I have been playing Splinterlands since the Untamed Era, and over this time, I've had a lot of great battles, got to use a lot of powerful cards, and had the opportunity to meet some pretty incredible people. In today's post, I'd like to take a little bit of time to express some gratitude and highlight some of the memorable cards, creators, and individuals that I'm thankful for.

The Creators
I'd like to start this post by introducing some of the amazing content creators that introduced me to the game, helped me learn strategy, and provided a source of community throughout my Splinterlands journey.
Dwayne Cunningham
I simply don't think it's possible to talk about Splinterlands content creators without mentioning Dwayne Cunningham. Dwayne is an absolute rock star of the Splinterlands social media scene, and he has been making videos about Splinterlands since the days when it was still called Steem Monsters. His down-to-earth videos about strategy and undervalued cards stimulated my curiosity and helped me develop new strategies to try out.

Bulldog1205
Bulldog is another content creator that deserves a mention. Whereas Dwayne's videos helped me with the technical aspects of the game, Bulldog's videos got me energized about the Splinterlands community. Especially during the height of the 2021 bull run, I looked forward to watching each of Bulldog's videos and hearing his take on what the next big move for the game would be.

AfterSound Gaming
I can't give enough credit to Aftersound for his dedication to the game. For the past several years, it seems like he somehow finds the time to make one (or more) Splinterlands themed videos almost every single day. Through bull markets and bear markets, he always manages to find enthusiasm for the game. That dedication and predictability makes him a pillar of the Splinterlands community.

Clove71
When I first started playing Splinterlands almost 5 years ago, Clove71 was one of the first creators that I found. The details are a bit fuzzy because it has been so long, but at one point, I mentioned on one of Clove71's blogs (or maybe on a YT vid) that I really loved the Untamed card Darkest Mage but hadn't been able to get it yet. Well guess what? A few days later, I logged into my account and saw that I had a copy of the card waiting for me. That was my first experience with the generosity and support that are hallmarks of the Splinterlands community, and I'm still delighted to have the card. P.S. - I still use that card to this day in my Guild Brawls.

The Cards
Over the past several years, I have played with a lot of incredible cards in Splinterlands, but there are two of them that really stand out: Mylor Crowling and Unicorn Mustang. The reason I like these cards so much was because it was kind of my first time developing a cohesive strategy in the game. Unicorn Mustang reduced the damage from the opponent's magic attacks, whereas my Mylor gave all of my friendly units Thorns and therefore protected them from melee attacks. At the time, I thoudht this was the coolest strategy ever, and was my primary lineup untlil I later discoverd the Oshannus/Alric combo.

Obviously, the next cards I have to mention are the incredible water combo of Alric, Djinn Oshannus, and Venari Wavesmith. This combination of cards helped me see how important it is to develop a synergy between my Archon and my support units. What I mean by that is that Alric gives a plus-one magic boost to all friendly units. Venari Wave Smith has the Protect ability which gives additonal armor to all of their friendly units. Technically, it would still be possible to play a ranged unit that gave Protect with the Water Team, but doing so would completely miss out on the plus-one magic boost.

Join Me In Splinterlands
I've played Splinterlands for the past several years, and although I've taken some occasional breaks from the game or occasionally complained about some of the changes the game has implemented, it has been an overwhelmingly positive experience. I've got a lot of enjoyment from playing the matches, I've enjoyed building community with other individuals, and I feel like playing the game has given me a better understanding of blockchain technology. With all of those things being said, I am grateful for Splinterlands. I think it's an incredible game with an even more amazing community. If you are looking for an action-packed trading card game that is more than just a game and also has a community and impressive technology behind it, then I'd invite you to join me in Splinterlands using my referral link.
