Kaylia Silverleaf - A Conclave Arcana Classic

Conclave Arcana is the most recent Splinterlands set, and it is absolutely loaded with interesting cards from the 2 Mana Water Diviner to the 11 Mana Desolation. One of the best things about Splinterlands is that the ever-changing rule set means every card gets its opportunity to shine in the spotlight, and its difficult to objectively say that one card is "best." Although it might not be possible to pick a "best" card, it's definitely possible to pick a favorite. So, in today's post, I want to shine the spotlight on my newly acquired copy of Kaylia Silverleaf and explain why this is my favorite card in the Conclave Arcana set.

A Look At The Card

Kaylia Silverleaf is a 4 mana Archon that gives all opposing units a minus one magic debuff. Just by itself this is a pretty impressive ability. Magic is a very strong attack type that typically bypasses the opponent's armor and always hits its target. Magic attacks are very common in the meta, so, being able to apply this debuff to the entire opponent's lineup is a nice perk.

Kaylia vs Bortus??

The closest comparison that I can think of for Kaylia is Bortus from the Untamed Edition. Both Archons gave a minus one magic debuff to all opposing units. I know that Bortus is not in the modern format. So, this isn't an exactly fair comparison, but I do think it's helpful to show a comparison between Kaliya and some of the older cards just to demonstrate how powerful she truly is. For only one more mana, she can summon Elves of any Splinter that is playable in the match and gives all Elves the Execute ability, which causes them to attack a second time if the unit they are targeting has two or fewer health.

Why Bloodline Synergy Matters

Being able to summon Elves of any Splinter in a match is a huge advantage, especially when there is a restrictive rule set. Suppose that I am playing in a 99 Mana match that only allows ranged units and that the Earth and Life Splinters are avaiable. With my current collection,
I would only be able to play four units from the Life Team or four units from the Earth Team. However, if I use Kaliya as my Archon, I can use all four units from the Earth Team and pull in an additional two Elves from the Life Team. This allows me to completely fill my slot of six units and ensures that I don't leave as much mana on the table.

Why Execute Ability Matters

In addition to being able to summon Elves of any Splinter, Kaliya's Execute ability can be absolutely devastating on the battlefield. For example lets suppose that I play Lord Thanalor. If he targets an opponent with 5 health, his first attack will reduce that opponent's health to two, which will cause him to attack a second time. This essentially means that Lord Thanalor can instantly delete any opposing unit with five or less health. But things can get even crazier than that. Lets suppose that I also play Rune Arcanist and Sorrow Havester. Both of their weaken abilities will stack giving -2 health to the opponent's entire lineup.

This means that Lord Thanalor can one-shot eliminate any opposing unit that has a starting health of seven or less. The two weaken abilities will reduce the opposing units' health to five. Lord Thanalor's first attack will do minus three. And then the second attack, triggered by the Execute ability, will finish off the opponent's unit.

Does It Work in Battle??

The short answer is Yes!! Kaylia's unique ability to summon Elves of any Splinter and give them the Execute ability can be absolutely devastating on the battlefield. Just check out this example of my previous matches. What you'll notice is that I used Kaliya in three of my last five matches, and she was victorious in three out of three!
