MASTERING STEALTH TACTICS IN FIVE ALIVE RULESET!

in Splinterlands17 days ago (edited)

Ruleset Focus

During this week's Battle Mage Secrets, we shall explore the FIVE ALIVE ruleset, a recent addition to the dynamic battles of Splinterlands. This new ruleset limits players to deploying only FIVE units, excluding the Summoner, for the battle. Alongside the FIVE ALIVE ruleset, another similar ruleset called FAB FOUR (featured two weeks ago in the Battle Mage Secrets event) has also been introduced, allowing for the deployment of Four Monster units! 😅

The Battle

While fulfilling my responsibilities in the Splinterlands scholarship account I have with Balthazar, bltzr-wizard-729, I was able to engage in a battle that involves the FIVE ALIVE ruleset. To get right into the action, the battle link can be found here. Otherwise, do read on as I go into more detail regarding the lineup and fight.

Let's begin by dissecting the ruleset applied in this battle. First off, we encounter the Close Range ruleset, enabling all Ranged attacks to still be utilized from the first position. Following that, we have the main highlight of this week's challenge: the FIVE ALIVE ruleset, which we have thoroughly covered in the preceding section. Lastly, there is the Aimless ruleset, granting all units the Scattershot ability. This battle imposes a mana cap of 21 and prohibits the utilization of the Fire and Water Splinters.

Summoner, Quix The Devious

After assessing the rulesets for the battle, I formulated a strategic approach for assembling my team. Given my intention to incorporate the Dragon Splinter into my strategy, I immediately opted for Quix The Devious as my Summoner. Quix The Devious offer a -1 Range debuff which holds significant value in this battle, especially considering the Close Range ruleset, which typically amplifies the effectiveness of Ranged Monsters. This tactical advantage gave me the confidence needed going into the battle! 😏

First Position, Pelacor Conjurer

In this battle, the Pelacor Conjurer proves to be an excellent choice for a budget-friendly tank. Valued at only 2 mana, it boasts impressive Speed and Health stats. Enhanced by abilities like Magic Reflect, Phase, and Divine Shield, the Pelacor Conjurer becomes a formidable opponent against various enemy Monsters. Its Flying ability also allow a 25% chance of evading any attacks from non-flying units. It stands out as perhaps the finest low-cost tanker available in the game, especially in battles with strict mana limitations! 😁

Second Position, Stitch Leech

Optimally placing the Stitch Leech in the second slot strategically leverages its Life Leech ability. Supported by the dependable tanking skills of the Pelacor Conjurer, the Stitch Leech gains the opportunity to steadily accumulate Health stats by adeptly infiltrating the enemy's rear through its Sneak ability. Consequently, should the Pelacor Conjurer be defeated and the Stitch Leech summoned to the forefront, it can seamlessly transition into the role of a tank, ensuring the continuity of strategic defense! 😜

Third Position, Dhampir Infiltrator

In battles with constrained mana, the Dhampir Infiltrator stands out as a prized asset within my roster. Its prowess lies in its remarkable aggressiveness, swiftly eliminating foes from the enemy's rear ranks. With both Double Strike and Sneak abilities in its arsenal, the Dhampir Infiltrator possesses the capacity to mount a potent offensive alongside other Sneaky Monsters, presenting a formidable threat to opposing forces 😉

Fourth Position, Time Mage

The Time Mage emerges as a remarkable budget-friendly addition to any lineup, boasting a modest mana cost of just 4 alongside impressive stats including 3 Magic attack, 5 Speed, and 4 Health. Its Slow debuff ability provides a crucial Speed advantage to the team during battles. Furthermore, its Rust ability adds significant value to team compositions by stripping 2 Armor from the enemy's lineup, facilitating the swift elimination of foes, especially when combined with my Sneaky units! 😜

Last Position, Uraeus

Uraeus was a deliberate addition to my team, seamlessly fitting into my overarching battle strategy. Hailing from the Neutral Splinter, it stands as a versatile contender commonly seen in Diamond and Champion League Ranked Battles. Despite its economical mana cost, Uraeus packs a punch with 3 melee damage and the Sneak ability. Yet, its most notable attribute lies in its potential to afflict Poison upon opposing monsters, adding a potent layer of strategic depth to confrontations! 😵

The Analysis

Contrary to my expectations, the opponent's lineup didn't heavily feature Range Monsters, rendering Quix The Devious's -1 Range debuff ineffective. This unforeseen development left me feeling uneasy, realizing my initial assessment of their team was flawed.

Adding to my concerns, the opponent's choice of Helios Matriarch as their Summoner granted a valuable +1 Speed boost and enabled the use of a formidable Gladiator unit, Katrelba Gobson, a stronger version of the Dhampir Infiltrator I had deployed. Despite these daunting factors, I mentally prepared myself for a challenging battle 😣

However, as the battle unfolded, my apprehensions dissolved. My strategy of relentless Sneak attacks proved remarkably effective. By assembling a lineup prioritizing high Speed, leveraging Quix The Summoner's -1 Speed debuff, and further reducing the opposition's Speed with the Slow ability from Time Mage, I swiftly dismantled the opposing team's vulnerable rear ranks. Consistently employing the Sneaking tactic in battles with limited mana has consistently delivered favorable outcomes, and this encounter was no exception 👍
