And since today is children's day in my country, this morning I found this baby mantis before leaving home, probably a divine gift, if you are one of those who believe in luck and stuff, sometimes I believe in that, and at the end of the day we believe what we believe! When I was opening the gate for my dad to take the truck out, I heard him calling me, I thought he had forgotten his wallet (something very typical of him) but he asked me to remove the little praying mantis that was in one of the windshields wiper brushes, to which I answered him to pass me my phone, because I had to photograph this little one, it is the first time I find one so small, and it looks so cute to be honest.
After taking a few pictures, I brought my phone to her so she could get on it and place it on one of the nearby plants, I left her on the achiote tree hoping to find her when I returned, to take some pictures with my camera, but that did not happen, we looked for her, but we did not manage to see her anywhere else, probably there are more of these little friends around, since we had already seen some adults around there, and they may have left some children scattered around my garden.
Some curious facts about praying mantises is that they can last up to a year of life, the females devour the males after copulation and as they grow they change their exoskeleton, as do bedbugs, snakes, spiders and scorpions, it is likely that this little one has at least 3 or 4 changes of clothes left, as my grandmother used to say, before reaching adulthood, but tell me if this little one is not a real sweetheart.

Y como hoy se celebra el día del niño en mi país, esta mañana me he encontrado a esta mantis bebe antes de salir de casa, probablemente un regalo divino, si eres de los que creen en la suerte y esas cosas, a veces me da por creer en eso, y es que, al final de cuentas ¡Creamos lo que creemos! Cuando estaba abriendo el portón para que mi papá sacara la camioneta, escuche que me llamaba, pensé que había olvidado su cartera (algo muy típico de él) pero me pedía que retirara la pequeña mantis religiosa que se encontraba en uno de los cepillos del limpiaparabrisas, a lo que yo le respondí que me pasara mi teléfono, pues tenía que fotografiar esta pequeñita, es la primera vez que me encuentro una tan pequeña. y es que se ve tan tierna para ser sinceros.
Luego de tomarle unas cuantas fotografías, le acerque mi teléfono para que se subiera en él y colocarla en una de las plantas cercanas, la deje en el árbol de achiote esperando encontrarla cuando regresara, para hacerle unas cuentas fotografías con mi cámara, pero eso no ocurrió, la buscamos, pero no logramos verla por otro lado, probablemente hayan más de estas amiguitas por allí, puesto que ya habíamos visto algunas adultas por allí, y capaz dejaron algunos hijos regados por mi jardín.
Algunos datos curiosos sobre las mantis religiosas es que estas pueden durar hasta un año de vida, las hembras devoran a los machos luego de la copula y a medida que van creciendo van mudando su exoesqueleto, como lo hacen las chinches, las serpientes, las arañas y los alacranes, es probable que a esta pequeña le queden al menos unos 3 o 4 cambios de ropa, como decía mi abuela, antes de alcanzar su edad adulta, pero díganme ustedes si no es toda una ternurita esta pequeña.
