Death vs Death

This is a 24 mana pool battle with the standard ruleset meaning no special rules apply. It is no surprise that we both went for Thaddius Brood (reduces magic damage and health by one for all enemy monsters) as our summoner as this dark deck offers a good selection of effective monsters with low mana costs.

The Lineup

Forming the front lines is my Cursed Windeku which has the thorns ability that when hit with a melee strike will return damage to that attacking monster, my off tank will be the Carrion Shade while it has no special ability it has 2 speed and 2 health for a cost of just 1 mana, Silent Sha-vi will be my third monster on the lineup followed by the Undead Badger. Both of these 2 has the sneak ability which should deal damage and target the last position monsters. Life Sapper will deal magic damage from my lineup and with it's life leech ability will increase it's health everytime it deals damage. Final monster on my list is the Death Elemental which has the snipe ability which prioritizes attacking ranged, magic or no attack monsters who is not on the first position.

My enemy roster consists of the Bone Golem as tank which has the void skill which would reduce incoming magic damage, , Silent Sha-vi was also selected to deal damage in the backlines, Venari Bonesmith also has the life leech ability and next is a similarly selected card which is the Undead Badger. Final summon on my opponents list is the Xenith Archer that will be dealing ranged physical damage.

Round 1

The attack of the cursed windeku connected to the bone golem effectively removing it's armor. However I've had lost one monster right after as the silent sha-vi attacked my death elemental and was quickly removed from play. It's unfortunate that the death elemental was not able to dish out damage.

Once it's my Silent Sha-vi's turn to initiate an attack it eliminated the xenith archer from contention before it was able to do anything.

It is just the first round but 3 monsters have already left the game. Two coming from my end with the latest addition of casualties being the Life Sapper. It was attacked first by the undead badger. Due to it's low speed it was unable to attack and drain life causing it to be eliminated in one shot.

image.png

This is turning out to be a bloodfest as it is my undead badger's turn to attack and with one shot sending the same undead badger card to the graveyard.

The first round ends with the venari bonesmith gaining one extra health after attacking the cursed windeku. The bone golem after attacking the same first position monster also sustained thorns damage and is reduced to 3 health. It is 4 vs 3 and i think I have a slight advantage.

Round 2

The second round starts with the Cursed windeku attacking the bone golem, the enemy tank is one hit away from elimination. The opposing Silent Shavi was next to attack killing off my undead badger.
image.png

Immediately after is my Silent Sha-vi turn to attack and it removed the Venari Bonesmith from the game.
image.png

It was the bone golems turn to attack and after hitting the cursed windeku was countered by return damage due to its thorns ability. The bone golem which was left at 1hp prior will now be removed from gameplay. The enemy silent Sha-vi will now move into first position. I have a bit of an advantage heading into the third round with 3 monsters vs 1.

Round 3

With similar speeds, and me having the pre-emptive strike this round. I was able to secure the victory after consecutive attacks from cursed windeku and silent-shavi. The remaining monster left from my opponent was quickly eliminated without giving it a chance to retaliate.
