibimos toda la mercancía que vendemos a nuestros clientes. Los camiones se paran en un lugar determinado, se abren las puertas y a través de una correa automática se empieza a descargar todo. Es un trabajo bastante agotador y normalmente diferentes empleados se turnan para hacerlo, esa semana me tocó estar cerca de ellos porque la persona que normalmente los supervisa no se encontraba disponible. Al llegar el momento de descargar el camión me paré al frente del grupo, me dirigí a una muchacha muy joven y le dije: “Marissa hoy te toca descargar el camión por media hora”, a lo cual me respondió con la sonrisa más grande que había visto en el día: “YEEEEEESSSSS, AMO DESCARGAR EL CAMIÓN, me mantiene muy activa y el tiempo pasa volando”… Debo admitir que su reacción aunque fue muy linda me descolocó un poco, ¿por qué estaba tan feliz? Nunca me pasó en su posición y muy raramente me pasa en la posición que estoy ahora. Me hubiese gustado entender lo que pasaba por su mente, aún no lo entiendo, pero quiero aprender de ella.
Quiero aprender a tener las ambiciones más complejas junto a las razones más simples para ser feliz, a ser tan ambicioso como paciente, a fluir con la alegría de las pequeñas grandes cosas, a mantener mi ambición igual de imparable mientras yo paro a disfrutar, quiero aprender a dar lo mejor por mis sueños, con mi criterio y con mis herramientas, pero desde los zapatos de Marissa.
Today I would like to talk about a thought that came to mind a few days ago at work, I’m currently working on very ambitious goals and this idea showed up in the perfect moment, since I tend to dedicate all of my focus and energy towards my dreams while forgetting to enjoy and to be grateful for the small things as they come along the way.
I could describe this as a sudden realization that showed me the way while navigating through a sea of goals and ambitions. It came from a person with a beautiful and contagious energy and happened when I least expected, in a place where I have never had imagined.
I’m talking about the warehouse where we get all of our freight, in fact, it happened when we were about to start unloading a truck. To do this we have to designate someone who is going to put everything from the trailer into an automated line, which will basically do the rest. This is a very tiring job that requires physical endurance and is usually done by men. That day I had to supervise the crew because their supervisor was not available. I spoke with the group and gave them directions as usual, but my favorite moment was when I started giving directions to this girl and told her “Marissa, you will unload the truck for half an hour” to which she responded: “YEEEEEESSSSSSS! I LOVE UNLOADING THE TRUCK, it keeps me active and time FLIES by” … Her reaction caught me off guard, I wasn’t expecting so much excitement, or even happiness in a situation like that. Why was she even happy? It never happened to me in a position like hers and it doesn’t happen to me in my current position. I would have loved to understand what was going through her mind, in fact, I still don’t understand, but I would love to learn from her.
I want to learn how to have the biggest goals along with the simplest reasons to be happy, to be as ambitious as patient, to feel joy with small things, to keep my ambition as unstoppable as always while I stop to enjoy, I want to learn how to do my best in life, with my judgement and my resources, but doing so from Marissa’s shoes.
