Hello, Hive family!
It’s been a while since I last shared anything here, and trust me, I have good reason. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been swept up in an emotional whirlwind because I finally achieved something I’ve been dreaming of for years—I’m now a certified graduate with a Bachelor’s degree from the prestigious University of Lagos (Unilag)!
But this milestone didn’t come easy. It’s a tale of delayed dreams, resilience, and the ultimate reward. Let me take you through the journey.
A Dream Deferred: The Waiting Game
Originally, I was supposed to graduate in 2022. Back then, I imagined throwing my cap in the air and celebrating my hard work in perfect time. But life had other plans.
First came the COVID-19 pandemic, which turned the world upside down. Classes were moved online, exams were postponed, and uncertainty loomed over everything. Just as I thought things were beginning to stabilize, another obstacle appeared—the infamous university strikes. Months turned into years, and 2025 felt like an eternity away.
During this time, I often questioned if the finish line would ever come into view. But one thing kept me going: the belief that every delay was setting the stage for a grander celebration.
The Day It Finally Happened
Fast forward to January 2025, and the long-awaited convocation ceremony finally arrived. As I stood there in my cap and gown, surrounded by friends, family, and a sea of excited graduates, the struggles of the past few years faded into the background.
The ceremony wasn’t just a moment of celebration—it was a statement of resilience. I was no longer just Franklin Hart, the artist, actor, and jewelry designer. I was also Franklin Hart, BSc graduate.
The Balancing Act
While waiting for this moment, I didn’t sit idle. I poured myself into my art, co-founded the Jaskara art movement, and designed stunning jewelry pieces. These endeavors gave me purpose and helped me grow in ways I never expected.
But make no mistake—earning this degree was a personal victory, one that represents the culmination of countless nights of studying, creating, and believing in my potential.
A Message to My Hive Family
If you’ve noticed my absence here, now you know why! Convocation week was filled with joy, reflection, and celebrations, and I’m still soaking it all in. To anyone reading this who feels stuck in a season of delays, let my story be a reminder: delays are not denials. Keep pushing, keep working, and your time will come.
Now that I’ve officially joined the league of Unilag alumni, I’m looking forward to sharing more of my artistic journey with you all. From breathtaking portraits to jewelry masterpieces, I have so much in store.
Here’s to new beginnings, Hive family. The best is yet to come!
Cheers,
Franklin Hart, BSc
