This is a follow up post to from the 9/29 https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@arkasz/which-are-the-best-cards-to-buy-for-power-929 and will get an overview of price changes on the market.

I'm making an overview of which card categories are worth to buy on the market, if you want to maximize your power income. Power is derived from the below table:

Power Chart.jpg

There were a lot of changes happening in the last week. I believe these were influencing the current market prices:

  1. Splinterlands team changed the reward distribution, and made it harder to farm cards in Bronze rank. More info here: https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/game-economy-and-reward-updates
  2. The presale for the Chaos Legion packs will start on Monday, October 18th, 2021. Players might save up to buy card packs rather then individual cards at this point. More info here: https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/chaos-legion-set-and-presale-info
  3. Due to the utility of DEC in receiving SPS the DEC prices even doubled in price during the last week. This reflected on some of the card prices as well, as seasoned users buy cards for DEC and for them the cards became much cheaper.

And now lets get to the current numbers, so we know what is worth to buy (these prices are derived from lvl 1 cards, you might get better prices if you search for higher level cards):

Lowest Regular Foil card prices in the category:
PriceAlpha/PromoBeta/1st RewardDice/Untamed/2nd Reward LighingChaos/3rd Reward
Legendary$104$65$32.98$14
Epic$27.94$8.45$6.74$2.30
Rare$3.60$1.70$0.99$0.45
Common$1.43$0.54$0.25$0.14

And here is the overview of Power/Price, which means how much power you get for a dollar (the higher the number the better).

Regular Foil price/power:
Power/PriceAlpha/PromoBeta/1st RewardDice/Untamed/2nd RewardChaos/3rd Reward
Legendary28.8 Power/$23.1 Power/$30.3 Power/$35.7 Power/$
Epic21.5 Power/$35.5 Power/$29.7 Power/$43.5 Power/$
Rare33.3 Power/$35.3 Power/$40.4 Power/$44.4 Power/$
Common21 Power/$27.8 Power/$40.0 Power/$35.7 Power/$
Lowest Gold Foil card in category:

Legendary$3333$1987$850$325
Epic$710.50$370$200$70
Rare$147$66$44$13.75
Common$47$23.30$13.6$3.79
Gold Foil price/power:
Power/PriceAlpha/PromoBeta/1st RewardDice/Untamed/2nd RewardChaos/3rd Reward
Legendary45 Power/$37.7 Power/$58.8 Power/$38.5 Power/$
Epic42.2 Power/$40.5 Power/$50 Power/$35.7 Power/$
Rare40.8 Power/$45.5 Power/$45.5 Power/$36.4 Power/$
Common33.3 Power/$32.2 Power/$36.8 Power/$33.0 Power/$

The Power/Price ration fell since my last post significantly, while the best options were giving out 86.4 Power/$ on 9/24, 80 Power/$ on 9/29 we are now down to 58.8 Power/$.

The best cards to buy to get the most power for your buck are:

  • 1st Gold foil Untamed/Dice/2nd reward Legendary cards
  • 2nd Gold foil Untamed/Dice/2nd reward Epic cards
  • 3rd place is a tie between Gold foil Untamed/Dice/2nd reward Rare cards and Gold foil Beta/1st reward Rare cards

In the PS2 section I will highlight the percental price changes of the cards compared to the status on 9/29.

Happy Buying

PS1:
In case you buy a card, which is combined from multiple cards, then you will get the power of all the cards combined together. In the example the highlighted level 2 Pelacor Deceiver, which was created by combining 5 cards (BCX value). The Pelacor Deceiver is a common chaos reward card and so has 5 power (see image above). So the total power of this card is 5*5 = 25 power. Keep this in mind when buying/renting cards.

Please be aware that the above tables don't define the utility and usability of the cards, so it might happen, that it is a good idea to pay a few $ extra which will be helpful for your wins ;)

PS2:
As mentioned, here is the price change comparison between the state on 9/29 and 10/7:

Regular foil card price change from 9/24-9/29 (last day of the season):

Rare-5.01%25.93%41.43%80%
Common31.19%50%78.57%75%

Golf foil card price change from 9/24-9/29 (last day of the season):

% change in PriceAlpha/PromoBeta/1st RewardDice/Untamed/2nd Reward LighingChaos/3rd Reward
Legendary0%11.13%7.87%32.65%

Rare27.83%29.46%49.15%61.96%
Common32.35%56.9%94.29%69.96%

For Chaos/3rd reward cards it is possible that a price drop will come for multiple cards, as with the new Chaos Legion many new cards will enter the market and Alfa, Promo, Beta and 1st reward cards can't be used in normal Ranked games, though a new Wild ranked season will start with a new reward system.

Great analysis. Very curious to see the price of power increase so drastically. It will be interesting to see how the power requirements in the modern format will be structured, and how it will affect this price/power relationship.

I believe we will see multiple waves of price fluctuation when the pre-sale starts as the cards will be released only in waves. At the beginning the FOMO for receiving packs and new cards will drive the Chaos Legion card prices up, while other cards might get cheaper due to lower demand and also because the card owners want to buy CL cards as well.
Speculative buys might be possible in this time. It will be interesting to see, when the market will have enough new cards, and a normalization of prizes will occur. I will definitely keep an eye on that and create a few more posts like this ;)
