SPLINTERLANDS – Share your Battle Challenge – Retaliate

Another week, another few more exciting battles on #splinterlands

It seems that we are following a theme of abilities now, instead of a particular card, which is good because there will be more options for new players. Anyway,

This Week's Spotlight: Retaliate

This ability allows a card to hit back their melee attacker, essentially providing a free turn, and even if an attack kills the card, it can still hit back before dying , so this is a must-have for slow tanks. My favorite splinter with this ability is War Chaang. Actually, this is the only card with Retaliate that I play.

WAR CHAANG

Now this is a super great card for only 7 mana, with high health, high speed, and a unique attack pattern (as far as I know). It can attack either at range, or in melee, or both at range and in melee. That right, this car can attack twice in a turn, one with range, and then with melee. However, in most cases, it can attack only once, either as a backline archer or frontline melee.

So when does it attacks twice a turn? When the battle is fought with conditions that give monsters Sneak or Opportunity ability. In those battles, War Chaang shines through, furiously assaulting his enemies, retaliating if getting hit and when time comes, acting as a great tank.

There is one more sweet thing about this elephant. In battles with conditions that only allows melee monsters, you can actually deploy War Chaang, because as the rule states, you can use any monster with melee attack, and it doesn't matter if that monster also has range. Therefore, if you don't have monsters with Sneak or Opportunity for these kinds of fight, War Chaang is a game chaanger.

Anyway, here is my entry for this week.

This battle was fought with a mana cap of 28 and Melee Mayhem rule, so you can see for yourself how War Chaang attacked twice in a round. There was another additional rule of Spreading Fury, it was not my focus.

For this battle, I used level 2 Bortus so that I could make use of my high level cards. As usual, Furious Chicken, my favorite meat shield, occupied the first position to take the first hit. Serpent of Eld, with high speed, high health and Dodge, was the main tank, right behind of whom was our main character, War Chaang. Crustacean King at the back allowed my tank to survive longer. Finally, Sea monster at the back, attacked and tried to outlive other monsters, and stood ready to finish of any weary enemy that got to him in the end game.

As the game began, the chicken quickly got kill, but the serpent, with his dodging style, survive long enough to kill the opposing tank and wore down the second enemy in line. In the mean time, War Chaange and Sea Monster kept doing great damage. No sooner had my opponent's Rexxie taken the front line than it got killed by War Chaange who just took the serpent's place. At this point, the battle was pretty much over, as Earth Elemental couldn't do enough damage to outweigh my healing. The rest was just mobbing up.

I won, but it was regrettable that Chaange didn't get much action there, but it was a nice game overall.

So that's all for this week. Any inputs or advice is highly appreciated. Thank you for reading and see you in next challenges.

Thanks for sharing! - @rehan12

That was a nice battle to watch. In some cases I really wish, the retaliate monsters should have gotten more lives, jk. Nice victory. Besides here is the Splinterlands POV about the recent Twitter BAN! Thanks.
