En un pueblo muy apartado de la ciudad se encontraba Antonio, un joven de 19 años de edad que vivía con su abuelo paterno. Donde le gustaba mucho la madera y siempre realizaba esculturas para decorar su casa y esta era una manera de estar compartiendo con su abuelo, un señor mayor de edad que no podía hacer muchas cosas. Esta pequeña familia no contaba con los recursos necesarios para vivir y pasar sus días tranquilos, así que Antonio tendrá que buscar las maneras de que él y su abuelo salgan a delante.
In a town far away from the city was Antonio, a 19 year old young man who lived with his paternal grandfather. He loved wood and always made sculptures to decorate his house and this was a way to be sharing with his grandfather, an elderly man who could not do many things. This small family did not have the necessary resources to live and spend their days peacefully, so Antonio will have to find ways for him and his grandfather to get ahead.

Un día, por la mañana, Antonio se encontraba en el patio de la casa, era un patio muy bonito, lleno de muchos árboles muy grandes y de distintas clases, siempre cortaban alguno para hacer esculturas, él sabía que estaba haciéndole daño a la naturaleza, pero la necesidad y la desesperación lo llevan a cortar los árboles, así que decidió cortar uno muy alto que tenía mucho tiempo. Le explicó a su abuelo con que fin lo estaba haciendo, así que este aceptó y de inmediato con la ayuda de una motosierra empezaron a tumbarlo.
Cuando el árbol cayó al piso, soltó muchas hojas y ramas expandidas por todo el patio, hizo un ruido tan fuerte que varias aves salieron volando por el susto y el impacto del árbol. Antonio de inmediato empezó a quitarle las ramas que no eran de utilidad para cortarlo en pedazos más pequeños, su abuelo sentado en una silla nada más lo veía trabajar y le daba algunas palabras de aliento. Al final de la tarde, terminó de trabajar dejando solamente el tronco pelado listo para quitarle la corteza, córtarlo en pedazos más pequeños y asi fuera más fácil guardar la madera en el deposito.
One day, in the morning, Antonio was in the yard of the house, it was a very nice yard, full of many big trees of different kinds, they always cut some to make sculptures, he knew he was hurting nature, but the need and desperation lead him to cut the trees, so he decided to cut a very tall one that had a long time. He explained to his grandfather why he was doing it, so he accepted and immediately with the help of a chainsaw began to cut it down.
When the tree fell to the ground, it released many leaves and branches that spread throughout the patio, making such a loud noise that several birds flew out from the shock and impact of the tree. Antonio immediately began to remove the branches that were not useful to cut it into smaller pieces, his grandfather sitting in a chair as soon as he saw him work and gave him some words of encouragement. At the end of the afternoon, he finished work leaving only the bare trunk ready to be stripped of bark, cut into smaller pieces so it would be easier to store the wood in the warehouse.

La mañana siguiente Antonio se paró muy contento y con las pilas bien puestas, dispuesto a trabajar, ya que tenía bastante trabajo por delante. Comenzó con los trozos más pequeños para no cansarse mucho y así poder terminar más rápido. Lo sujetaba de otro tronco para poder moverlo, por el hecho de que eran muy pesados para él, además necesitaba llevarlos hasta donde tenían las herramientas y los equipo de carpintería. Una vez el tronco en su lugar, su abuelo le daba las recomendaciones y pasos que tenía que seguir para que las esculturas quedaran bien. Antonio estaba muy concentrado de lo que estaba haciendo y aprendiendo, además tenía que estar muy pendiente para así evitar un accidente.
The next morning Antonio stood up very happy and with his batteries well charged, ready to work, as he had a lot of work ahead of him. He started with the smallest pieces, so as not to tire himself too much and thus be able to finish faster. He held it from another log so he could move it, because they were too heavy for him, plus he needed to carry them to where they had the tools and carpentry equipment. Once the trunk was in place, his grandfather would give him the recommendations and steps he had to follow to make the sculptures look good. Antonio was very focused on what he was doing and learning, and he had to be very attentive to avoid an accident.

Pasaron dos días de mucho trabajo, día y tarde, pero al final pudo terminar todas las esculturas, hizo con la ayuda del abuelo algunas mesas, animales y otros pequeños objetos de cocina y pintados con sellador de madera. Antonio estaba muy contento y feliz por lo que había logrado, su abuelo quedó sorprendido por la habilidad que tenía su nieto. Así que llego el momento más esperado por Antonio y era la venta, este pequeño joven tenía que caminar unos kilómetros para poder llegar a la ciudad y tenía que cargar con una carretilla para poder transportar sus esculturas.
Antonio salió muy temprano de su casa para así aprovechar el clima fresco de la mañana y no le agarrara el sol tan fuerte, le pidió la bendición a su abuelo y se marchó. Durante el camino se dio cuenta de que muchos jóvenes y adultos también hacían lo mismo que él, llevaban alimentos y cosas artesanales para vender. Además, noto y pensó que la necesidad no solo estaba en su casa, sino que otras familias también necesitaban recurso económico para poder sobrevivir, donde cada quien buscaba la manera de inventárselas.
They spent two days of hard work, day and evening, but in the end he was able to finish all the sculptures, he made with the help of grandfather some tables, animals and other small kitchen objects and painted with wood sealant. Antonio was very happy and happy for what he had achieved, his grandfather was amazed by the ability that his grandson had. So the most awaited moment for Antonio arrived and it was the sale, this little young man had to walk a few miles to get to the city and had to carry a wheelbarrow to transport his sculptures.
Antonio left his house very early in order to take advantage of the cool morning weather and to avoid the strong sun, he asked his grandfather for his blessing and left. On the way he noticed that many young people and adults were also doing the same as him, carrying food and handicrafts to sell. In addition, he noticed and thought that the need was not only in his house, but that other families also needed economic resources to survive, where everyone was looking for ways to invent them.

Cuando llego a la ciudad estaba muy cansado, pero a la vez muy feliz, decidió pararse debajo de un puente para descansar un rato, vio que había mucho movimiento de personas y tránsito, que pasaban por ese lugar. Antonio puso todas sus esculturas en la acera y los acomodo, pasaron muchas personas y nadie le compraba, solamente lo veía y le preguntaba qué hacía en ese lugar él solo, él no les respondía. De repente llego una familia y les gustó todas las esculturas que tenía puesta a la venta y deciden comprárselas para apoyar a este niño. Antonio estaba muy contento, por el hecho de que le habían gustado su trabajo y lo pudo vender todo.

Antonio put all his sculptures on the sidewalk and arranged them, many people passed by and nobody bought them, they only saw him and asked him what he was doing in that place alone, he did not answer them. Suddenly a family arrived and they liked all the sculptures he had for sale and decided to buy them to support this child. Antonio was very happy, because he liked his work and was able to sell it all.

La tarde ya estaba cayendo, agarró su carretilla y se fue de nuevo a casa, con los bolsillos llenos de dinero y con el corazón muy acelerado por la emoción que tenía de contarle a su abuelo. Cuando llego a su casa de inmediato abrazó a su abuelo y se puso a llorar de felicidad. Le contó toda esa experiencia que había vivido para vender la mercancía y le entrego todo el dinero que había ganado. Salieron al patio para escoger cuál sería el próximo árbol para cortar y hacer el mismo procedimiento.
Desde ese día Antonio y su abuelo decidieron cortar los árboles más viejos para realizar sus esculturas. Tuvo días buenos y no tan buenos, además pudo comprar comida, ahorra y mejorar sus herramientas de trabajo y lo más importante para este joven fue agradecerle a su abuelo por haberle enseñado el mundo de la carpintería, ya que sin esta actividad su vida sería otra.
The afternoon was already falling, he grabbed his wheelbarrow and went back home, with his pockets full of money and with his heart racing with the excitement of telling his grandfather. When he arrived home, he immediately hugged his grandfather and began to cry with happiness. He told him all about the experience he had gone through to sell the merchandise and gave him all the money he had earned. They went out to the yard to choose the next tree to cut and did the same procedure.
From that day on Antonio and his grandfather decided to cut the oldest trees to make their sculptures. He had good days and not so good days, he was able to compare food, save money and improve his work tools and the most important thing for this young man was to thank his grandfather for teaching him the world of carpentry, because without this activity his life would be different.
