The Good
I have been making some data plots and ratios related to land position of Splinterlands players. The first two posts were very popular. There are here, and here. The second one I call The Jedo Version, simply because how @thejedo climbed up the ladder. I have some good news for people. Many have read my posts and stepped up and optimized their land games almost immediately (that includes me!). So many of us have climbed up this particular ladder and we have displaced jedo! No worries, knowing him, I have full confidence that he will catch up soon enough!
Alright, this is just an arbitrary sort, suggested by @vugtis. It is a look of land owners who are generating more than 500 DEC/hr.

The table corresponding to this simple chart is below:
The chart is sorted as per the DEC/hr ranking that is generated on May 29,2025.

That old table from 3 days back

|---|---|---|---|---|

| 142 | azircon | 478 | 134.26 | 0.28 |
I was languishing at position 142, and now I am at 33, generating 719 DEC/hr, right next to my friend @blewitt! Trust me, that was a lot of mouse clicking and $5000 in cash :)

A bit of Analysis
Vugtis clearly is the leader on anything land, but just due to his super-massive position, it is nearly impossible for him to be very efficient. As a reminder to the reader, LPE is one of the efficiency ratio, defined as follows:
Land Plot Efficiency (LPE) = (Total DEC Equivalent generated/hr) / (Number of active Plots)
Land Card Efficiency (LCE) = (Total PP employed)/ (Total DEC Equivalent generated/hr)
LCE can be regular or boosted
Although Vugtis earns the highest amount of DEC/hr, currently at 18,876 DEC/hr, and runs 4512 active plots (rank 1 in Plots too obviously), he is certainly not the most efficient. His LPE is 4.18, and his rank is 176 among 2464 people who has active land plot.
I chose redundancy4040 and cyguy as two end member spectrum with people that are generating a lot of DEC, but at a very different efficiency. I also compared myself in the mix, and I was down in the gutter. Running 478 plots and yet generating only 134 DEC/hr. Things are better now for me at 563 plots, 719 DEC/hr, LPE of 1.28. I am still very inefficient, ranking 560, but this is progress! I don't think I can improve my LPE ranking too much, but I can improve my DEC ranking further without much additional cost.

The Bad
I have mentioned toward the end of the previous post that a lot of land owners generatie negative DEC. That means they have to spend DEC to run the plots. Now that may not be a bad thing for a short run. Even I had that for a little bit. However, it is not very smart to do it long term, because potentially you are destroying value for yourself (that is the worse case), or you may want to convince yourself by saying, you are generating future value for yourself.
There can be multiple ways to have negative DEC/hr.
- Running too many plots with Research and not have enough raw materials
- Running too many plots for Aura Lab, but value of the potions are less than raw materials
- Running too many plots for SPS, where your raw material cost is higher than the value of SPS you generate
Whichever, thing that you are doing, if you are generating negative DEC/hr, your LDE is negative, and you will plot in the negative quadrant!

Did I say LDE? Land DEC Efficiency Ratio! :)
Land DEC Efficiency (LDE) = (total_dec_stake_in_use)/(DEC/hr*24)
In other words, I have the data for staked DEC of every user. It will be easier with an example:
I stake 26,486,015 DEC to earn 719.41 DEC/hr -> or 719.41*24 = 17,265.84 DEC/day
My LDE = 26,486,015 / 17,265.84 = 1534.01
In other words, I am keeping 1534 DEC staked to earn 1 DEC/day. Here high LDE is not good. Efficient people will have lower LDE. Let us look at a few familiar names.
| DEC Rank | Player | Boosted PP | Active Plot Count | Total DEC Stake In Use | LDE Ratio | Total DEC | LCE Ratio Boosted | LPE Ratio | LPE Rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | vugtis | 119,569,125 | 4512 | 217,985,919 | 481.19 | 18875.60 | 6334.59 | 4.18 | 176 |
| 8 | goldmatters | 15,557,222 | 112 | 1,520,451 | 25.32 | 2502.30 | 6217.17 | 22.34 | 13 |
| 9 | kesryn | 10,939,238 | 63 | 1,016,119 | 24.99 | 1694.43 | 6455.99 | 26.90 | 6 |
| 27 | cyguy | 5,377,491 | 26 | 100,125 | 5.23 | 798.03 | 6738.49 | 30.69 | 2 |
| 33 | azircon | 10,187,255 | 563 | 26,486,015 | 1534.01 | 719.41 | 14160.52 | 1.28 | 560 |
| 48 | redundancy4040 | 11,351,529 | 795 | 31,785,682 | 2404.24 | 550.86 | 20606.90 | 0.69 | 788 |
Now compare cyguy to vugtis; their LDEs are 5.23 and 481.19 respectively.
To earn 1 DEC, cyguy requires only 5 DEC! This is remarkable!
To earn 1 DEC, vugtis requires 481 DEC. This is rather good compared to me, as I need 3X plus of that, but it is nothing compared to cyguy! I am going to guess that cyguy is running 24 Runis! :) That is the only way!
There you have it, if you earn negative, all your ratios are negative, and you plot on the negative quadrant in the plot above.

The Ugly
There are lot of small land holders with a few plots, sometimes only 1 or 2. It is okay to be negative in that case. I mean it will be great if everyone is positive but a player with 10 plots running a small negative DEC earning doesn't bother me at all. However, the ugly bit is, the owners in the table below owns a region total if we add all the plots, and has a lot of cards and DEC. Yet, they are mismanaging their plots in a big way.
| DEC Rank | Player | Boosted PP | Active Plot Count | Total DEC Stake In Use | LDE Ratio | Total DEC | LCE Ratio Boosted | LPE Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2464 | cryp71x | 6,297,744 | 757 | 7,888,565 | -553 | -594 | -10595 | -0.79 |
| 2450 | wa-cha | 938,286 | 100 | 4,541,661 | -1694 | -112 | -8401 | -1.12 |
| 2460 | bitcoinsig | 4,641,015 | 123 | 3,868,009 | -660 | -244 | -19010 | -1.98 |
| 2398 | yggspl | 1,576,503 | 71 | 3,520,000 | -4544 | -32 | -48839 | -0.45 |
| 2455 | icecreamtony | 1,387,566 | 71 | 3,197,031 | -824 | -162 | -8580 | -2.28 |
| 2462 | kauffdiggity | 1,867,845 | 104 | 2,836,201 | -288 | -411 | -4548 | -3.95 |
| 1671 | mightyrocklee | 543,395 | 74 | 2,466,595 | -133499 | -1 | -705842 | -0.01 |
| 2434 | sevenlegspider | 2,227,877 | 74 | 2,315,921 | -1714 | -56 | -39566 | -0.76 |
I see an opportunity here. Folks with some money and people who are interested in this game should consider buying these assets off their hands. It will be good for them, and it will be good for you!
Hope this helps! :)

20 land plots is a minimum count in this table, basically mostly land whales are represented in this table, no small time land holders like me 5-10 plots :)
my spreadsheet has 2465 rows. That is every single land owners in splinterlands who has an active plot. The scatter plot has 2464 data points. I don't expect you to count it :)
There is NO minimum count. Everyone is in the spreadsheet. If fact if you look carefully you are in the plot even :)
I don't do "whale stuff" otherwise I wouldn't have spent hours doing this data mining, plot and the ratios.
I am sharing this all with the community so that they can do as good or better than the whales.
Just out of curiosity, can you share where I'm currently at in terms of the ladder? 😅
Acquiring more plots might have hurt my rank but you're right, I am on my way to activating more (and making others more efficient) to generate more resources and therefore, more DEC.
Sure I can. But now you have to buy me a beer :)
On my way home. Give me 20 min.
Ahahaha, sure!
No rush, really. I'm just curious. 😅
There you go
Just outside 50
Thank you very much! I have some work to do. 😏
I am meeting a RL friend tomorrow, @snarrg. Could you run his stats for me please? I think he's negative and running just 7 plots (one a Keep).
Yes, negative
Love these heavy data posts. Very interesting to see how everyone stacks up and how efficient / inefficient some are
Thank you! I guess I get me keep my job :)
I haven't looked, did the price of lands go up at all now that they removed the penalty for moving resources? Seems like some of those cheaper lands in less desirable areas may have gotten snapped up.
cheapest common stone plots are $20 each. I bought them in December for $10.
This is good deals still.
That's still not bad. I saw wood plots were $15 for a while. I might need to suck it up and spend some money...
I'm pretty sure I'm on the bad here but I'm working on it.
it is not really bad, just you can do better. You are in the positive. Only barely.
Sweet I can do better thank you!
This is a FANTASTIC read AZ - I can't wait for my cooldowns to be done...
I mean... I can wait... I have to... but I don't WANT to lol!
I wonder where I will be after they are done :)
I think 2 days are done already :)
Thanks for doing these posts, made me realise how inefficient I was being, slowly working at improving my DEC utilisation on existing plots before I add in more DEC and workers. Would be great if there was a site that I could see the best pp/energy ratio in my collection
Peakmonsters has a few sorts, they are not ideal, but you can get by
Thanks, I need to spend some more time on the site, I was playing around on there the other day but couldn’t seem to get it to work for my cards even though I could for cards on sale

This is helpful to us land newbies. Often times we are excited and directly farm SPS even with single plot we can still got negative. I think producing raw materials like grain, wood and iron still the less-cost effective to be efficient.

Can you show where I am on the charts? I'm only running a few plots but am curious to see how I am doing.
You are doing fine.
Thanks.
