Introduction

This week we will have a deep dive into the unprotected rule set.
some unit will become very weak like, these heavily relay on their armor:

Ruleset

All armor is removed from units and one cannot gain armor. Not from abilities nor from summoners

Note: Shield and Divine Shield are unaffected.

Official ruleset information from splinterlands: List-of-In-Game-Rulesets

Abilities Synergies / Strategies

All ranged and melee units that do not have a armor at their own benefits from this ruleset imo.

Blast - now the blast damage will directly go drain your opponent health.

Thorns/Return fire - there is no armor at you opponent side so these will do direct damage against enemy units now.

Avoid

Avoid high armor units like:

Protect/Rust/Repair/Shatter/Piercing - Has become useless in this ruleset because there is no armor.

Void armor - No armor that protect you so void armor will not help here

Do not avoid poison but it becomes less effective because normally can go around the armor now the armor is already gone.

Example battle

Strategy

Medium mana battle, all units will have opportunity and we may use on gladiator card.
But most important for this battle there will be no armor.

Rulesets

Unprotected:
This week rule set. All armor is remove, no armor buff are involved.

Equal Opportunity:
All units will gain the opportunity ability.

Are You Not Entertained?:
With this rule set you may use one gladiator card and these are often very powerful.

The Lineup

Summoner

CardReason
This time i have chosen Possibilus the wise because of the trample and extra health. The extra reach is not that important this time, because of the opportunity ruleset.

Monsters Lineup

#1#2#3#4#5#6

Baakjira (lvl 3)
Main tank that will be heal in the front, also do not expect it will be targeted that often due to the opportunity ruleset.

Coastal Sentry (lvl 8)
Heavy hitter, it loses the 3 armor but it get the extra +2 health of Possibilus and will be boosts early in the battle. That is the plan. In combination with the Trample of Possiblus this an key unit in the lineup

Venari Marksrat (lvl 2 GF)
Very important unit which i want it to be target first and killed quickly so the martyr will boost my adjacent units.

Angelic Mandarin (lvl 6)
Extra healer and because of the opportunity ruleset it will heal more than only the last postion

Pelacor Bandit (lvl 8)
This unit will be target secondly hope because of its flying and high speed my opponent has an hard time hitting it.

Igor Darkspear (lvl 5)
Last cheap unit with total of 7 health because of possibilus that still does 2 damage.

Rounds

Start :

Lest analyse the lineup.
I directly like the thorns setup and also an good example of the use of the martyr unit.
Because of the equal opportunity setup my opponent has chosen to play demoralize and heal unit.
I really need to nail it with the tramples. And on thing also noticeable my opponent has pretty slow units so that might give me the edge with all the potential misses.

Round 1:

image.png

Oh forgot, sneak is over opportunity so my Pelacor Bandit is attacking in the back on a thorns unit. But healed again by the Angelic Mandarin. And there was the first trample/miss and martyr, we are off with an good start.

Round 2:

Second trample by the Coastal Sentry and another 2 misses on my Pelacor Bandit. The thorn damage is healed again by my Angelic Mandarin. The strategy seems to be working.

Round 3:

image.png
Another kill for my Coastal Sentry but no trample because it was the unit in the last position.

Round 4:

image.png

Boring round the match is over there are still some high health units left on the battlefield, but they are not doing enough damage

Round 5:

image.png
Two more unit left only one can do any damage. To the last round

Round 6:

Coastal Sentry tramples again finishing the battle strong.

Conclusion

In this battle Coastal Sentry really shines, these are reason why i like splinterland, for now you can only earn this unit by playing the game. So if you play the game for a while you are being rewarded for you time and might have an edge over newer players.

The unprotected ruleset can give you quicker battle because you do not have to get rid of the armor first.
