My Journey and Tutorial for Validator Nodes / Interview with Reazuliqbal

in Splinterlands7 months ago

Hello, everyone! 🎮 Today, I want to share my exciting journey in the world of Splinterlands, especially regarding validator node licenses. This adventure has been full of **challenges, learning, and great experiences including an interview with @reazuliqbal, the owner and developper of @monstermarket **, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it! 😎

Exciting News: Splinterlands Validator Nodes Are Here! 📰

Starting March 7, 2025, Splinterlands will take a big step towards decentralization by officially launching Splintershards (SPS) validator nodes. These nodes will allow the community to validate in-game transactions and earn SPS rewards. The software will be completely open-source, meaning anyone can download and run it without additional costs or restrictions.

This is part of Splinterlands' shift to a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) system, similar to networks like Hive, EOS, and Binance Smart Chain. This means that SPS holders can vote for node operators who validate transactions and manage the SPS foundation's funds.

As mentioned in the Play to Earn & Reward Pool section, there are 3,750,000 SPS tokens per month allocated to a reward pool for SPS Chain node operators. 10%, or 375,000, of the monthly total will be allocated as block validation rewards for the accounts that receive staked SPS votes and are assigned specific blocks to validate, and the remaining 3,375,000 SPS / month will be split equally between all of the LICENSE token holders that are actively running the node software.Via info about Node Operator Rewards

My Experience: From Beginner to Validator License Enthusiast 🚀

I must admit that I am not a technical person at all. However, that didn’t stop me from getting involved in validator node licenses!

During the first tranche of sales on May 25, 2022, I bought two licenses for about $1.500 each in SPS, thanks to vouchers discount. Even though their value has dropped by about 90%, I have no regrets. I strongly believe in the future of #Splinterlands and the potential of these licenses helping me in my road of #play2earn.

These licenses have been very useful as they generate vouchers, which I have used for DECB (clans), bulk purchases, and in-game conflicts. Since the current license price is around $170, I am considering buying a couple more to reduce my average purchase cost.

Apart from their practical benefits, these validator node licenses have been my first and most important step towards generating passive income in Splinterlands. They have allowed me to earn rewards every day without having to play actively, strengthening my confidence in blockchain-based assets. Seeing a steady flow of SPS and vouchers accumulate has helped me understand the game’s economy in the long run, showing that early investments in decentralization can be rewarding over time.

How Much Have I Earned? 💰

Since buying my two licenses on May 25, 2022, they have generated:

  • 40,520 SPS
  • *8,108 Vouchers

These earnings have been a huge help in reinvesting in the Splinterlands ecosystem! I've managed to get tons of DECB, free charts for conflicts +40k SPS. And what's more, in the next picture I show the ROI of Validator Nodes actual prices:

Validator node licenses in Splinterlands offer a great investment opportunity, especially now that their price is much lower than during the initial sale. With daily SPS and voucher rewards, the estimated return on investment (ROI) is a little over three years, based on current reward rates. However, as the game develops and the use of SPS increases, the value of rewards may rise, reducing the ROI period. Besides financial benefits, owning validator licenses helps decentralize Splinterlands, giving you an active role in securing the network and taking part in governance. With validator rewards starting on March 7th, now is a great time to invest before prices go up! 🚀

Stay Safe in Splinterlands: Protect Your Assets & Understand Hive Permissions 🔒

Before getting more involved in my process of activating my validator licences, it is important to stay informed and protect your crypto assets. The game and its community offer many great opportunities, but as with any blockchain project, caution is necessary.

Be Careful on Discord & Verify Information

A big part of learning about validator nodes and other services comes from interacting with the community, and Discord is one of the best places to do this. However, it is also a platform where phishing scams and hacks often happen. Losing your assets to scammers is a real risk, so follow these security tips to protect your Hive and Splinterlands investments:

1️⃣ Use Public Channels First – Stay in general discussion channels before having private conversations Splinterlands validator node Discord
2️⃣ Check User Activity – Make sure the person is active and knowledgeable in the topic you are interested in (e.g., validator nodes).
3️⃣ Confirm Community Membership – If the person is trusted and recognized in the community, then you can consider starting a private conversation.
4️⃣ Never Share Your Private Keys – Do not store your recovery phrase (private keys) on your computer, and never share them with anyone.
5️⃣ Use Hive's Secure Permissions System – Hive allows you to give posting authority to third-party services without giving them access to your funds.

Understanding Hive’s Secure Key System 🔑

The Hive blockchain has a structured key system that allows users to control their accounts securely. Knowing how these keys work is essential for keeping your assets safe when using third-party services.

📌 Posting Key – Used for social activities like posting, commenting, voting, and following/muting other users. This key cannot be used for financial transactions.

📌 Active Key – Used for financial operations such as transferring funds, powering up/down HIVE, voting for witnesses, and managing market orders. This key should be kept secure, as it allows you to handle transactions.

📌 Owner Key – This is the most powerful key. It allows you to change all other keys and recover your account. It should be stored offline and not used for daily activities.

📌 Memo Key – Used to encrypt and decrypt private messages or transaction memos. Although not commonly used, it is important for private communication.

Each key has a specific purpose, allowing you to safely delegate tasks while keeping your assets protected. By granting only the necessary permissions, you can use Splinterlands and third-party services like Monstermarket without exposing your funds.

How to Delegate Your Node to Monstermarket

While looking into Splinterlands validator nodes, I contacted Reazuliqbal through the validator nodes channel in the Splinterlands Discord server. Before taking any steps, I carried out some security checks, making sure he was active, trusted, and officially representing Monstermarket. Once I had confirmed this, I decided to use the service, and to my surprise, the process was much simpler than expected. Here’s how you can do it too:

1️⃣ Buy and Activate Your License – Purchase a validator node license and activate it on your Splinterlands account.

2️⃣ Grant Posting Authority – Use AuthMan to give posting authority to 'monstermarket'. This lets them manage your node without transferring asset ownership.

3️⃣ Notify Monstermarket – Send your username to Monstermarket so they can set up your node.
4️⃣ Check Your Node Status – Visit Monstermarket Validators and click "Manage Validator" to confirm your node is active.

💡 The best part? You keep full ownership of your assets while delegating some tasks. This is one of the most exciting aspects of blockchain technology! 🚀

Behind the Scenes: An Unexpected Interview with a Hive Pioneer 🎙️

When I first contacted Monstermarket for help with setting up my Splinterlands validator node licenses, I had no idea that I was speaking to one of the most important figures in the Hive ecosystem.

It all started when Reazuliqbal kindly guided me through the onboarding process, making what I thought would be a complicated setup surprisingly easy. His patience and knowledge made me curious about the service and the person behind it. So, I casually suggested a short interview for my post—to give readers more insight into the project.

What I didn’t know at the time was that I was talking to the person who built almost 90% of the front-end in the Hive-Engine universe! 🤯

From that moment, our conversation became a fascinating discussion about his journey, the development of Splinterlands, and the importance of Hive as a blockchain. Now, I want to share this interview with you so you can learn more about Monstermarket and the tools we use every day.

Let’s get started! 🚀🎮

Beffeater: Where are you from?, what's your profession and how did you first get into Splinterlands and Hive?

🗣️ ReazulIqbal: I’m from Bangladesh and joined Hive (then called Steem) in January 2018, today working as a Software Developer for Hive-Engine. A few months later, I discovered Splinterlands (then SteemMonsters) and got involved. We used to do quests for rewards, beta packs were given out as rewards for 5 completed wins If I recall correctly.I am not a gamer, but I used to play a few quests here and there, loved the prize Later, I started trading cards and developing tools to make transactions easier.

Beffeater: Wow, that were rewards my friend! Beta packs! I guess this was the beginning for Monstermarket---

🗣️ ReazulIqbal: Monstermarket started as a Discord bot where users could buy discounted cards. Over time, it became a web platform that automatically gives cashback on card purchases. Recently, we launched a validator node operation service for people who own licenses but don’t have the skills to run them.

Beffeater: For someone like me, who isn’t technical, the process felt surprisingly easy! I believe part of the reason is the blockchain that supports Splinterlands. In your opinion, why is Hive so important for the game?

🗣️ ReazulIqbal: Hive offers fast and free transactions, which are essential for Splinterlands. Its architecture also makes it easy for developers to build and expand features, improving the gaming experience.

Beffeater: Azircon and the Splinterlands team are working to make Summoners aware that without Hive Power, they are missing out on an important part of the decision-making power that the blockchain offers. This includes key aspects like fundraising, governance, and marketing campaigns, which directly impact the future of the game. What would you say to all Summoners who are ignoring the blockchain?

🗣️ ReazulIqbal: Explore all the opportunities that Hive offers—from blogging to playing Splinterlands. The community is active, and there are always people ready to help new members.

Beffeater: For me Hive is a bridge to engage and get profits from your creative part. Either you cook, you like games, you are passionate with trips... You can share ur experience with ppl ALL OVER THE WORLD With same interests. That's mind-blowing. And instead of twitter or instagram you can easy convert your content into rewards while knowing and engaging fantastic people.

🗣️ Reazul Iqbal: It's a fact. I have known many people who had done the same. they made their life better through Hive.

Beffeater: What advice would you give to new community members?
🗣️ Reazul Iqbal: Explore all the opportunities that Hive offers—from blogging to playing Splinterlands. The community is active, and there are always people ready to help new members.
