February 5th 2017, Peter from Kaduna state of Nigeria, was enlisted into the military after several attempts to join the military, though he had half parental consent he was so excited to have been enlisted. Peter's aim for joining the military was to avenge the death of his twin brother Paul who was brutally killed by bandits.
December 24th 2013, while every Christian household was preparing for 25th which was Christmas, behold the ugly incident that took Paul's life occurred, the bandits in mass invaded jugolo village of Kaduna state, abducted many people while mamy were killed including Paul.
Peter was saved because he was on top the mango tree in their compound plugging mango which they wanted to use for juice for the Christmas celebration the following day, so when the abductors came Peter remained on the tree, silently in tears he watched the gruesome murder of his twin brother.
He could not hold himself as everything was so devastating to him, immediately two thoughts came to his mind, first to jump down and be killed same as his twin brother, and secondly to avenge the death of his twin brother by joining the military, the faces and language he heard the abductors spoke was likened to Fulani language, therein he developed serious hatred towards the Fulani's, among the two thoughts, he choose the later.
That was the birth of joining the military. He felt fulfilled when he was enlisted into the military, it was like a dream comes true, the avenue to avenge the death of his brother had come.
After intensive 6 months of basic recruitment training, he was posted to Borno state during the heat of Boko haram in Nigeria and Borno happened to be the center of the terrorist group. Though, new in the army he never feared gun battle with the terrorist hence his motive of joining the military.
Two years later, he got married to Patience, the Barack was filled up hence Peter had no quarters in the barracks, so Patience stayed with Peter's parents in Kaduna.
Patience called Peter two months after marriage then told him, she was pregnant, Peter was so happy that he would be a father soon, he also thought, if Paul had been alive perhaps they would have married same time and would have been expecting their first kid same time because they had the habit of doing things together,so the thought of Paul spoiled his day.
Months later, on this fateful day, Peter's camp was attacked, many of his colleagues died instantly while the rest of them that survived engaged their attackers, when the battle became tensed, Peter brought his phone to call his wife and perhaps to speak with her for the last time as chance of surviving the battle was very slim, the attackers had surrounded the camp no way out for the surviving military personnel aside to engage them.
His wife managed to pick but couldn't narrate her ordeal to Peter who was on gun battle unknowing to his wife, Peter was hearing gunshot on the background of his wife and she was terribly panting, she had received bullets from the bandits, the only word Peter heard from her was "darling, bandits! bandits!! bandits!!!" then she gave up her ghost.
Peter knew that same bandits that killed his twin brother has also taken the life of who he treasured most, Peter in anguish whispered to his colleague a close friend who was still in the battle ground with him.
He said to him "Simon here comes my end, all that I treasured and laboured for had been taken from me, its time to pay the ultimate price, for "life is meaningless" immediately he came out boldly from their hiding place and received shots from their attackers and he died.
