Hi fellow Hiveians,

Remembrance Monochrome Monday

It's hard to believe that the photos I took in this post were actually a relatively short time ago!

It's not often that we get a spring snow squall.. but man did this year surprise us! It was well after April Fools day, which is one of the other storms we got when I was a kid. We got dumped a foot of snow or something crazy, it was pretty wild and for sure an April fools day. This year, we got a bit more!

It wasn't a foot of snow that's for sure, because as much as I would like to get some decent snow, one of the things I was primarily concerned about was the grapes! The flowers were already coming out, which you can see in one of the photos.. but I wanted to make sure that the grape harvests we love doing don't get cancelled because of the damn snow LOL they kill the flowers before they can blossom!

Since I'm on a bit of a hiatus from downloading the photos from my phone.. I figured I might as well dig back into the archive! I'm currently at over 300 photos in the black and white category alone.. lol that's a decent chunk!

I've mentioned it before for sure.. I think it's really cool to be able to live vicariously through the memories that these photos elicit. I can remember where I was, somewhat the things that were going on in the old brain, such as thinking it was cool as hell to be out in a spring snow squall, and who was with me. Unfortunately the little man was not with me in this case!

It was also pretty fun in this particular spot because I found another fun little park to visit when we need to find somewhere else to go. I think I'm actually going to bring my son to it soon so that we can get some photos of the beautiful fall foliage while it's still around!

There are also certainly some cool opportunities. I'm certainly not a professional photographer, but I do like to here and there find a perspective on a photo and spend a little more time and effort to make it presentable! I think it's cool to take these "down the barrel" type shots, where you get the camera lens really close to an object and aim down it so we see it travel away onto the horizon.

Small things like this are what makes it pretty fun to cycle though those photos and see how things are over time. There are certainly a couple photos in the mix that elicit some emotional responses from me, such as times when I know that things weren't the best, so I also think photos represent a lot more than meets the eye to those who enjoy and appreciate them.

With the snow though, it's always really dramatic to see how it presents itself in black and white! I for sure feel a lot of a noir aspect to it.. there is a lot of emotion if that sounds right.. feels like an old 50's movie or something!

Beautifully said — it’s amazing how photography captures not just what we see, but what we feel in those moments. Your “down the barrel” approach really shows a thoughtful eye for perspective and emotion.

Won't be long and it will look like that here!

A lot of things happening in one frame!... Great work!... Thanks for sharing!
